Not just a Sketch Challenge

pop open

Yeah! It’s Saturday! So that means it Sketch Time!

Today’s sketch uses Eat Cake

 sketch 19

It is more than a sketch-its my own cool “pop open” band card. Now the concept is far from new. I just felt I changed it up a bit. I personally have yet to see this, and am not saying its definitely ALL my idea-but for today it is-to me 😀 Since “I” have never seen it.

You have seen the cards with “belly bands” that slide off right? Well my band pop’s open. I dont always want to have to have my band slide off, so this was my solution. I recently got a band card that was stunning (thanks Diana), and it triggered my idea. It was sketched in my book, and I had long forgotten my epiphany!

I used a Basic Grey magnet, for my closure. It looks nice, and easily pops open, and when needed, stays closed. The ends come together at the center circle sentiment.

The card fold is at the top, so once open you just lift the front layer, to reveal your message.

inside inside of card.

Often we “forget” to decorate that part too!!! Its just as important.

The main card is layered onto a mat for the base. This also allows you to hide the band around the back.

Pretty nifty huh?

Did I just say Nifty? Yup! I think I did.

I hope you will try it. They are alot of fun. Please send us all a link here with YOUR creation, should you try it. We would LOVE to see what your take on it is.

Now here is a SIMILAR take on the sketch-just no POP UP, and the circle image is a flower, which is placed to the left. A whole new sketch is born.

amybella birthday Buying it Bella

Yes, I KNOW its not EXACT-its INSPIRED by my sketch. Thats the whole point. Take something, and even if you dont duplicate it, let it inspire a whole new look 😀 That being said-those of you who participate in my sketches, then change it up a bit, and apologize-PLEASE DONT! I’m so happy it inspires you to create :D. I love seeing what morphed from my sketch-seriously!

This is retailafellabella-without her Fella! I just didn’t ink him. Who needs him to shop with anyway, right? My bella is a strong, independent shopper! She can carry her own bags, then HIDE the bill! HMMM, if she only had long curly hair she could have been me 😀

AmyR sent me this stamp a few months back, so I made her this birthday card using it. Its one of my favorites. Now I need to buy Click-a-bella, and the snow booty bella. They are on my “list”. Since I have actually been using my Bella’s, I feel I can justify a purchase. BUT, I have to wait till AFTER Christmas-SAD I know! Restraint is a KILLER! I am normally NOT restrained, but Christmas is around the corner, and I plan on doing my shopping the FIRST week of November-then Im done!!! I will then work on handmade gifts that I WANT to do. Even those will be done by Thanksgiving. Its my ultimate goal this year.

Well, I have a baby shower today-so there is a good chance that is where I am. EVERYONE is having a baby!

Thankfully “I” am done that chapter. I like my 8 hours of solid sleep, now that our kids are a bit older, and the fact that I can go somewhere, and not have to “entertain” them every waking second 😀

SO, maybe I’ll share the baby card I did later-or tomorrow. Depends on how tired I am. I may actually be all chatted out!

Till tomorrow.

friendzy hello

Happy Saturday!

Well as you know its Sketch time! Feel free to play along-just link your creation in the comments section so everyone can see what YOU do with the sketch!

sketch 17 click for larger image

I had FUN with this one-using Lizzie Anne  NEW! Floral Frenzy, and the hello from Daisy Dots set.

NOTE: Dont forget about their card contest!!!! Details —————->here

I LOVE floral sets! In case you haven’t noticed! LOL!!

I used a tag from SEI called Ally’s Wonderland-which inspired my colors. OMG! you ahve to see that set of paper-GORGEOUS!!!

It was fun using Vellum cardstock for the panel. Added a different element. I couldnt bare to hide the cute pink polka dot tag.

I colored it from the back with my Copic markers.

Added some brads for “balance”.

I have been using Orchid alot lately too.

I find I go through color phases. How about you?

Are you in a phase? What color are you hooked on right now?

I also get in a product phase-which is my new Spellbinders!!! I cant share most of what I made………..yet!

Till tomorrow! Ill share a gift idea I had. Hope it gets the creative ideas flowin.

Happy Saturday!

A quick note of excitment-Did you see I won one of the spots for the Designer picks for the CPS card contest? Look HERE !

Im very excited!

The grand prize winner is being chosen by the editorial staff at Card Maker magazine-so we all still have a shot at that!!! Wish me luck! Winner will be announced by Sunday. Oh I HOPE!

I loved my card-yes Im tooting my own horn. If you are proud of something I say BE PROUD!!! TOOT AWAY! People who act like they arent excited about stuff like that or dont care-I dont get! LOL!

And congrats to those who were also winners chosen by the CPS designers!

This week’s sketch is how you can take your sketch and flip arount the general layout-yet keep some of the basic design elements such as the card orientation. This type of flipping shows how you get a DIFFERENT look/design from virtually the same sketch-just flipped.

I will post supplies used for each at the bottom.

Here is the Sketch 1 card with sample-click to view larger image

bella inspiration     sketch 18 part 1 Stamp by Stamping Bella, SU Circle of friendship.

Here is Sketch 2

rainbow rocket    sketch 18 part2  Set-Lizzie Anne Designs High Hellos

NOTICE- I kept the horizontal orientation-but FLIPPED the sketch by

1) Moved the bottom panel in lovwer left (card 1) to the upper right (card 2)

2) Main panel also moved from top portion of card (card 1) to bottom portion of card (card 2)

3) The ribbon went from the bottom left of the card (card 1) to top right of card (card 2)

4) Kept a “element” in 3D on both. Circle (card 1) and a star (card 2)

I then just changed some of the elements that embellish the card to suit its “style”, but the overall basics are the same-yet look completely different! Whould you ever guess that they are similar in layout?

So I challenge you to do these 2 sketches!!! Link them here so I can see what YOU come up with. I think this if fun and challenging! I swear you will start looking at your other cards to see how you can flip it 😀

—————————————————————————————————————————

I have been stamping away this week-for the most part. How great and stress relieving! I feel SO happy today-despite a slight WINE hangover that I unexpectedly came home with after a visit to my friend Paulette’s.

Im a bit behind of stuff I “HAVE” to do, like a few thank yous, and birthday cards-Alexas home nurse is leaving us and moving on so I need to make her a card……………deadlines………………….you get the gist!

But sometimes I need to stamp JUST for FUN! Yes people “FUN”! Remember that word?

Remember when you first started stamping and that is exactly what it was? JUST FUN.

Then you began to send cards to people and now there is this HUGE expectation that EVERYTHING will be handmade, and your best work? While thats a compliment its really stressful. Especially when you send a card to a super talented person. EEEEEK!

Are you like me-awful at sending cards cause you HAVE to make a NEW one specifically for X! LOL! AND you have several stacks of them collecting dust 😀

I’d love to hear your hang-ups about stamping. I love knowing Im not alone in some of craziness

Weekends are usually for my family and I dont stamp-but this weekend I am taking time for ME! Its been crazy and stressful-the kids are sick and Im ready for a KID FREE moment!

Jason will get his moment tomorrow at a Paintball game-so see we switch off.

So I hope to see you back here tomorrow as I have something SUPER COOL to share with everyone.

I hope it inspires YOU to try it!

I also have another cool thing to post-so dont miss it.

Till tomorrow……………………………….

Simple Saturday Sketch

Oct 6, 2007 Author: mytime | Filed under: Cards, Saturday Sketch

sketch 16 So here is the Saturday Sketch! Click to view larger image. Kept it simple

Better late than never right? I have some stuff I wanted to post in honor of WCMD but my day has gotten totally turned up side down. I went down to my stamp room to get creative. I had been along day at soccer and a kids birthday party. After an hour I realize DONT attempt to be crafty when you are tired, its pointless. So I come back upstairs to see my kitchen TORN apart.

Jason decided I would probably be down there a while so why not rip out the kitchen window??

OMG! I could have killed him! The kids looked like PIG PEN from Charlie Brown! Dirt and dust everywhere-not good for Alexa! HELLO!!!!

Anyway-Ill save the stuff tomorrow when I can take the time to post what I really wanted to without extreme stress and annoyance!

Before I share my sample I wanted to share this-

I had to share this photo of my kids, and husband Jay. I started what I think is going to be a yearly tradition, having the kids make daddys birthday cake.

cake for daddy

For his 30th Birthday they made him this cake! ALL by themselves! I only measure, and did the oven stuff.

They frosted it together and each kid had been assigned a “color” sprinkles jar. It was funny cause upon cutting the cake each kid would ONLY eat the piece with THEIR assigned color! Too funny.

No one else would want to eat it cause it was seriously gross! They would spoon 0n some frosting-lick the spoon then spoon on some more onto the cake, eat a little more frosting-you get the idea! Sloppy frosting.

OK Now for my sample.

This is the WAY COOL card I made for Jason for his 30th birthday! He likes details and layers, but I felt I had to keep it simple and clean yet still have alot of thought into it.

30 bday Look Who’s turning 30!

Why is this so cool you ask?

Lots of reasons!

I love the colors! Black-Olive-Blue Bayou-Sky. So masculine!

The BLING! The Martini glass is a Michaels $1 spot find. I had it for YEARS! Never used it! I used the K & co adhesive Rhinestone sticker for the OLIVE.

Now for time ticking-I used an acetate clock by Making Memories. I was careful to line up the “3” next to the “0” or in this case the olive, to make the 30!! See it???

On the clock- I wanted it a little larger than my layer. I drew hands pointing to 10 and 1. Jason’s Birthday was 10-1 !!! Pretty neat huh?

The sentiment is from Savvy.

The ribbon is by American Crafts and was perfect. I thought it resembled colorful olives on a toothpick!

What do you think?

Well check in tomorrow where I will post some stuff from Lizzie Anne and a Christmas ornament.

I still have a few MFT stamps samples too. See you then.

Saturday Sketch Time! Feela a Bella for Victoria!

Sep 22, 2007 Author: mytime | Filed under: Cards, Saturday Sketch

sketch 15 Click Sketch to view larger image. This is a real “rough” version so you can get creative an add whatever you wish. I thought a sentiment block would be nice in the upper left corner-but for my card didnt have one that suited the “cause” GASP! Is it possible that I NEED more stamps? Maybe I didnt look hard enough? NO! I need more sentiments-for sure! Feel free to share some of your faves with me here today!

Well as you all read Tuesday was a tough day for me. Really tough. Put me in quite the FUNK! Alexa STILL has her cold-but is STILL hangin in there! Thanks for the prayers!

Amongst my many emails I found one asking for help. I do my best to participate in things for good causes as much as possible!

So, Bee  , knowing about Alexa, sent me an email a few days ago about a girl Victoria. Victoria is in high school, and has Cancer-what a tough age to get Cancer! Not that its OK at any age, but as a girl, remember all the drama in High School? Having no hair amongst the many other challenges of CANCER AND TEENHOOD has to be so tough!

HELLO remember puberty and all the crazy changes and hormones up and down-add Cancer to that.

The goal her teacher has set out to achieve is to get her (Victoria) cards from EVERY STATE in the US! Well here is one from New Hampshire!

More info on her story can be read here- and there is some blog candy involved-Blog Candy for Victoria

Victoria’s Address

Victoria Enmon
1205 Red Bud Circle
Orange, TX 77632

So for my Saturday Sketch I challenge YOU to represent YOUR state and make Victoria a card! We all make cards for NO REASON! Why not brighten a teen girls day? I realize this info was also on SCS for the color challenge. BUT some people dont read the challenges! So now you can see it here!

It doesnt have to be with my sketch although that would be kinda cool! LOL! Just send one if you can.

for Victoria Feela Bella from New Hampshire!

OK I think TEEN cards are difficult! You dont want them to be like-“Um, like yeah, How old does she think I am three?!”

So my Bella’s to the rescue! See her bandanna? Cute huh? Made using the 1/4 ” circle punch. Only punched a quarter of the way.

Julie Masse read of my Bella plight and sent me a bunch of images! Isnt that sweet? Thanks Julie! I may be ordering SOON cause some of the newest ones are pretty irresistible.

I have been using my Bella’s alot these days. And boy was I ever greatful this one arrived when it did! I think she is TEENISH dont you? In all honesty if I had this stamp I would have omitted the curls. Oh well. Maybe Ill put her in my cart.

This is jammybella I believe. Julie also stamped the sentiment for me. It was perfect.

Ya know I colored this with my Copic’s! The ink did run a bit-not sure what type ot was stamped with but its ALL GOOD!

I hope she likes it! Patterned paper is SU!

Thanks for reading.

If you try the sketch link it here! Id LOVE to visit you, and see your take! As Im sure would the readers.

See ya back here tomorrow. I swear I have the cutest Smilebox of Amber. Such a proud Mommy Moment! I have lots of stamping to do. I got a project accepted by Paper Crafts that they need me to re-do! LOL! I guess they liked the idea but it wouldn’t fit their color scheme. So I was given the colors that it needs to be remade in.

Now you know how the pages all REALLY flow! No matter- Im extatic. It was the only thing I sent it. Plus their magazine all flowing like it does adds to the entire look.

I was also told by Lisa S. that I have a card in the newest Paper Crafts on page 18! I dont have my copy yet, so I will have to check it out!

Thanks Lisa for letting me know!!!

OK Im off!

Triple the fun! Sketch Time!

Sep 14, 2007 Author: mytime | Filed under: Cards, Saturday Sketch

Yes, I am aware its NOT Saturday-its Friday eve. Im busy ALL day tomorrow-so decided to post early.

   sketch 14

Click thumbnail to view larger version. This sketch serves as an inspiration point. As you play around feel free to mix it up as you wish-you will see I did this with my samples as well!

Boy did I get carried away today! I drew up this sketch, then went to town!

Not only is this sketch meant for 3 images , but I did three samples too. I like how my samples are each different enough to show you a couple takes on the sketch itself. You can have it simpler, or add lots of detail-its all up to YOU how basic you want to keep it.

If you try it out, send me a link in the comments section-that way I can visit your creation and other readers can have a peek too!

Penguins at Play

penguins no peekin If you know me you know I LOVE penguins! LOVE them! They are like my butterflies of winter!

So when the Cat’s Pajama’s released their clear swanky sets—->here  I went NUTS! I had to have all 3 sets! What a deal they are too! Im so in love with their images. There are many more to come-so keep checkin in!

This set is the Kitty Christmas. Basically I was inspired by the ribbon I got at Target-DOLLAR SPOT! HELLO! Superlicious deal! Target has like the best dollar spot EVER.

colors-soft sky, banana, celery, rose red, regal rose

I had to use yellow in my Christmasy/wintery card after seeing Stefanie’s card —->here.

Penguins are colored with my Copic’s, and stickles (crystal ice is my favorite and most used one)made the snow. The chipboard sticker is also Target $1 spot. Cute eh?

Next Up-Cold Elements!

 cold elements

This card uses another favorite Christmas set of mine called Christmas in the City. Its by Lizzie Anne, and I have quite a few items using this set that will soon be published 😀 Really cute! Im so glad winter is sorta long so I get some good use from these sets!

My focus was WINTERY hellos, not necessarily CHRISTMAS cards-cause then Im limited as to what I can do with them. Not that I ever really MAIL them to anyone! Naughty!!!

Well the ribbon and colors are the same as above! Ribbon from Target! Lots of GLITTER! I used another chipboard piece from that set as well! Isn’t this so cute? A little different take on the sketch.

Daisy Dance

daisy dance Last but not least, my simple version!

PINK! I love pink! I wanted fast, and simple-this was a under 10 minute card EASY! I already had my sketch in mind-so the rest fell into place.

This just used some GORGEOUS Esprit Prima’s as the focus! What more do you really need?

For the flower centers I punched some vellum cardstock using my Spring Bouquet punch from SU! Added some adhesive Rhinestones-

Ribbon is by SEI!

The butterfly is another one of those SCRUMPTIOUS Heidi Swap Ghost shapes-only butterflies! HELLO! AWESOME! Used some stickles for the butterfly body so it wasnt clear. I use glue dots to adhere these. No show adhesive!

The sentiment is by SU! Stem Sayings-love that set. It was perfect for this, and it was stamped with a brilliance ink in orchid 😀

WHEW! That was alot for one little post! Hope you like the sketch! I have a crazy weekend!

Hope you get to enjoy your time as fall creeps through. Do you realize we are smack in the MIDDLE of September?! OMW! Where are the days going?

Thanks for reading. Cant wait to see what YOU do.

Anyone staying up for the Paper Trey Ink reveal? You know I am!

Till tomorrow-

Saturday Sketch

Sep 7, 2007 Author: mytime | Filed under: Cards, Saturday Sketch

OK Im posting this a day early cause tomorrow Noah has Soccer, and we have a full day of family stuff. I feel a Smilebox creation coming on!

Send me a link here in the comments section if you try the sketch OK! I LOVE seeing what you all do!

Oh, and if you find my mojo please return it! LOL! Its lost and Im so sad without it!

Despite no mojo I do love this card. My motivation is just gone-so no stamping for me this weekend. I do ahve PLENTY to share so keep checkin in 😀

And thanks to all of you who wished me and my family well! The prayers must have worked for Alexa cause she has her best “after chemo” time ever. She is generally exhasuted and sick, Like really sick, and this time she was up and ready to go to school! Made it through the whole 6 hour day with energy to spare for homework and reading!! Thanks Oh and her counts were OK too.

I am happy to report I am feeling much better too-definitely stress related!!!

OK back to the sketch

bella birthday  sketch 13 Bella-Beautiful b-day

Its Saturday once again. My FAVORITE day of the week, for sure!

I always post my sketch on Saturday, and hope you find tme to try it out. Dont be afraid of all the “layers” it really is an easy one!

I love making birthday cards. While Im always late on sending them, they are my favorite! My problem is I cannot send someone a card unless I made it just for THEM! I have this guilt that I just cant send it. So Im always late.

I still need to make a card for Jay’s grandpa-dang! I keep forgetting that!

I used my Cakeabella for this one. I love the Bella’s! I wish she had a place in the US to sell them cause I NEVER order due to the LONG shipping wait. I’m very impatient! Despite my long Bella Wish List-I havent ordered due to that fact! Plus the shipping for UM stamps from Canada-EEK! AmyR has been spoiling me with them, here and there! Im so lucky!

Anyway-they are CUTE ,CUTE, CUTE, and undeniably a must have.

That being said this is for my friend Nicole! I missed her b-day too! SORRY! She LOVES the bella’s.

So I made her this card. I have to say I LOVE it! The paper inspired my colors (scrap from a stamp store so I am sorry no clue who makes it) which are not your typical “mytime” combo of colors! LOL!

The sentiment is High Hellos by Lizzie Anne.

May arts ribbon, primas. bling, glitter on the candle, scallop punch, copic markers-all the makings of a great card!

You cant see that the black panel is dry embossed with polkadots-used my fiskars texture plate for that one. So there is some gret texture in this design as well!

Love her hair tie!

Anyway-I hope Nicole doesn’t mind a late b-day card!!!

Till tomorrow……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….:D

Saturday Sketch and MYTIME Mail Winner!

Sep 1, 2007 Author: mytime | Filed under: Cards, Mytime Mail, Saturday Sketch

sketch 12 Here it is! Click thumbnails for larger view.

Saturday Sketch time-all boxed up! I really like this sketch alot.

I love Texted Boxed by Paper Trey Ink. I found I hadn’t used it much though :c I knew I had to use my new Beautiful Blooms. Im a flower ADDICT! And this set is really cute.

So I decided it would be fun to create a layered look-minus the layers!

Here is what I came up with

boxed set Boxed Set

The colors were inspired by some bedding I saw “somewhere” but forgot where! I think it was a TV show. I had this layout, and color combo sketched in my Idea Notebook.

A notebook for your ideas and sketches can be VERY helpful!

I was really happy with the look, and the fact that is was a quick and simple layout. I love images going outside the “box”, and this was an easy way to get that look without cutting.

Its a great sketch that can be over-the-top detailed (see below) or SIMPLE.

You could use a dry embossed square image as well,

impress sketch or layer the images like this one .

This was an older card I did that my new card was inspired by. You can choose to do circles or squares. Whatever you want really! Just make it 2 small images in the lower left corner!

If you try it out, link us here so we can all see your take on it! I’d also love to see the loot bags if anyone tries those out.

I love seeing what everyone does with the sketches. If you are new to stamping then sketch are REALLY helpful!

I got some new stamps in from Lizzie Anne today! I hope to have some great samples and ideas for tomorrow. We will see.

MYTIME MAIL WINNER————————————————————————-

Thanks for all the responses on your stamping habits! I so enjoyed reading every last one.

Well usually #13 is unlucky-but Random.org picked #113! So in this case a very lucky winner! Shawn contact me via email with your address!

Here is what Shawn wrote:

Shawn O’Connell |

First let me say that I visit your blog daily and LOVE your creations, but mostly your stories. Your spunk and enthusiasm inspire me!! You’ve been through so much and remain so bright and cheery. I lost my husband to cancer three and half years ago …he was only 34. I know the havoc that cancer reeks on a family. I give you so much credit for all you have done to fight the battle against cancer and raise money for the cause!! Thank you for the smiles (and sometimes tears) as I visit you each day.

How often do you stamp?
I would love to be able to say DAILY, but reality keeps it at every other day or so. Sometimes only once or twice a week … three kids make it a little difficult, as you know!!

Do you stamp with ideas in mind or just let the mojo flow?
Always with an idea in mind … a need for a birthday, sympathy, baby card/gift. I would like to spend more time just stamping to grow my ability, ya know!?!

Do you send cards out often? Or hoard them?
I send cards A LOT! When I became a SU! Demo (just to get the discount!), my friends were worried that Hallmark would go out of business!! haha!

Do you do any challenges? Like on SCS or blogs.
I have participated twice … sad, I know. I’d like to start doing the sketch challenge on a regular basis, though.

Again, thanx for the chance to win!! TGIF, baby!!!

——————————————————————————————————

So I hope you will all check in tomorrow and get some time to try the Sketch or my Loot bags!

SNEAK A PEEK! Its the Saturday Sketch!

Aug 24, 2007 Author: mytime | Filed under: Cards, Saturday Sketch

Well, I got my High Hellos in from Lizzie Anne! Its a NEW Release that will be made available on September 10th! You can see those sets HERE.

While I was engrossed in inking my new sets, my kids decided to have some fun of their own.

Noah found a way to jam a toy into the fridge water dispenser-so that it would continuously keep pouring water out onto the floor. I guess that Spiderman car has more than one use afterall!

As it pooled on the floor, they stripped down to their undies, and began their version of a slip-n-slide across the kitchen floor.

I heard lots of giggling (from my stamp room downstairs)and knew something wasnt right! If they are HAPPY theres a PROBLEM.

I ran upstairs to see a HUGE puddle in the kitchen (along with my entire floor soaking wet) and Alexa was in the process of sliding across the floor on her butt as I emerged.

Lets say I was NOT happy. The look on their faces was priceless. I didnt even utter a word before they began scattering to grab paper towels to clean it up. 3 SOAKING wet kids in their underwear, sliding around frantically for something to whip up the mess. It looked like they hoped I had still not noticed.

They sat in time out for ONE hour-without a peep! That showed me they knew what they did was WAY wrong!

What a way to put a road block on the MOJO!

Back to my Lizzie Anne sets……………I had to share that.

I am in LOVE with them all. I began working with High Hello’s and seriously could NOT stop! I made alot of samples but for now will only share this one. Keep checking back to see more this week.

I decided for my Saturday Sketch that this would be perfect!

I hope you like it. I was very happy with how it turned out. Especially since the colors are so not my usual combo.

I LOVE layering-but keeping the layers nice and clean-not too overdone. You can really KILL a card by over doing it. Its good to know when to S-T-O-P!

Click the sketch to view larger

sketch 11 This is a perfect one for the taller images you may not know what to do with.

Topiary Thoughts

topiary thoughts I really loved this one. It was the first card done from my set. I made it yesterday morning.

I used this awesome Strano ribbon in 5/8 Petal. It gave me this combo of Pretty in Pink, Rose Red, Not Quite Navy, Celery and Artichoke! Who would have thought? Not me.

I need more of their ribbon-seriously gorgeous. I love how I tied the bow. I didnt have enough ribbon left to make a knot so thats how I improvised. Just used my linen thread.

The tree was colored with my Copic Markers, and then some Sakura glitter pens. I added green stickles to the outter lines of the topiary. The key was not to fuss with how it was colored. I just swirled my markers in various greens around in circles like the image-DONE.

I love the sentiments in that set cause they are so interchangable with all the images-too fun! Im on a huge Prima kick. I cant NOT use them these days-that and rhinestone stickers! YIKES! I hope I get out of that rut. All this PRIMA purging is so hard.

Well I hope you like the sketch and have time to try it out! Put a link here so we can all see it OK!

Enjoy the weekend, and if you have a funny kid story I’d love to hear it. Maybe it will make me feel better 😀

They are only little for so long I guess.

Saturday Sketch time-stuck on a slant

Aug 18, 2007 Author: mytime | Filed under: Cards, Saturday Sketch

Its Saturday! YEAH!!!! That means it Sketch time.

This week we are once again putting our images at a slant! I have no idea WHY, I’m SO stuck on this idea  lately, but I am, and I think its a fun way to place your images for a change.

sketch 10 click to enlarge sketch-hard to see a little.

This week I did 2 again. One more simpler and cleaner that the other. But both still fabulous! I really like the versatility in the sketch.

pomegranate perfection  Pomegranate Perfection

OMG! I LOVE this card. Its clean, and simple, yet so elegant. I love that this set can give you many looks. Im totally falling in love the the Bohemian style many companies are coming out with. It seems to be a hot trend.

So I used True Friend by SU!, natural ivory, purely pomegranate, old olive, and choc. chip ink/cardstock. Wide satin choc chip ribbon which is just gorgeous!

This was the first card I did for the sketch, and it easily just fell together. Another quickie card. Maybe 15 minutes.

Next up SAY CHARGE! Not such a quickie card.

retail fun OMG! Don’t you wish you could get your hubby to smile like that not only while you shopped, but while he carried your bags! LOL!

We have to go Back to School shopping and I can promise Jason will not be smiling. He STILL hasn’t realized that we have THREE kids, who GROW, EVERY year, and that clothes are NOT $1.99 for shirts and $5.99 for pants! SERIOUSLY! The looks I get when the cashier hits the TOTAL button, is just SCARY!

This is Retailfellabella! AmyR sent her my way (thanks girl!) and I LOVE her oodles! Wait till I show Jason this card-he will just die.

So my slanted layer to the left is suppose to be like a charge card! Cute huh? The sentiment is from Say Charge, as is the purse in the upper corner (partially covered by the bella image). The floral strip (in place of credit info) is by The Paper Salon, simply ribbon set.

I was so inspired by this paper by Piggy Tails called Little Red Riding Hood (this one is The Forrest) that it was the inspiration of this card. Images are of course colored with my COPIC markers, which I think Im getting better with.

These colors match SU! Soft Sky, banana, and pomegranate. The darker blue was my by fave person-Martha Stewart! I mean that in a crafty way not a lifestyle way. The stitched ribbon was also from Stampin Up!.

I love the flower Ghost Shape by Heidi Swapp on the lower right of the card. Its the shape as the flowers in my paper. Added some bling by K & co, and was done.

So I hope you get to try the sketch. I think weather you have a simple style or like to layer and get mor involved, as my samples show, then this will be a great sketch for you!

If you try it send us a link! We’d love to see your ideas  for it.

Tomorrow more with the Bella’s! Im dusting one off that has gone un-inked for months! YIKES!

Challenge yourself to use an uninked, neglected stamp this weekend. I know I have plenty that fit that category!
