Lauren - I've kept this post "unread" in my Google reader for the last few weeks and am finally writing a comment. I'm sorry that you had to go through that with Alexa and hope she's doing better now. I know only a small part of how it feels with my older daughter, Madeline, who is 5. She has asthma, eczema and multiple food allergies. She was hospitalized 1 week after her first birthday because of her asthma. It's so scary having our little ones sick and in a strange place. I get so frustrated when Madeline is sad that she can't be just like the other kids and eat what they can or run around when they do. But I am so thankful to God that she is in my life and that these are the only medical issues we have to work through. I admire you and the strength you have. I also am in awe of your talent and thank you for sharing it through your design teams and your blog. I look forward to reading your posts.

Lauren, you are so truly inspirational. You deal with so much as a mum and yet you have regular (gorgeous!) blog updates sharing your passion with papercraft. I just don't know how you do it. I shed a tear as I read this post and I'm sorry your baby girl is sick again. My prayers are with your family. Thank-you for generously sharing so much of yourself with us.

Lauren, pray over your children, especially Alexa, anoint them with oil and speak verses from the Bible about healing & health over them. You do not have to accept sickness & flu. If you put the reports of doctors above the report of the Lord, you are making an idol of the doctors because you believe their word above the Word of the Lord. That's what I remind myself when I think someone is getting sick in my family. You have to be assertive & aggressive against this flu stuff. Pray & medicate is my motto. We have prayed away sickness several times already this season.

That card is the best Lauren...I love that image!

Don't moms know everything? I think you should get your own Nobel for all the harrowing things you have to deal with when it comes to Alexa. Much like my Avery, nothing is ever so simple as a "cold" or "flu"...good for the docs for going the extra mile to catch the pneumonia early (Ave had RSV last winter and they missed it...grr!).

Everyone should have a mother who cares about them like you do your child. Hope Alexa is feeling much better soon.

I just wanted to let you know I am thinking about your daughter and I know how you feel. My son has been fighting cancer since he was a year and a half and his tumor has just begun to grow again. He is now 7 and my heart is just breaking for him because I cant make it go away. So I know how you feel. If you ever need to talk to someone I am always available. My children are my light and a sick child teaches you so many things that no one would ever imagine. I have three children Dante 7, Julia 4 and Gabriel 1.

NO ONE knows a child like their mother. Kudos to you for taking decisive, definitive action - you quite possibly saved Alexa's life - AGAIN! You are such a great Mom!

Thank you for relating this story. I'm an R.N. and was delighted to hear how well you were treated at the hospital. There are many caring, dedicated, hard working, and well trained doctors and nurses. Unfortunately we usually only hear the horror stories. And you have no idea how much a little thank you card or gift of candy is appreciated by the medical staff. They know they are doing a good job, but we all like to hear a little compliment and praise once in a while. And on those crazy-busy days or nights when a lunch or dinner break is non-existent, a piece of candy you can pop in your mouth to boost that energy level (and quiet the growling stomach) is like a little piece of heaven!
