But it was time for a BIG change!!!!ย This is me today. I took this just this morning.
Although this was NOT really what I had in mind ๐
Prepare yourself for a story people!
I’m dying to hear what my mom thinks too! I know Im going to hear that I look JUST like her!
I don’t think ANYONE who knows me would recognize me!!! In fact taking the kids to school I got the TRIPLE take! Even the girl at Dunkin Donuts was in shock!
I have ALWAYS been Blond! Until I turned 13! My hair got darker, and I was so upset. My mom let me dye it from then on, so I have never really had dark hair.ย Well, until now.
I’m not sure WHAT my issue has been lately, but I have been saying I need a change! I’ve still kept up with exercising and take care of myself, and I love getting new clothes, but that hasn’t been enough. I don’t want to look back on photos and see I look the SAME decade after decade!! The dreaded HAIR RUT!
ย One day I just chopped off 8 inches of my hair. No reason. Just CHOP! I haven’t had short hair since I was 10! Its generally at LEAST a bit past mid back, or longer.
I have had a hard time with my naturally curly hair since my surgery. Its been half straight, half curlyย and just plain difficult! So I cut it, and have been straightening it these days. OK that is a bit different. Still not anything NEW.
ย Well, I decided to TRY dying it myself Saturday. No big deal. Been there done that a million times. Something different happened THIS time.
I let it set for 20 minutes. Washed it out. I thenย took the towel off my head while Jay was in the kitchen cooking, and the LOOK on my husbands face was SCARY!!!!!!! You know men never notice ANYTHING. Well not usually. THIS he noticed. I looked at him puzzled, and said “What isย the matter?” He said “Oh myย word! Laurenย have you SEEN your hair?” So I quickly RAN to the mirror. There I saw it! My hair was BLUE, WHITE and GRAY, you may even say some green!!!!!!!!! HOLY SMOKES!! (OK those weren’t my exact words, but lets just say it was a disaster!) I have NO idea what happened with the dye I used, but apparently my hair was NOT happy with it.
Jay kept saying OH! NO! That is REALLY bad Lauren. What are you going to do? You can’t leave the house! At least no without a HAT! Amber said “Mommy what did you do to your hair, its like a clown!” and she went on to giggle.
OH! CRAP!
I was FREAKIN out. There are no words to say how panicked I was. It was too late to go the a hairdresser. So I waited till Sunday morning and went to the ONLY place open, it was at the mall. I called ahead, and told them my “problem”. She said they could definitely fix it for me. So I put my Hoodie on, and off I went. THANKFULLY the hairstylist is RIGHT near the mall entrance door! So I think I went in virtually unnoticed. HOODIE ON!
ย I walked in, where there was about 12 people in there. I took the hoodie off and gave her my name. Then everyone just STOPPED. They all looked at me in horror! Now THAT had me even more panicked! I said “Please tell me you have seen something like this before!” The girl at the counter said “Something like that, but not that bad. Oh boy! This is going to be a while” By now I’m about to CRY. Especially when MY hairdresser comes to me and her hair is an inch long and FLUORESCENT GREEN. I said “OK I don’t mean to be rude, or judgemental, but would you understand if I was about to freak, that the girl with the green hair was going to help me fix mine?” She laughed and said, Honestly I’m their best colorist, and I will get you all fixed up. Promise.
So trusting her with my hair, I got in the chair. I mean honestly could it get ANY worse? She said my hair had like 8 colors in it.
I guess the dye damaged my hair in the process (it was ONLY on 20 minutes!!) and they wanted to cut it up to my CHIN. Uh! NO!!! That can’t happen. So we cut it to just below my shoulders and did some layering. I have to say I LOVE the cut! It feels FABULOUS and is SO much easier to work with. I can curl the layers under and it just bounces. Feels good.
The process took 4 1/2 hours between “filling” , conditioning and redying like two or three times (I lost count).
The PROBLEM was they had to dye my hair as DARK as I would allow. They wanted to go alot darker, but I couldn’t do it. So now I have what I THINK you’d call chestnut kind of hair! I have to wait 4 weeks before we can highlight it. Its REALLY strange seeing myself in the mirror or anytime my hair falls within my view.
I wanted a change so I guess I got it! LOL! I am really happy with the cut for sure. The dark hair is going to take some time. I go back in 4 weeks, so I’ll keep you updated. I guess my advice would be DON’T dye your hair yourself!! Pay the $$ to have it done right the first time.
Could be worse. My hair could have broken off.
On a another note:
Alexa is doing very well. The Tamiflu and Zithromax have really helped. We definitely caught it just in time. I’m keeping her home this week, just to be safe for her, and for other people’s children.ย ย She doesn’t have the best immune system so I don’t want to throw her back into the germ infested school before she recovers from what she already has.
I want to thank you ALL for the wonderful comments and prayers. They help us a lot.
I’ll have some eye candy tomorrow. I’ve just been OBVIOUSLY busy with my family and hair drama!
Thanks for stopping by ๐

Hi Lauren,
I thought the profile photo on your website was nice but I have to say I think the new look is stunning.
The new colour gives your skin a lovely warm tone to it and your eyes look bluer! (I hope this doesn’t sound too gushing – sometimes when you write down a compliment is sounds much more mushy than when you say it).
And such good news Alexa is feeling better.
For what it is worth – I think you look wonderful and the colour suits you. I have seen very bad and painful results with DIY hair products – rather safe than sorry – I never try it at home.
HAPPY to hear Alexa is doing better. TG you reacted right away. Looking forward to see you eye-candy – but totally understand you had enough on your plate today. Take care.
Lauren, I love the chestnut hair color on you! I think it complements your skin tones.
And thanks for the wonderful ideas, I check your website everyday!
Oh my. Lauren I am so sorry this happened to you. I have to say I have had the worst day until I read this. You poor thing. am glad it worked out your hair looks fantastic!
Wow, Lauren, I think you look beautiful & your new color took 10 years off of you!! It’s a nice change~ I think you should update your blog profile picture with your new look!!! It’s funny because I finally convinced my sister, who is Mexican BTW, to go back to brunette & my God, what a huge difference it made for her! I love your new look~ you look amazing!!
xx
Emma:)
Love the hair cut and color it is very flattering and makes your eyes look even bluer. I got my hair colored at the hair dresser for our 25th anniversary and it was supposed to be a shade of burgundy. My hair turned out out Ronald Mc Donald fluorescent red ( glow in the dark). Back to the hair dressers days later and hours later a somewhat softer shade but still bright red. This was the last time I ever colored my hair. Someone even asked if I had colored it for Halloween. NOT!!!
I love the hair color and cut.
And believe it or not, once we pass 30, we need changes like this. I cut mine shorter (shorter than yours) at 31, and now at 33 changed the color. It takes a while but it seems to be the only thing we can “control” when life gets outta hand.
Well wishes to the family!
I was going to say your eyes REALLY pop with the new color! Wow. I know how you feel! I went to get my hair cut at the local Great Clips once. The lady looked at me and went “Holy crap what happened to your hair?” Um- YOU cut it last time……. it had just grown out funny- the layers and whatnot………… You really look great!
Wow, that hair coloring is just gorgeous on you! It’s so flattering to your skin tone and makes your eyes just pop. Stunning!
awww I’m so glad Alexa is doing well! Continued prayers for her quick recovery ๐ and I think your hair looks fantastic!! ๐
Beeeeautiful hair! Love the cut and color! Makes your eyes POP!
Lauren,
I have to agree with the other posters. I LOVE the new color. It makes your skin look so warm. Don’t get me wrong, I love your blonde too. I am the same color blonde as you and have been wanting to try something “warmer” for the winter and to see if my skin wouldn’t look so pale. Pale skin and blonde hair washes me out. After seeing your picture I may just try it.
Lauren … I actually LOVE your new color. It really suits you and your coloring. It’s a soft tone and makes your eyes pop! Wow — a *new you* just in time for the holidays! You lucky girl, you!!!
I love it! I think it looks great! I am so glad Alexa is better, I was thinking of you guys. ๐ Hugs, Sarah
Hi Lauren,
I have to say you look great !! My DD looked at your picture now and she said “She is pretty”, then I showed her your blond picture and she said: I think she looks better with red hair.
I have dyed my hair myself many times, and once I tried highlights and ended up in a nightmare.
Great that Alexa is feeling better!!
God bless
Giovana
Oh good grief! When I saw your title I thought “Oh no!” I loved your blonde hair. But, I have to say that I love this new look too. It really looks beautiful, Lauren. Glad to hear Alexa is better.
I LOVE the new color–it looks fabulous on you!! Sorry about all the hair drama to get there though! This color suits you beautifully!!!
Love the cut and I love the color…it looks so natural! It’s what you call a happy mistake! And here we thought that could only happen in stamping! tee hee…
I love the new color! It really makes your eyes pop. I am disappointed that you didn’t post a pic of your ‘rainbow’ hair!
I am so glad that Alexa is doing better.
I’m so glad your little angel is feeling better. OH…and about the new look – hubba hubba!
Hi Lauren,
While I’m a frequenty visitor I don’t often leave comments. I just *HAD* to today. You look goregous!!!! I love, love, love your hair. Truly stunning. It’s very YOU!! Thanks for sharing it with us.
Hugs,
Tracy
Love your new look. I was bonde up until I started having kids, and my hair just kept getting darker. I too dyed my hair darker one time and It ended up green, so I never dyed my hair again. I am glad Alexis is doing better. Susan
So glad Alexa is feeling better. I LOVE your hair!!! It’s GORGEOUS! I wish I looked that good!
Your story is the reason that I am afraid to dye my hair. I love your new color and cut.
I love the new color Lauren! I agree with what other posters have said, it really makes your blue eyes pop and your skin tone looks amazing with this color too! The cut is awesome, love the new look! =)
I’m so happy to hear that Alexa is feeling better!
I honestly think your hair looks gorgeous. I think it makes your beautiful eyes just pop. I’m one of those people that thinks Cameron Diaz looks so much prettier with dark hair. Your dark hair makes your skin glow. Feel blessed that you have the skin coloring to go either way. As a redhead, I’m pretty much stuck. I have died my hair myself and had one horror story…it was BRIGHT ORANGE. Yikes. I am thinking of going darker with my red because unlike you, my hair keeps getting lighter! I think that’s because redheads don’t go gray they just fade away…… I’m not sure which is worse. So glad little Alexa is on the mend:)
I think it looks great!! Perfect color for you! Glad your daughter is feeling better!
Your new colour looks really natural and gives you a lovely soft autumn glow. I know you went through pain to get there but it looks good. Also glad to hear Alexa is improving.
Lauren – your new look is sooo amazing!!! you look more mature….i did not say old….you hair looks so healthy and beautiful!!
i have been a hairdresser for over 15 years…i could go into great detail why your hair went “wierd” but you are right – doing a drastic color change is best left to the pros. ๐
you look stunning!
I have to say that I visit everyday and my first thought today was whow Lauren changed her hair colour, it looks great on her then I read your story , and I do sympathize with you but wanted to comment along with all the others here today and let you know please don’t feel bad it looks AWESOME on you, if I were you I would tell the world ya…I meant to do this LOL…maybe consider leaving it this colour at least thru the winter and if you feel the need then maybe lighten again for a boost in the summertime…glad that Alexa is on the mend
wendy
WOW!!! I’m terrible about commenting, but I just had to on this post. You are a gorgeous blonde, but I love this color on you! It is stunning! A change is always fun! ๐
Wow. That’s all I can think of to say!! Sorry you had to go through so much drama, but WOW!
So glad to hear that Alexa is doing better.
You look marvelous!! Despite all you went through to get there, it really is a pretty color for you.
Lauren I think this color looks really good on you. You should keep it. I have been bleaching my hair since I turned 19 (i am 36) I was just thinking to myself this morning that i was going to tell my hairdresser to make it brown again.
OH MY GOSH!!!! I Luff it! You look Fabulous as a Brunete! I love the color!!!!
I really like your hair in the picture but I am partial to blond hair myself. But a change is always nice and I know you are enjoying it.
Lauren, I think the color looks great. I recently got mine colored darker for the fall. I too needed a change. I never dye my own hair anymore. I splurge and pay to get it done. I get great coverage and my color seems to last longer. Glad to hear your daughter is feeling better.
thumbs up to the darker hair…I think it is so pretty. It really sets of those blues!
I love the color it looks great. I have had some of the same horror stories, but I look at it as it will grow back.
I thought you looked cute before-but wow that is such a good look for you. Don’t go back!!! I agree with going forward and not keeping the same style forever. Your color is just beautiful and looks healthy.
You are a beautiful no matter what your hair color! You could even go with green, but the warm chestnut suits your skin tone and your beautiful blue eyes! I just went from blond to a darker brown myself (to go back towards a more natural color) and hated it for the first couple of weeks. It’s growing on me now, so hang in there! You’ll get used to it and grow to love it…because it looks absolutely fabulous on you!!! :o)
Lauren – your new color is wonderful and yes, I also love the cut. So glad to hear that Alexa is doing better. Love your blog and all that you share with us.
Hey Foxy Lady !
I have to be honest Lauren, I totally adore your new cut and especially your new colour. Your complextion totally suits this shade; you look younger [if that is possible! Ack!] with an stunning energized-glow ๐ Sure you haven’t had a facial peel or some of that magical Botox? lol
I wouldn’t change a thing ๐
to put it plain and simple . . . you look gorgeous!!! i love your new hair color and the cut is adorable!!! rock on sexy momma!!!!
Ahhh, its winter, a great time to go darker. This looks fabulous! Its always good to mix things up now and again!
Love Love the new color..Yes I know the coloring woes. Never had anything that bad though. I finally went to using a colorist and not dying my own. Now I am NATURALLY grey..hmmm. Love old age You look stunning with this color, it truly is becoming on you.
I think the new color is AWESOME and the cut is CUTE! Honestly, you should leave it this color ๐ I agree with other comments, you should update your profile picture b/c the new hair color made your skin tone look great. Sounds like you went through quite the hair drama LOL But, you got great results despite all of it!
OMG!!! I love it! Your eyes are crazy blue! Glad to hear Alexa is feeling better. Hope she is 100% and back at school soon.
Lauren I absolutely LOVE, Love, love the new hair color!!! It’s a WOW change that makes your blue eye pop. And I think your skin even looks more youthful & vibrant due to the hair color change. I’m sure it’s a drastic change for you tho. So great to hear Alexa is on the mend. What an eventful weekend.
My hair got darker when I became pregnant with my first child. With the second it got a little lighter again but is still kind of a dark ash blonde. I go a little lighter in the spring and darker in the fall. I think I would like your hair even darker than it is now but think it was wise to stop where you did this time. It would have been too dramatic to change so much at once!
Just had to add my 2 cents worth :-)……I love your hair. I think it makes you look younger, softer and your skin just glows. Most important of all…….do YOU like it?? So glad Alexa is better.
lovely, lovely, lovely — on the outside, but especially on the inside too! ๐ . . . and so glad you caught Alexa’s bug before it got any worse — you’re one on-the-ball woman!
You’re beautiful to begin with, but I think you look absolutely *gorgeous* with brown hair!! It really makes the blue in your eyes pop and I love the glow it gives your skin! LOL, I wish my changes were always as great!! ๐
Lauren I love the color on you…I wouldn’t highlight it at all. Guess it’s true …when one door closes, another opens. Very flattering indeed!
They made you look beautiful, even if it is not what you intended. Sorry you had to go through the many hours of multicolored hair. I hope you took photos despite your panic, i’m sure you will look back on this and laugh.
omg! what a horror story, BUT I have to say the new color is absolutley stunning! I’m all for change and this is awesome! glad to hear Alexa is on the mend!
You look so beautiful! I love it! I know what you mean about needing a change too. I hate going to the hairdresser and sometimes I just want her to give me a pixie cut but I always chicken out!
I am SO happy that Alexa is doing well. That is such happy news for the day!
Stunning. Suits you. Love the shorter look.
FABULOUS new hair! The cut is amazing on you! Very fresh and well suited to your face. The color looks wonderful! It really brings out your eyes. All around a great look and hopefully totally worth the anxiety the whole hair dying incident caused. Gorgeous!
Glad Alexa is on the mend.
LOVE the new look! The darker color really makes your beautiful blue eyes stand out. Give it a few weeks, the new color will grow on you (it took me about that long to get used to my darker color). The shorter length and layers add interest around your face. Pretty soon your fan club will be requesting the “Lauren!” (Remember the “Rachel” from Friends?)
Deana
I think it looks fabulous!
OMGosh Lauren, I luv, luv, luv the color & the cut really suits you….you look FABULOUS!!! You learned the hard way, I learned easier than you that you should never color your own hair you end up with lots of color build up & thats not good for your hair but it all turned out great & you got a whole new beautiful look that suits you & made you so in style girl!
I’m so happy to hear that Alexa is doing fine now & doing so much better. Hugs Rita
Hi Lauren, I have been in the exact same position as you. I have been dying my hair for years, since I was a teenager. Well I was bleaching my hair once and my hair went orange like a carrot. It was awful. The boys I shared a house with that summer at Uiversity thought it was hilarious. I ended up calling the Clariol number on the box explaining my problem. They told me what I needed to do to rectify the situation (since I was in university I did not have the money to go to a salon). So mid summer I am taking a taxi ride to the mall, with a hoodie, to go and buy what I need to fix it. I ended up having to put chemical after chemical onto my hair. It was so damaged that I had white hair by the end of it, and I had to wait two months before I could have it fixed. Horrible, especailly since my brother and I (who live a country apart) were getting together to have family pictures done. So now I have a picture of the two of us, me with my white hair to remind me of my ordeal. I have never used a box dye since and always pay the extra to have it done at a salon. And I have had every colour you can, blonde, starawberry blonde, auburn, black, brown, etc…I have now gone back to blonde after being dark for years.
By the way it looks good, and if you hadn’t of told us what had happened we wouldn’t have know!!!
WOW!!! I so love this color on you – perfect with your skin coloring and perfect for the season!!! I bet you’ll be sticking with this much longer than 4 weeks ๐
Lauren you look great! I was always blonde as well and last fall i decided to be my own stimulus package and stop coloring my hair. To do so, ironically we had to dye it brown. You know what – it’s soooo me now. I have so say that I love you as a brunett and it really makes your blue eyes pop. You may want to give going blonde a second thought. ๐
I didn’t review the other comments so I’m curious how the sentiment’s going, but I think the color looks great on you and my, how it makes your eye color POP!
Glad to hear Alexa’s on the road to recovery – hope she’s feeling better ‘n yesterday and worse ‘n tomorrow!
Chickie, you look amazing! The darker hair is perfect and makes your eyes stand out even more. It works. ๐
I agree with the other posters…it makes your eyes look very blue, and looks quite natural! I have to say I do color from a box and never had problems…Nice & Easy Medium Ash Blond :0) My only trick is that I NEVER leave it on more than 10 minutes!
Glad your daughter is feeling better too!
Your blog is the BEST…from crying one day to laughing out loud the next! I learned my lesson about 3 years ago with my hair! My husband said: “What is THAT?” “Is it supposed to look like that?!” “You’re not done, right?!” Of course, I did the same thing..late one night right before 4th of July weekend. We were going to my brtother’s house at the beach..and my hair was FLOURESCENT Pink/red…I used Prell which dryed my hair out so badly….I will NEVER do my own hair again. Now I pay…:) Thanks for sharing! You look AWESOME! The color really makes your eyes POP! Lots of moms in my town have gone from blonde to dark…all look FABULOUS…just like you! ๐
You look gorgeous dahling! I would love to have my hair that color and it sure looks good with your coloring. Hope the kiddo recovers quickly. God bless.
Becky
You look amazing!! Your eyes really pop! You look A LOT younger and fresh ๐
Glad to hear your daughter is doing better!
Lauren – you look absolutely, stunningly, amazingly GORGEOUS! Love the new hair color and the haircut! You’re even prettier now (and so striking!) than you were as a blonde.
I think it’s beautiful! Your story had me laughing out loud. It was funny the way you told it but I totally sympathized because I have been there, only I PAID someone and they ruined my hair. It’s a long story but I was trying to find a new hairdresser. Went to an extremely reputable salon and asked for a nice auburn brown color. When it finished I thought my hair looked a little dark in the mirror but the salon wasn’t that well lit and it was dark out so I went home. When I looked in the mirror at home my hair was MAGENTA! I mean it almost glowed in the dark. I called the next morning and they said “we can get you in next Thursday.” Um…..NO! I told them that I had to be in court at 1:00 (I’m an attorney) and I wasn’t going with purple hair so they got me in that morning. In order to cover it up they had to make it almost black and I looked like Morticia Adams. Still it was better than Magenta. LOL! So, I sympathize with you but I think your new color is amazing. Give it some time and you may really come to love it.
Your hair color and style are wonderful. That color looks SO fabulous on you. Makes your skin and eyes just glow. I totally love it!
I think I would have rocked the crazy colors, and yeah you so should have taken a pic of that….THe new color and hair cut fit your face so nice…You look good mama!
I think you look beautiful! The color is very nice on you.
It looks great!
You look very beautiful! I really love the brunette look ๐ I’m glad to read that your little girl is doing better! Keep taking greatcare of her as you do! I laugh so hard reading your story (the part when you said that husband does not notice anything… ) but I think I would have been crying so much if it would have been me! You are my hero!
I must say I LOVE this color on you. It just makes your skin tones glow. I can’t imagine what you went through, though. I’ve colored my own hair for over 30 years and have never had a problem.
Your hair looks GORGEOUS! The color totally flatters your skin tone and makes your eye color POP! I love it. Just wanted to let you know.
I am glad Alexa is doing better. ๐
I think the chestnut looks great with your eyes and I wouldn’t highlight. I love. The length and layers are fabulous.
I absolutely love this on you. I would not change a thing.
Hey Lauren!
I love your hair. Sometimes it pays to make a mistake!! ๐
glas Alexa feeling better.
kisha
Wow! Talk about a bad hair day! But it ended up so well–I think the color and cut look fabulous on you–it makes you look younger–even though you are young already ๐ BTW Also enjoy all your creations. You You r so creative. Good luck with your hair!
I have to say, I love your new hair! Style and cut. I think once you get used to it you will too.
I love the color! I understand what you mean by the change. I go through that every now and then. I just recently dyed my hair black. I usually a light – medium brown. I always do my own hair color and never have an issue but I normally have medium brown hair color which is fairly easy to work with. Not sure how true this is but I’ve heard when you are blonde – it is a lot trickier to color your hair. My ex-sister-in-law colored her hair once – was supposed to be a reddish-brown and turned bright green. I’ve actually had worse luck at a salon. In high school I went to professionaly get my hair lightened and they turned it blonde – ! not good with dark brown eyebrows like mine and I just can’t pull off the blonde look. I think you look great! Thanks for sharing your experience.
I think it looks awesome!!
I love it Lauren, it really makes your eyes pop! Fabulous. I have had my DIY disasters, but my last professional colour where I asked to go to my natural colour, had me come home in tears. Now 6 weeks later I am going to DIY a darker brown–I am taking a break from blonde too. Good job!
So happy that Alexa is feeling better! โฅ
And you… YOU LOOK FABULOUS! Oh my goodness… I didn’t recognize your picture at first, then I was reading the title, trying to put 2 and 2 together…
Lauren – this color and cut is just perfect on you! I love it when “mistakes” turn into blessings, don’t you? You look absolutely beautiful!
Your story made me chuckle in a horrified kinda way – probably why I’ve never dyed my hair.
Hugs!!!
I love the new look, Lauren. The darker color makes your blue eyes pop.
Glad to hear Alexa is on the road to recovery.
You look gorgeous Lauren!
So glad to hear that Alexa is doing well!
Hugs, Kelly
So glad to hear Alexa is better! whew! scary!
And your hair!! Girl, it’s gorgeous! It make syour eyes even more sparkley blue…who knew that could be possible?? Love it! Truly! from a girl who’s been nothing but blond her whole life too ๐

You hair is beautiful.. Your skin looks good. Glad to hear your daughter is doing much better. I just love to read your blog all the stuff you say makes me feel like I have know you and your family for a lil bit . When in fact I don”t know if I will ever meet you.
I have to say that I really prefer the new color to the blonde …. totally amazing and suits you to a tee!
I don’t know if you realize how much more beautiful your eyes are when your hair is dark!! I say keep the color it’s gorgeous on you!!
You look awesome!!! Keep your hair dark, it’s amazing!! So glad Alexa is doing well ๐
Oooooh! you look lovely… but I can’t begin to imagine how traumatized you must have been with your psychedelic hair – what a laugh you will have looking back though! Glad Alexa is doing well … kind regards
You look absolutely fabulous. The darker hair shows off your beautiful blue eyes so much more. I love it!
Lauren your hair looks fantastic! I did a double-take when your blog page came up. (I possibly had my mouth open in shock!) I think you look younger! Love the colour and cut. Once when my sister dyed my hair it went black (I have light – medium brown hair naturally) and it felt like elastic, was stringy and just snapped off. I cried for days and had to cut it into a short bob. The things we women do! On another note…glad to hear Alexa is on the mend. Love and hugs, Susan xxox
OMG, you are so funny! I LOVE your new look! From one brunette to another ;), you look more natural (I think brunette suits your skin tone) and your eyes just pop! I hope you learn to like it!
There was a reason your hair started turning dark when you were young….it looks great on you!! Keep it! Glad to hear Alexa is doing better. You are a great mom and good for you making sure the doctors listened to you when treating her.
It looks GORGEOUS!
I think you look fabulous!!! And the cut is wonderful! The color brightens your face so much. It’s beautiful!!!!
I love the new hair color! Your eyes were pretty before and now they really pop. What a beautiful effect!
Oh, I forgot to say one thing. It makes your blue eyes stand out more.
Lauren
I have to say while I loved your blonde hair I totally love it darker better. I think it brings out more of your features especially your beautiful eyes and coloring on your face. I definitely would keep it darker it suits you better and it’s more naturally looking. Besides the fact it will be easier to
take care of.
Glad to hear Alexa is on the mend. She is in my thoughts and prayers for sure!
YOU LOOK FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You have brighter skin tones, bluer eyes and the cut and color are so atractive, you look so much younger and vibrant.
I just want to say you look gorgeous! It really doesn’t matter what color your hair is, you are simply beautiful both inside and out! You continually amaze me with your family activities and your creations. Don’t ever change who you are-very special!
Oh my Lauren…no-one knows their children better than their Mother, thank god they listened to you and did those x-rays!! You saved her from what could’ve been a nightmare…well done to you and those doctors for listening and so pleased Alexa is getting better!! As for your hair…..I love it! It absolutely suits you and your skin tone. Your eyes seem to pop now and look alot bluer….really lovely! Thank you for your gorgeous inspiration ๐ Bonnie x
Oh my goodness, Lauren, is there ever a dull moment at your house? ((((HUGS)))
I am so glad Alexa is doing better.
And I really like your hair. The cut is adorable, and I like the color. It is pretty on you. Any big change like that takes a few days to get used to though. And if you don’t warm up to it, they can dye it back.
First of all, I’m glad to hear that Alexa is doing better and I’m glad to hear she is on the road to recovery…sending her healthy hugs!
Secondly, you look GORGEOUS! Your hair turned out beautifully! I love the length and colour! It has such a soft look now and you look like you have so much colour in your cheeks! Love it girl!!!
You may just have inspired me to do SOMETHING with my hair now! It’s time for a change for me….I just had my 20 year high school reunion and people say I look the same! ACK! Is that bad or good, right? hehe!
Your hair is beautiful. It really becomes you and I like it much better than the blonde. Your skin looks wonderful and your eyes really pop. Keep this new look, it is definately you.
Wow i love the hair makes you look younger !!if i may say.
Glad Alexa is responding to treatment feeling better .i have 2 sick daughters at the moment i totaly agree keeping her off the extra week as the germs seem to be rife.
have agood day take care hugs judex
I think your hair looks gorgeous!! I love the little tint of chestnut. I am a “fake” redhead. I am about half grey at 37 years and have been dying my hair since I was in my early 20’s because of grey. I tried so many different colors, but “red” seems to work the best for me. I have naturally dark brown hair and it’s just too dark for me, so the red really tones it down some. I also have blue eyes, so it makes my eyes stand out.
I think your new color really makes your beautiful eyes stand out as well! The final look is gorgeous!!

The POSITIVE thing, even though it’s a huge change for you, is that it looks great on you. The colorist did a great job, and you may grow to like it darker in these few weeks until you can highlight. I am the same as you (but older) — I’ve never been anything but blonde and I don’t think I can be anything but blonde, so I continue to get my hair done. I tried doing it myself a couple of times, and while I didn’t have the same results as you, it still wasn’t what I wanted and I ended up back at the salon. I wish I had your guts to try something different! But your situation ended up wonderful for you! The hair color goes *perfectly* with your skin and eye coloring.
Lauren, I have to say I love your new color! It really makes your eyes pop! My daughter is a cosmotologist and, trust me, she was so daring with her hair before and after the license! One time she tried to bleach her warm brown hair blond and it turned as yellow as a banana!! We laugh about it now! I love your hair! I love the cut and the color and I think you should keep it like that – at least for a year. Change is good! You were beautiful before and you are still beautiful!
Love the hair!! As I believe most other people said…had you been a scrapbooker, I would have asked if you had taken pictures of the 8 colors! LOL
Glad it all worked out and glad Alexis is feeling better..
OK not that you need my opinion but you look fabulous! Dont highlight, dont go back LOL! This color makes your face brighter and healthier in the picture anyway – it looks great ๐ So glad Alexa is doing better too ๐
Hi Lauren!!
I am So glad to hear Alexa is doing better! You have a ton of people praying for her and your family!!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE your hair!!! I am a cosmetologist by trade, and I just love it. It shows off your eyes and it darkens your skin tone. Just beautiful!!
I love it Lauren…. Great for the Fall Season…. I too color my hair and I change with the seasons… just did mine Sunday night and now a reddish brunette~ Enjoy the new you!
Lauren, you would look beautiful with green hair or any other color of hair, but I think you look stunning as a brunette with your skin coloring! So glad to hear Alexa is feeling better too!
I’m partial to blondes (for obvious reasons!) but I like your new do. I dye my hair and have been for YEARS – I guess it’s just the type you buy and how you do it. ๐
Well I think the current color looks great! I can totally relate to your story. I had always been blonde and then one day my hair went dark. Yes, in one day! Family asked me if I dyed it, but I hadn’t. I was pretty upset so I started highlighting. Highlighting worked great until I got too much gray (started going gray at age 21) so now I do full color. Good luck with your follicle fun!
I have to agree with the other ladies. I think this color looks so good on you! I honestly like it better then the blond cause it does make your skin and eyes richer. I turned my hair green once as a teenager and my dad made me go to school with it to teach me a lesson about messing with my hair color lol. Seems alot of us have our own horror hair color stories haha
I’m so glad Alexa is doing better. Good for you.
I think the new hair colour looks gorgeous and rich. Makes you think maybe there are no accidents when it comes to such things. This really looks great and you wouldn’t have done that on your own. Perfect for this time of year too.
Wow, the color of your hair is gorgeous. It compliments your skin tone and yes, it brings out the color of your eyes. Enjoy the new change!!!
I am so pleased to know that Alexa is feeling better.
love the new look! Very Stunning!
You look so pretty with your new hair colour!! What a wonderful result from a really bad hair colouring experience!
So glad to hear that Alexa is doing better!
*hugs*
Your hair cut is great. Lights you up. The color is beautiful. It really warms your face up!! I LOVE it!
I had to laugh when I read your story, because I think many of us have been there. I once frosted my own hair, only to completely strip all the pigment out … it looked like cooked spaghetti. I, too, faced many shocked looks when I walk into the only salon that could take me immediately. I’m glad yours had a happy ending. I love the cut and color. The color is nice with your skin tone.
Glad to hear Alexa is feeling better as well.
You look great, Lauren! We’ve had similar hair histories. My hair was always blond growing up, but as I got older it got darker, so I colored & highlighted it. Recently, I went back to my natural color, remembering what a young, striking silver-haired woman said to me years ago (about her own hair)…that God probably knew what he was doing when he gave it to her (why do none of us women ever think that?!). Now, no roots, no upkeep…it’s nice! I also had long hair until years ago when I went for a haircut & told her to do whatever she wanted, even short! I loved it & have had it short ever since! It’s fun & it’s only hair, right? Anyway, I love your new look. The color really shows off your eyes.
So thankful that Alexa is doing better. Gotta love that maternal instinct…even when people think we’re crazy!
FWIW, I think it makes you look far more glamorous! I absolutely love it!
Just gorgeous…. your new look is fantastic!!!!!!
Congratulations on the bravery of changing the color of your hair, it was worth it.
best regards,
Love your new look. It makes your blue eyes POP! Glad to know Alexa is much better. You did good mom!
So glad Alexa is ressponding to the antibotics.
Change is always good. If you decide later you dont like it you can change it again.
I’ve used boxed dye for years. The only one that turned my hair from dark brown to an awful brassy orange 2 weeks after I dyed it was Loreal. Never used it again. My best friend is Miss Clairol.
OMGosh…..I did this pnce too and $300 later it was finally fixed. I have light blonde hair and it turned bright orange! In fact, my husband just reminded me about a few days ago! It looks beautiful now, tho! :). Glad Alexa is starting to feel better. One of my boys (not my asthmatic) woke up with 101 and a bad cough today. Off to the dr! ~Tori
Lauren ~ you probably don’t want to hear this, but I think the blue, white, gray color mishap was the best thing that could have happened to you. I really like the chestnut color on you much better than the blonde. The chestnut color really shows off your eyes beautifully. It also softens your look which makes you look much younger. As for the cut, I have to admit that I have secretly wanted you to cut your hair shorter and add a few layers for a while now. I know you were “attached” to your longer hair, but I think having it shorter looks so much better and is much more stylish. When hair is so long, it kind of just hangs there rather than when it is shorter, it frames your face and enhances your beautiful features. I think this new color and cut does just that………..frames your face making your blue eyes pop and the fact that it makes you look younger is a great bonus. At least it would be for me. ๐
I hope that in the next four weeks you will grow to love the new color as much as others do. Instead of highlighting it, maybe you could cut another inch or two off the length. I’m not saying get short hair by any means, just another inch or two. I’m just saying. ๐
Oh Lauren,
It is stunning! Guess you got the change you wanted. I totally understand about the blonde thing-been dyeing mine for years now and love it, but change is an awesome thing. Isn’t it fun being a girl? We can change our look and not get stuck in a rut like guys. Enjoy!
I know it is not what you planned, but I think the new color is absolutely beautiful!!! I think this is the hair color you were meant to have. It is really stunning! While you may change it back in the future, please know that you look beautiful right now, as well!!
LOL, what a story!! I think the new hair color looks fabulous on you!! Glad to hear Ms. Alexa is feeling better.
You look amazing!! The new color compliments you and warms up your face. I think I prefer the chestnut color to the blonde.
Glad Alexa is feeling better!!
Love the new hair cut and color. It makes your beautiful features pop. So happy that Alexa is doing better.
I only recently started following your blog so I just want to say Hi! first. I went back and read all about your daughter. I am as amazed by your strength and love for her as I am by your works of art.
As for your hair, below the shoulder is so not short! (From someone who also wants a change from the same look I have had since high school but is too scared to have anything other than dark long hair.) LOL With your beautiful complexion that hair color looks amazing!
I think that’s a great color for you! You look beautiful!
Been there myself Lauren so I know the panic you were feeling. I do think the color is really nice on you, and the cut is wonderful! Lookin’ good GF!
I LOVE the color, rich and warm. Keep it!!
I think you look fabulous!!! And the cut is wonderful! And such good news Alexa is feeling better.
Lauren,
I have to say I LOVE your hair!!! Your blue eyes really pop and it looks great on you. The cut and the color are fabulous!!!
So glad that Alexa is better, I have been praying for her. By the way I showed my hubbie your pic and he likes the new you!
As a brunette, maybe my opinion is biased, but I honestly like the brunette hair. I think it looks better with your complection than the blonde. It seems to make your skin look “tanner” and makes your eyes pop. And, it’s perfect for fall! ๐ I think it’s a great change!
Hi Lauren,
I am so glad to hear Alexa is doing well. And as for your new look, I think it’s stunning. Truly! Love the length and layers. Your stylist/colorist should be given an Oscar. She did an amazing job with the chestnut color. I think you look beautiful. Being open to change is a gift. Life is filled with lovely surprises. I think you’re going to love this new look!
Your hair story was almost as terrifying as Alexa’s latest illness. I’m gad she is doing better. And, you look great with your new style and color!
Your hair looks awesome. Really makes your skin glow!
Lauren, what a story! I have to say, that I too think you look wonderful – the color compliments your skin tone and makes really lets your beautiful eyes shine. Plus the style of the cut is fantastic! You still have long hair – but it looks so swingy!
You look fabulous! It just makes your eyes pop! I say – keep it!
I absolutely LOVE the new color and it does make your eyes look bluer. What does your husband think of the new color?
I had a similar experience and turned my hair pink. I was in Nursing School at the time and couldn’t go to school with my hair pink. So I had to go to the hairdresser and she had to darken my hair too. ha ha!!! That was 20 years ago now. And, I learned my lesson and go to a hairdresser to color my hair ever since.
I am glad your daughter is doing better. I am sure it is scary when she gets sick.
You are a beautiful woman….BUT that color is STUNNING…I thought…oh I can’t look….she will look awful…..what a surprise. LEAVE IT HAVE A GEAT DAY ENJOYING ALL THE COMPLIMENTS!!!!!!
My daughter had a story like yours.. only her hair turned bright orange! She laughs about it now.
oh my! what a great story! At least they were able to fix it and and honestly, I think it’s a very flattering color on you! you look great!
I like this color on you better than the blonde.
OMG!!! I have to say I never make comments…more of a lurker, but you look so FAB. Not to say anything bad about the profile pic with the blonde hair….but this new color is just so stunning!!!! It really makes a statement, and what better time to change the color than this season……I so love the hair….YOU GO GIRL!!!!!
OMG Lauren…what a fun story (even if it wasn’t so fun for you!). Loving the new look!
You can dye your own hair if you are keeping the same shades, but not going from blonde to brunette. No way Jose!! Now pictures of the funky clown hair would have been a better addition to this post. Who cares what other people think about your hair color? Really? Do they take are of your children/family and pay your bills? Good story, but pics would have really topped it off.
LMAO! I just about pee’d in my pants laughing, that was a funny story. I’m so sorry this happened to you, something similar happened to me years ago except instead of the dye making my hair light brown it turned it bright orange! I gave that carrot-top guy a run for his $$$.
Needless, to say, I’m glad you were able t get it fixed, this new color looks great on you.
I’d write a letter to the dye manufacturer and provide the serial #’s found on the box and bottles.
OMGosh, you sure went thru a harrowing experience!!! I’m glad it turned out so well in the end. Thank goodness for professional stylists, huh??!!
Your hair cut AND color is beautiful…I think you will get accustomed to it, and be loving it in no time! And if you don’t….well, you can always go back to blonde!
Blessings to you, and I’m SO happy to hear Alexa is better. I know it’s very scary when she is ill.
Have a great week! HUGS to you! ๐
I absolutely LOVE the new cut!!! Think it makes you look younger and the layers frame your face wonderfully ๐ As for the colour, I love it too. Not too dark — good one you for not letting them go darker! — and a lovely shade. It makes your blue/green eyes shine ๐ I think you have a wonderful outcome to your shocking beginning!
I love it! I think it looks great.
Gorgeous.
I think you look soooo glam!! The style is soft and color is gorgeous, but man–what an ordeal!!
Poor you!!!…but thanks for making me laugh! (Sorry!!) I love the bit about your husband’s reaction…and your comments to the stylist with the green hair. Did you get a photo of your hair before you went to the salon? I have dark, dark brown (some people say black) hair but with a lot of natual highlights and have to say…I like having dark hair, but I can understand your pain. I think they did a great job…you look great…it gives such a soft look to your face.
I also read your post about Alexa…so sorry to hear how scary that must have been but so glad to hear that she is doing better. How amazing for her that they listend to you…I think that says a lot about you, as her mom and a person. And that you followed your instinct and got her to the hospital…nothing else in the world like that mother bear instinct…good for you!
Wishing you all well…
I really think it looks great… And it does bring out your eyes better… That cut is so dang cute too I think you look younger even…
I am glad to read that Alexa is doing better…
reflections:0)
I think the new hair color looks fabulous on you! It really goes will with your skin tone. You definately gave me a giggle, when you discussed your husbands reaction. (sorry) I have found that hairdresser with wild color hair or hair half done are the best stylists.
I’m glad to hear Alexa is doing much better.
I enjoy reading your blog – thank you for the inspriation.
N
Wow! You look gorgeous, Lauren, with the new “do” and hair color!! Sorry you had to go through such trauma to get to this though!
So happy to hear Alexa is healing and doing better. Please give her a kiss for me!
I love the new color on you – it really makes your blue eyes shine.
Lauren you CRACK ME UP! I’m so sorry you had to go thru all of that! I’m a avid hair colorer and normally just do it myself (i cant find a colorist i like as much as the one i had when i lived in LA). I’m curious to know what dye you used! I’ll steer clear of that one! But i love love love the way it turned out!
I think your hair looks absolutely stunning and gorgeous and you should keep it that colour! I thought you were beautiful with blonde hair but you are even more so now! Wow!
And I am so glad to read that Alexa is doing better, I keep her in my prayers and hopefully she’ll be all fine soon!
Love, Alex
Bawhaaaa! Look how beautiful you are! They say “It hurts to be beautiful”. You look mahvalous, dahling! I went blond once. Tried to touch up too soon and the hair on the top of my head turned to mush! Hello wig! When the hair grew ut it was grey brown. I know how you feel. Now I just laugh! At least you came out of this beautiful
Sharon L
I think that this is the perfect hair color for you! It looks wonderful! I have a lot of friends that started out as blonde and then their color just naturally darkened with time. But this is a beautiful color on you! I hope that you keep it! Glad to hear that Alexa is doing better!
I am a hairstylist and I have seen it all. For the record…it IS best to pay to have your hair colored if you want it to look good. You pay MUCH more when you have to have a color correction but I have to say that you hair color is gorgeous and you look gorgeous. It really brings out your eyes and enhances your skin color.
OH my gosh!! I am glad you were able to get it fixed.. it looks so PRETTY! You would never know what you went through to get it to this shade!!!
So happy your sweet Alexa is doing well!!!
I really like this color on you – its a great fall/winter color. Would love to see the rainbow hair as well ๐
Oh Lauren, this is such a lovely color for you, it looks so pretty and you have such a rosey glow! Your Mom will absolutely love it and you might want to consider going darker in the winter months and lightening up in the summer!
FAB-ulous new look!!
OK it has been for EVER and I am sorry but that is actually a good thing because I am on a few design teams that are keeping me busy along with working full time in Special Education. GIRL!! I am the Freakin Queen of VAIN and I started out laughing out loud, literally then I was numb with shock, as well as, being on the verge of tears.
DO NOT PUT HIGHLIGHTS in your hair…….. You did not look bad Lauren but , this color is gorgeous on YOU. You look 10 years younger, healthy, active and Damn SEXY!!!
Hugz,
Justine
Apparently I’m not the only one to think so, but you look really great with your new hair cut. I think it suits you.
As soon as I saw the picture, I thought Wow! Thats looks good on her. Your cut is perfect and I like the darker color on you, too. I know everyone has said it, but even though I seldom make comments- I had to give my thoughts, too.
Oh wow you look wonderful despite the story to get to this colouring, I’d like to know who made your gorgeous butterfly signature?
I love it! I think that chestnutish color works very well with your complexion.
I think your hair looks fantastic and i would keep it that way. funny how sometimes and boo boo can turn out fantastic. you look wonderful and i am so glad that your daughter is doing better. Good for you to stand your ground and make them listen to you. You know your daughter.
take care
Oh wow….I am a totally honest person when it comes to hair and fashion so when I say you look 10 years younger with this darker hair than the blond hair I am telling the truth! This is fab. I would not get highlights…at least not until April/May. All the fashion forecasts are dark hair, solid colors or color blocks, but no highlights ๐
Had to share!
Really, though, you look great!!!
Wow, what a story. I think you look amazing and the new hairstyle is very flattering–honest! I’m glad that it all worked out in the end.
That’s great that Alexa is doing better.
Oh Lauren! What an ordeal!!! I will say, comparing the brunette shot to the blonde on the right…the brunette looks like her much younger sister! ๐ Work it, girl!
Lauren,
I really like your hair this color and the haircut is a “wow”, it frames your face beautifully. I vote to keep it dark.
carol b
Lauren,
I have to say your hair looks FAB!!!!! But what a way to go!
I think you should keep it that color…it really looks wonderful!
Glad to hear Alexa is getting better.
You look fabulous! It’s a great cut, and the colour really brings out your eyes. You look even younger if anything!
Your hair looks great! It makes you look gorgeous and younger (not that you need to look any younger than you already do!). If I was you, I would save the $$$ and forget about the highlights… once you start, you are a slave to them, and you don’t need them.
I’m glad to hear that Alexa is doing better!
Love the new color on you. It really suits you. Glad to hear Alexa is on the mend.
Love the new hair color and cut. It looks fantabulous!!!!
Don’t get any highlights, your hair looks great just the way it is.
Have a great week!
This change is stunning! It gives you great color to your complexion and eyes as well. Glad your little one is better. BTW, you are a very smart and caring lady given the fact you are keeping her home not only for her protection as well as others. Let’s hope everyone out there is as considerate.
HI Lauren,
Been super busy here too as for your hair it looks great the color makes your eyes POP and we all know about popping colors!!! so glad Alexais better, I too am in quandry about the h1n1 for my hannah, who is very medically involved!!! My pediatrician says yes but i am still questioning it for a while niether one of my girls have had any new vaccines that have come out after 1991. Hannah just went to boston and she lost 3 1/2 lbs which when you are only 4’4″tall and weighed 76.7 lbs and nnow is 73lbs i am now worrried we need to beef up her night time feeding and so much more but back to you and Alexa love the hair and as you know for these kids we can’t just jump when new vaccines tell us how high!!! good luck with your decisions in the future and your always in our prayers!!
take care
Tammy Tansey (Cape Cod)
I have been there, done that and it is so traumatic!! You look so beautiful~ I have never posted a comment to anyone in my life, but I just had to tell you. Take care.
You look beautiful with the new hair color!! Course, you were gorgeous before too…but I love the new look! Dyed my hair a few times myself and once, I ended up with orange and brown streaks…looked like a fan of the Bengals and I hate football. And it was the day before Mother’s Day or Mother’s Day of all days. I think I skipped church that day and re-dyed my hair with another color and ended up being OK. But I haven’t done it myself since.
So glad to hear that Alexa is doing OK too!
LOVE it!! The color is amazing but I really love the length.
I’ve been dyeing my mousy brown hair a medium auburn color fo years, and I’ve almost always done it myself. I guess I’ve been lucky! And I won’t use anything other than L’Oreal Preference Creme. But honestly, I think you look gorgeous! The color looks so natural on you. If I hadn’t already seen you with blonde hair I would have sworn that this was your natural color. Have fun with it!!
Looks good! Adds wonderful color to your face. I think the short chin length hair would have been fabulously chic. You have kind of a long face that the short length might have softened. Got any pictures of the before? ๐
I think you look great and I know how you feel. I actually wnet to a salon, not my normal and they turned my hair pink. It was bad and I had to add some dye myself to fix it. Then went to my normal gal and she fixed it. Glad everyone is feeling better.
It looks just beautiful Lauren! You would look amazing with whatever hair you have because you are so gorgeous! I can completely understand how you felt as I had a Hair mishap not that long ago….I don’t think I cried so hard before! Glad to hear that Alexa is doing well ๐
Take care of yourself!
Love keesh x
Lauren, you look fantastic! Your hair is gorgeous and it makes your blue eyes look blue as blue can be! You look like a teenager! I’m so glad to hear that Alexa is getting better. Enjoy your new look!
Love the new hair color! Gives your face a softer, warmer glow. Glad all is better in your world.
I LOVE IT! you look great. Yes, different but in a good way. That’s color is great and makes you eyes pop.. Great things must be happening in your life! Embrace the new look and the new changes.
Hugs.
Okay I know that there are already over 200 comments, but hey your a woman, we need all the assurance we can get sometimes. Your hair looks amazing! I love the cut, but that color; wow! It looks great with your skin tone, and it may be just the change that you needed. ๐ Glad to hear that Alexa is doing well. *hugs*
I love the new “do”…the color is great for you….makes you look younger to me!! Glad to hear Alexa is doing better…
Your hair looks great!! A change is always good, but sometimes hard to accept.
WOW! I love the new look. The color makes your eyes pop!
Your hair looks fabulous! very elegant and polished. It is an updated look, you looked a lot like high school with the long blond curls. (Not criticizing, just an observation!)
Lauren the hair looks fabulous darling! I have been doing my own hair for quickly coming up on 3 years. As a matter of fact I just did mine tonight. My DH is very pleased with the color. I have naturally dark hair and the last 2 time there was too much red coloring in it. I have it back to normal and now my hair feels fabulous!! I REALLY like the new look girl!
Thank goodness Alexa is feeling better like Mommy!!!
PS I mix my own colors to get the color I have too!!!!!
Lauren,
I am so glad to hear that Alexa is feeling better! I absolutely love your new color. It really makes your skin glow and your eyes pop! I always go darker in the fall and winter. That story was so funny. I once had a nasty experience with a color that my stylist did. She swore the color would wash out. Not! My husband said that I looked like a hooker. Trust me, it was not pretty!
I love the new color! I have to say, in all of the photos that I’ve seen of you, I never noticed your eyes as much as in this new one. The hair color really makes the color of your eyes stand out beautifully!
Hi! I visit your blog daily but I’ve never written before now although I love your works. I want to say that your new look is fabulous, your eyes look bluer and the new cut give you great and modern elegance.
Have a great day
Hugs from Italy
This is just a lovely look for you. I have to admit, I wasn’t crazy about the way you were wearing your hair, and hoped that ’30’ would be the magic # for a change. I totally changed my hair, but I wasn’t brave enough to do it until 40. I am 60 now and could probably use another change. We need to do this for ourselves and I’m glad you did.
Glad to hear your Alexa is recovering nicely.
Hi Lauren
Glad to hear Alexa is recovering.
Your hair looks amazing and I would have cried my eyes out if it were me – but hey the results are just beautiful x
Hi Lauren,
Sorry, I had to laugh at your story… the “clown” comment was such a riot…LOL! But after all, I think you look great! That color definitely “adds” to your skin ๐
hi lauren!
you story was too funny, but i’ve gotta tell you sweetie you look amazing! your eyes just totally pop and you are just glowing! the new color just makes your skin tone looks beautiful. i think you look fabulous! who ever took your picture did a great job too!
It looks great..Your eyes look even brighter.
When I was in my 20’s I went to a hairdresser who dyed my hair..I am a brunette and wanted a few highlights…Well she dyed my hair CRANBERRY…She had the nerve to tell me it looked natural..My dad was sitting in the office when I walked in and he said HOLY CRAP what did you do to your hair…The young man I had a crush on said YOU LOOK LIKE YOU STUCK YOUR HEAD IN EASTER EGG DYE.. Yep, cried all the way home.. ha ha.. what a memory.. I color my hair myself now.. Use the same dye each time so it looks the same each time…
I love your new color and style.it looks great on you. I had an experience with a bad dye, except it was at a salon.I went to a cheaper place and wanted highlights.Well when the girl took off the cap my hair was school bus yellow.I started to cry , it took 3 colors to fix it .It fried my hair and I also took off about 8 inches. I will gladly pay the extra money. I am glad your daughter is better.
Lauren, it’s beautiful! Absolutely lovely on you. I love the color and it is very flattering. Honestly, I like it better than blonde and I always thought you were very pretty. Happy to hear Alexa is feeling better too.
Lauren it looks great…and Kudoos to you with your daughter and the way you handled the doctors. I have the opposite, as far it’s not my child its me who is sick, but I have learned nobody knows ourselves like we do and we are are only true advocate.
You look beautiful as a blonde….BUT I REALLY REALLY like the brunette! Your eyes just POP!!!! It’s a GREAT change… ๐ Great cut too!
OH I just love this color on you, really looks natural and beautiful, wow what an ordeal you have gone through, I am thinking about starting to dye my hair you see the grays are starting to come in, and they are getting thick around my temples, will see what I end up doing.
So good to hear Alexia is doing well!
Hmmmm I’m not even sure I would call this brunette but I WOULD call it GORGEOUS. It looks really natural on you – like it was meant to be – sorry for the horrific experience though. EEEEK. BUT you are beautiful inside AND out so no worries. One good thing about hair – it always grows back LOL, Hugs and smiles Lauren
Lauren,
You look fabulous! I LOVE the new color. I, personally, have had auburn/red hair for about 15 years (started dyeing right after highschool!), and I love it! I tried getting highlights, though, a couple years ago, and kinda the same effect that you did, although my hair was red, orange, yellow, white and even a little pink!!! Needless to say, I’m sure my husband’s face matched your husbands’ when he first saw it!! I got it taken care of, but it took a couple dye jobs to really get it back to “normal”!! It is true, though, your hair will grow out and you’ll be able to change it again, soon…but stay with the darker color! It is gorgeous!!
I’m so glad to hear that Alexa is doing better, too! I keep her in my prayers often!
Have fun with the “new” you!!!
Michelle
I think you look so pretty with this new color!! In the photo it looks like a strawberry blonde, not so much brunette, but I love it on you!!
Hugs
Jod =)
I love the colour and it suits you so well! Keep it! You look young and healthy. Keep it!!! (You looked nice as a blonde too, but the brown is a great change for a bit!!!) I love it Lauren!
LOVE IT!!!! and I dare say that beside your other pic, it makes you look younger!!! (not that you look old or anything!!!)…. Definitely a happy mistake!!!
Diane
Both looks are beautiful on you. Keeping fingers crossed for Alexa’s quick recovery!
First up, so glad to hear that your daughter is doing better now, you are a very inspirational Mom…and secondly, you are a very inspirational BRUNETTE…I LOVE your hair, and it makes your eyes shimmer look jewels on my screen (is that corny?!)…anywho, I say KEEP it…your new avatar is amazing!
Ok—I’m a bit behind on my blog surfing—but I must say—I LOVE you in Chestnut—really! It makes your eyes just POP! Of course, I’m a brunette and everyone in my family are, so I’m probably a bit biased—REALLY love the cut AND the color! I’d stick with it—very chic~
I’ve never seen your pictures as a blond but my story is so similar to yours that I just had to share it. Just a month ago I had blue/gray/purple-ish hair after trying to go from blond (most of my life) to brunette. I was doing it at 10:00 p.m. on a Sunday night and my husband tried to convince me it didn’t look as bad as I thought and so after a little research on the internet I spent the next two hours working on it and toned it down alot. In the light of day though it wasn’t fixed at all! I went to work the next day before fixing it that night with a product that strips your color off before you add a new one. It looked much better. Whew!! What memories we are making for us and everyone around us!
I love it, it does make your eyes stand out. Now you can test the theory whether or not blondes have more fun – or see if people think your smarter just b/c of the darker hair. My mom has colored her own hair for 20+ years I will never forget the year she decided she didn’t like the color and tried to get it out herself. Her hair fell out in large melted clumps. Maybe when you go back for highlights you can get red. I’ve always wanted to try the auburn look. Have fun with it.
You look stunnng .. and to think you kicked butt before as a blond .. just think what you can do now .. you will move mountains. I am a blond, and have been considering the same thing with my hair .. nice job!
Glad to hear your angel is better .. will continue to keep her in my prayers .. all of you, as well.
Thanks for you!
I love this new hair cut and color. It gives you a warm glow and fits the shape of your face perfectly. It’s a keeper! I can literally see the glow coming from your inner soul! It is beautiful! Have a blessed day! Marilyn
i had to laugh when i read your hair story. i did that too before i went to cosmetology school lol! just remember “red filler” next time you want to color and to ALWAYS FILL IT FIRST when you’re going to a darker color from blonde. the color will grab it’s base undertones on hair that’s been colored blonde. hope that helps! you look great!
I have to say… I love the new color and cut! It’s gorgeous! The color fits the time of year, very warm and glowy! The colorist did a fantastic job! Kudos to her for enhancing your beauty even more. ๐
your new color looks amazing! and I really love the cut! your stylist did a great job! ๐
you look hot babe for a mother of 3 beautiful angels xx a change is as good as a holiday xx i wanted to dread mine when i turned 30 but it was very painful and time consuming so we stopped half way thru lol
glad your big girl is well again xx
I think you should have gotten darker. Your hair will lighten up A LOT in the next 4 weeks, you might not want the highlights! ๐ It looks great on you.
As for the flu, sorry I arrive after the battle but if anyone has signs of beginning of flu you need oscillococcinum (www.oscillo.com). It’s an homeopathic medicine that has no side effects and would be safe for alexa too, whatever other treatments she’s taking. I have been using this in France since I was a child and it works like a miracle cure at getting you rid of the bodyaches and chills…. And a lot of supermarkets carry it now (your beloved Target does…). Trust me on this one. I always have some at home and it “saved” me a couple of times!! ๐
Lauren, I know you have tons of comments that say to you how good you look, believe me, they are right you look so much modern and your eyes look amazing.
And let me tell you something Not all the times a specialist does a good job dyeing your hair, once the โspecialistโ damaged my hair so much that it was falling apart in pieces
[…] gray hair! I’ve always had long blond, curly hair, until one recent “episode” (You can read that here if you missed it). Now that my hair is shorter I figured why not get a cut I always admired but never thought I […]
