Saturday! My favorite day of the week! Watch out because Im LONG winded today
I have been creating up a storm here, and my mojo is on FULL SPEED AHEAD!
In creative mode I took a leap of insanity! This leads into my ” life is cruel “spiel.
On huge whim I chopped over 8 inches OFF MY HAIR!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It hasn’t been this short since I was 12! Granted it was almost at my waist so its not BOY hair, but to me its close! LOL!
Im freaking out a bit, I must say. You’ll see it in my next video. I want to die! LOL!!! I don’t know what came over me. I knew it needed a TRIM, so I started, then just kept CHOPPING. I mean CHANGE isn’t that bad right?
After I was done, I went to get some retail therapy to heal my upset over my poor hair episode! It was better than eatting the HUNDRED plus candy bars we have to sell for t-ball!! More of the life is cruel rant……
Now we are talking 112-KING SIZE yum-a-licious candy bars-Take 5 (my fave), Caramellos (OMW! another fave) Kit Kats, Reese Peanut butter cups, Hersheys’ and Hershey’s with Almonds.
LIFE can be so cruel sometimes! Can it get much worse in the area of temptation? Add PMS to the mix and forget it!
Not only is it EASTER candy time (my weakest time of year because of Cadbury Cream egge, and the Cadbury mini eggs which ONLY come out at Easter), but I get stuck with these 2 huge boxes of candy. NOT COOL!!!
I work out EVERYDAY! I have worked SOOO hard to get healthy, and avoid BINGING on candy! I’d probably get SICK-literally from the chocolate if I even attempted it.
have lost 62lbs and fit into my pre-kid clothes! I’m starting to get those 6 pack abs!! YEAH! I see definition starting! I have a “2 pack”! LOL! My stomach is flat-arms toned, thighs tight!! My butt looks good, and I can slip on a size 7! For being 5′10 -30 years old, and having 3 kids, thats awesome in my book! I REFUSE to let myself break down and feed (literally) into the temptation of those candy bars. I may have to lock them up, but I am not going to do it.
I had ONE Take 5 yesterday-after the box starred at me for almost a WEEK, and swear that is my limit!! I’m ready to raffle them off here, just to get rid of them.
This is what happens when you put TWO kids in t-ball. Not only do you have to pay $30 per child to register, but you then have to SELL 56 candy bars PER kid! If you don’t, you STILL have to pay for the box!
With the economy being so bad I think thats a little insane! Its basically costing $86 per kid to play baseball! Now MY kids aren’t old enough for “baseball camp” and other stuff. We are talking, whack the ball off a TEE kind of baseball. Can’t cost THAT much.
Anywho, can you tell Im stressed?!
If I can’t sell both boxes (we have to pay for them anyway) Im totally doing a LITERAL Blog Candy here! I’ll keep you posted!
I took a quick break to blog, and share the sketch for this week with you all.
I know! Did you forget that was the point of my post! LOL! Boy did I get off track today.
CLICK ON Mister Linky below to add your link!
———————————————–
Now if you blog hop you will know that Mister Linky is become QUITE popular! So I am jumping aboard and giving him a go. I think this feature will also help YOU blog hop to see other peoples versions of the sketch, each week!
Now MY Mister Linky is a bit different! I did join the membership, so I can have the “usual” Mister Linky you see everywhere else. BUT, I have to have a special template enabled on my blog template, before I can post that style of Mister Linky. So I hope to get that going next week. Its up to the blog powers that be-when they have time.
SUPER TIP!!
Now for those of you who blog, and are more FRUGAL
I found there is a FREE version! YEAH! Who doesn’t love free right??
That is the version I have installed here on my blog!
Does the SAME thing-just click it to add and view the links. Now they are all in one place, just pop up on a separate page.
Again this is the FREE version, and the other one will get installed here soon.
OK now onto the sketch!
I am so in love with it. I do want to take more time to make a few more, but have “work” to get done first.
Its Keyword mytimess26
Happiness is…
I in going to say “I love” a lot in the post I think! LOL!
I Love the outcome of this card!
I also love that I used 4 different stamp sets to get 1 complete look.
I used With Sympathy,on the base, and the scallop panel. I love the swirlyness of it. I added some flowers from Honey Bees.I actually like pulling flowers from various sets for adding to the vine, rather than using the ones that come IN the set! LOL!! You really should try mixing up your sets and maximizing the look. You don’t HAVE to stick to ONLY the images that come in a set. Take some creative liberty and try to mix and match. You will have so much fun if you do that.
I also used the PTI anniversary set, Everyday Classics. That can be seen HERE! I love the bird in that set, and found it was perfect for this too. The sentiment is from Tags for Spring. Another FAB set.
I adore the monochromatic feel this has. The monchromatic look is always a great way to go if
1) you are in a color rut!
2) have limited time
3) limited supplies
4) want to quickly mass produce a card set-that matches perfectly
5) want a striking look-easily!
I got this combo idea from my GORGEOUS dark pink new ribbon from —->My Little Ribbon Shop
The colors in this particular ribbon match Papertrey Ink Berry Sorbet cardstock, and then Stampin Up! Cranberry Crisp.
Its been a LONG time since I ordered ribbon, and have been sick of the ones I already have, so I ordered a few to spice up my collection
I got my order in 2 days! That was way quick!
Anywho, thats for stopping by, and I hope you try Mister Linky to add YOUR take on the sketch today.
Don’t miss what the Sketch Team did
I’m heading back to the stamp cave
I hope to get my template peeks done (WHEW!!) and 2 videos this weekend.
That should all keep my mind OFF the candy!
On a side note I have some new workout videos Im loving!! Since I talked so much about candy, I better discuss working out too! LOL!
One video I LOVE-Jason got me called Skinny B*tch (I got the body one)
( I know-not a nice name :C, and they do swear on the video, so if this language offends you, you won’t want to purchase it (or do it when the kids are home from school!!)) I will say that are pretty amusing during the workout (not the swearing part! LOL! Just the talking)
This is a fabulous workout! Talk about targeting areas I didn’t know existed even with other videos! That is great!! You want to keep your body guessing and always work new areas. I like that they are like 20 minute segments for particular “areas’. Its a great 6am workout (which is when I do it-pre-coffee too!). You aren’t JUMPING around, but get a amazing workout. Really works those are to tone areas. I think you can do it not matter what your fitness level is. I do have to say they are fabulous with the INSTRUCTIONS on HOW you do the exercises-you just gotta follow along and pick up where you can. You will get the moves on some after a few times doing the video. Like most, I say just go at your own pace, do what you can, and if you don’t make it through ALL of exercises just keep trying to improve!
Remember you don’t NEED to got the the gym to work out and get HEALTHY (remember NO DIETS! Diets are temporary and don’t really work long term for a reason!) Just make Healthier choices!
You can do it.
Now another I love is Denise Austin 5 minute Target Toners!
(Now Im not saying that I don’t still LOVE Mitch Gaylords workout! I do, and he still visits me once a week or so-but I need to mix it up or Ill get BORED!)
You MUST know WHO Denise Austin is! She has been around since I was a kid! My mom use to get up at 6am and do her workouts by the beach! LOL! I remember it like it was yesterday! LOL! All I can say is if THIS workout is what she does, to look THAT HOT at her age, count me in!!! She is in killer shape and has had 2 kids. When I grow up I want to be Denise Austin! LOL!
Another FABULOUS one-excellent for everyone! No jumping around either. Works on TARGETING those hard to tone areas. I swear she is the reason I lost another 4lbs, and 1 inch off my waist! I do her videos at 6 am too!
Now if you are going to TRY to tell my you can’t find 5 minutes in a day to get some areas worked on, YOU are only fooling yourself!
You can pick ONE area to work out, customize your workout, OR work the GROUP of a certain area-like Upper body lower body. it will group the workouts to target that area. I usually to the GROUP (so a whopping 25 minute workout) and alternate what parts I work each day.
The downfall-she talks in tune with the music and its a little weird at first! LOL! The first time I did this work I laughed more than I worked out because of the way she spoke through it. Basically its a current version of a workout vid-you’d expect to see in the 1980’s. If you get it you will see what I mean.
I can tell you, its worth every penny. Especially her ab workout and waist cincher! LOVE it!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OK now Im really going! I hope if you set some goals for yourself you are working on them DAILY! Its like AA. You need to work on it daily, one day at a time! LOL! Avoiding each temptation as it comes. Choose better snack foods and keep yourself “full” so you don’t BINGE!
On a quick side note…anyone else’s kids KILLING eachother these days? Or is it just mine?
If I didn’t chop my hair off I’d have surely pulled it all out by now. Where is SPRING?!!
OK, really going now.
Until tomorrow…….

Beautiful card Lauren. LOVING the monochromatic color scheme.
The candy bar situation is messed up! Do you know that I actually saw a girl scout cookie stand RIGHT in front of a Weight Watchers the other day?! Life is cruel!
Lauren, you’re beautiful–would be even if BALD! Cadbury Creme eggs are my fave too. Keep up the good work ignoring the chocolate! (I have GS cookies staring at me all day!) And with the kids killing each other–I think it’s the change of seasons–cabin fever, spring fever, what ever you want to call it. Have a great weekend!

haha, you are so entertaining!!
First I wanted to 100% agree that you’re in a size 7??? YOU ROCK!!!!! I am two inches shorter and in decent shape and not that! Good for you!!!
Your card is very pretty too!
Really like this sketch but I wanna see the new “DO”……. 8″ was almost enough to donate to “Locks of Love”….. I can hear that candy calling out my name clear over in Sicily
Take the boxes of candy to your children’s school and put them in the teacher’s lounge. They’ll go fast!!!
Hope that helps!
Winthrop
Don’t know if this will help however there is a rumor out there that those candy bars have big green tomato worm eggs in them and when you eat them they puff up inside you like marshmallows entering all your nooks and crannies to smooth out your flesh so that there are NO wrinkles anywhere. Now paint that picture. lol
WIth all this working out talk I want to get off of my butt, however Im so out of shape, heck I pulled a muscle yesterday playing the Wii with Tyler. Bowling of all things. I can barrely walk today. I think an actual work out would probably kill me! LOL!
Super cute card. Love the sketch too. Have to try it. Have a great weekend, this sunshine feels amazing. -Molly B
LOVE the card, AND the sketch! So fun - I may have to try another, too! And WAY TO GO on 62lbs! That’s awesome!!
You crack me up!! I just wanted to say that my kids were going thru massive “cabin fever”! They couldn’t be in the same room with each other for more than 2 minutes without an ‘incident’! Yesterday we had a day off school and it was over 70 degrees, so they finally got out and they ran all day! I mean ALL day. They fell asleep by 7:30 and now today it’s like a love fest around here! Here’s wishing you the same resolution!!!
Oh, and I love your blog!!
Lauren, not only do you inspire but you make me giggle.
You go girl!
Good luck with all that candy around!! (BTW ~ Cadbury mini eggs are the only chocolate I like (Love) and I found them at Christmas!! In red and green!!
Anyway beautiful card and keep smiling!
:)Kathy
My kids are at each others throats lately too, spring can’t come quick enough. I feel your candy bar pain, I too have boxes of Hershey’s Milk Chocolate and Almond chocolate bars my son is selling for playschool. I’ve had one, and that is all. You are so awesome for sticking to your plan. I hope my plan gets pulled together better in the next couple of days cause right now I am lacking in MOTIVATION big time. Thanks for the inspiration!!
You didn’t have to take the candy bars! They only want your money, they don’t care if you take the candy or not. I paid for them and didn’t take the candy. Dishing out the $50 and not taking the candy was worth it to me - I would have eaten them all myself (or my kids would have eaten them)!
Total gorgeousness on the card! But I’m more impressed with the 62lbs! You may have inspired me to get moving! Fantastic sketch too, can’t wait to give it a try!
Lauren I bet your hair looks adorable. Just think of the time you will save washing and drying!
Have you tried the Crunch pilates videos? They have one that is 3 ten-minute segments and you can do all of them or one of them, plus Ellen is an awesome instructor. My local library has them, maybe yours does, too. Keep up the good work and don’t let the candy bars win!
And yes, my “kids” are crazy–except by “kids” I mean my high school students that I teach. Spring weather started here on Thursday and we’ve already had two girl fights at school. Can’t wait until Spring Break!
Lauren-
You are too funny!
I love reading your blog (I am so addicted to blogging!) You blog like most people talk and I love how personal you are!
Thanks so much for not only sharing your wonderful talent, but also your life!
When I rad about your life..I don’t think mibe is so hectic anymore and this just keeps me going sometimes!
Can’t wait to se your hair!
I am sure it is beautiful!
Hugs-
Kathy
WHERE is the pic of your new do??!!! I NEED to see how pretty you look!!! I bet it’s fab and healthy looking!
Loved the sketch this week and I totally loved how my cards came out…lol…tooting my own horn…I don’t do that often but I really do like them
WTG on that weight loss girl! Amazing! I would like to lose 20 pounds and am starting it all on Monday….a regular routine day where I can start my exercising in the morning after everyone is gone and BEFORE I start stamping! I have commited to working out before stamping and won’t allow myself to craft til I’ve done it!
Have a great weekend!
so funny that you cut your hair, I have shoulder length hair and just recently decided I want to let it grow back out to about your previous length!
I have Denise Austin’s Yoga video and she is awesome.!
I dont’ have any little ones in the house, but i teach 1st grade so i am around 6-7 year olds all day and yeah they are ready for sping to come! I live in fl. but weve had a really cold winter so i guess they have not had a lot of outside play time and it is showing!!!
Holy Cow!!! You really lost that much? I honestly didn’t think you could lose that much weight without looking like a bean pole
I only have two and you look WAY better than I do. I just have a hard time with working out. I never had to before kids. I hope to get the Wii Fit someday. I am thinking that may help.
My boys are always trying to kill each other. Yes, spring better get here really quick.
Love the card. I haven’t done monochormatic before but I just love all the cards I have seen using that color scheme.
Great job as always!!!
I just wish I could hang out with you because you are just too funny and full of life and honesty! I have to read your posts more often to keep me motivated! TFS!
Your post was so inspirational today (and always!) what I would do to lose that much weight. I’m working on it but, gained abt 40 back after getting cocky when i lost all my baby weight when my third son turned two. Now, I’ve got a long way to go but, appreciate your tips and inspirational story, too.
Love your blog, Lauren! I can’t believe you’ve lost 62 lbs! I wouldn’t have thought you had that much to lose, but you’re tall. You’re very inspiring–on cards and on weightloss and on positive thinking in general.
Next time you get an itch to cut your hair, look into donating it to Locks of Love. For years now I’ve grown my hair long (waist), cut 14 or 16 inches, and grown it to cut it again. So far I’ve donated 16, 14, 14, and 12 inches. It goes to make free hairpieces to children who’ve lost their hair from alopecia or other illnesses–a cause close to your heart, I’m sure. Just google Locks of Love in Florida.
Oh my gosh, I think you will look just as fabulous as you did with 8 more inches of hair!!
Thanks for the fabulous inspiration, not only paper wise, but fitness wise as well!!
This card is just gorgeous. I really love how it came out. I’m going to have to try this sketch.
And, yes, for some unknown reason, this past week has seen the worst behavior for my 3 kids. They couldn’t get along if their life depended on it.
Thanks for the workout reviews. I did start using my Wii Fit this past month but need to get a handle on eating, too! Thanks for the inspiration!
Lauren, I love this card you’ve created for your sketch. The color is fantastic, and I love the layout!
You had one candy bar, so now you can get over it. You don’t need no stinking candy bar! LOL!
Lauren, Just wanted to let you know I love your blog! I look forward to getting that update by e-mail and then I hurry over to check out what you have posted. You make me laugh, cry, and you certaily can motivate. You are a jewel! Keep up all the great ideas and by the way, the card is beautiful! ( So, when will we get a pic of the new do?)
Wonderful on the wt. loss and take the candy to the fire station or police dept…they will eat just about anything=)
Lauren, I so hear you on the candy problem. Ice skating was the same way with the fund raising. It sounds like you are doing a fabulous job of dealing with the temptation. Good luck getting it out of your house. Oh, and I love your card. The colors and the way you combined the stamp sets is gorgeous!
Amazing creation! Isn’t this sports thing nuts? We have our youngest going into “majors” baseball (he’s 12) and it’s costing $115 JUST to sign up…then they are required (also) to sell a box of 50 candy bars…or you can “BUY OUT” and just pay an extra $30. We’re also REQUIRED to volunteer some time in the concession stand or we can “BUY OUT” and just pay an extra $20. Hmmmmmm. What is wrong with this picture?!?!!!!! So frustrating.
Lauren - Congratulations - 62 lbs!!!! Way to go. You are an inspiration. Thank you.
I can’t wait to see your hair cut. Did you donate your hair? I guess you can only do that if you tie it in a ponytail and cut it off all at once. My daughter did that last year just before she started her treatment. She missed it but her hair was not as long as yours was. SHe donated it to Pantene - they did a campaign - beautiful lengths it was called I believe. The make wigs for women with cancer.
We were very proud of her.
Anyhoot - You card is gorgeous and you are a sweetie!
Hugs
Annette
I enjoy reading your stories. Great job on losing weight and working out. I love your card and another ribbon place to feed my addiction.
great card! I’m happy to see Mr Linky here too! And great job on the working out! Thats awesome. I’m still working on it!
Lauren,
Your card is beautiful!! I’m sure your hair looks beautiful too. I can relate to those candy bars also. My son had gone to a school that as their back to school fund raiser they would have to sell candy bars. 125 of them! Every year we would buy all 125 so that I did not have the stress of selling them plus I did not want him going door to door at 5 years old. It was very difficult to ignore them when they would be calling my name. Keep up the great work!
Hi Lauren!
I have long blonde hair too, and I think losing 8″ is actually a GREAT idea! I’m so FAR from trendy, but it’s much fresher. I bet you look ADORABLE, even if it’s weird to you
I like to keep my hair at “the bra line”
Lotsa love to you!
What a great post…I am so wanting a chocolate bar now! Beautiful card…really beautiful.
Hugs
Heather
That is a really beautiful card, absolutely gorgeous. And so are you, you silly girl. Isn’t it amazing how one day, one week we can be so in control and another day that seems like it should be just like all the others turns out to torment us and we let the devil win. Grrrrrrrrrr, we all need to gang up on the devil and show him whose the real boss. You have so much to be proud of. You have done a marvelous job with setting goals and reaching them. Keep it up!!!
Congrats on the weight loss!! You go girl!! You’re going to have to be running away from Jay with that hot little bod of yours LOL
Don’t worry about the hair - it grows back. I think if you cut off 8″ you can donate it to the Locks of Love for wigs for cancer patients.
Great monochromatic card too!
Lauren,
I’ve been working out like crazy since Jan.1. I’ve lost 13 lbs. and while I’m proud of my loss, I just have to know how long it has taken you to lose it all. I know that 13 lbs. is good but I’m one of those who likes to loose it NOW!! So my question is, when did you start with your workouts? Thanks.
Kasie Hamman
Hey Lauren - love your work and congrats on the weight loss - that’s INCREDIBL! I feel for you about the candy bars. Our baseball league doesn’t do that (but we have other fundraising that is similar…sigh.) Anyhow, I have an idea that might work for you….What about “selling the bars” on the net BUT instead of the people actually getting the bars, YOU INSTEAD send them to the soldiers in IRAQ? I know this has been a HUGE success for some of the girlscouts around here that have done it for their cookies. The parents sell the items on the blog, but what the purchaser is actually doing is paying for the candy to be sent elsewear
That way the purchaser has done a good deed (and doesn’t get unecessary calories and you don’t have to buy them NOR eat them and you simply mail them and/or donate them.
can’t wait to see the new do - i am sure it looks awesome
congrats on the 60+ pounds - way to go!
love the tone on tone look - superb!
That T-ball thing is RIDICULOUS!!! What are they raising money for ? I get that running a team costs, but if you are already paying subscriptions for your kids ….? Hmmmm, maybe it’s a cross-Atlantic thing … (incidentally, Cadbury Creme Eggs? Been on sale here since Christmas. Literally. And the mini creme egg version too. They could be eaten one at a time and have virtually no impact on that FABULOUS figure of yours. So… if you wanna talk trading templates for authentic, real-deal, UK Cadburys creme eggs…. let’s just say I’d be open to discussion…..!!!!!)
I think you’ve done great to lose 62 pounds AND keep it off. It isn’t easy to resist chocolate! I would really like to see all these groups stop pushing kids to sell stuff to raise money. I know they need money, but I hated having to deal with my kids having to sell things and I didn’t appreciate hordes of kids coming to my house and being expected to buy. This has gotten way out of hand! Hope I helped your rant! :0)
Lauren, I love how chatty, welcoming, and inspiring your posts are!! I can relate to the hair…….last June I was desparate for a haircut and so I handed DH the scissors (yes, I gave them to him!) and asked him to cut my hair to the middle of my back (it was at my waist when wet). Well, by the time he was done cutting, it was up to my chin!!!! I’ll bet its really cute and at least you didn’t cut it all the way up! :>:> I did your sketch for the first time today and had a lot of fun! I LOVE LOVE your card and would have not thought to put those two colors together…they look fab! Great ribbon too! :>
I can’t wait to see your hair! I got mine all cut off too and even straightened (I have very naturally curly hair.). I was the talk of the week at work with my high schoolers. I just wanted to tell you that I love your monochromatic card. I’m afraid of them, I think lol. I can have the intent to make one but then another color sneaks in :). Want to challenge us one Saturday to create a monochromatic card with the sketch? I wanted to get on and look at your card yesterday but was sick on the couch.
Lauren,
Thanks for the pep talk. I have been workout lazy. My downfall this time of year is Jelly Beans. I may have to get that video you were talking about. Have you tried 30 day Shred from Julian Michaels (Biggest Loser). AWESOME. You might like this too. Also the Biggest Loser Cardio and Power Sculpt are great too. All are around 15 at Target.
Hi Lauren,
Most people don’t believe my 4yr and 18 mo old grandaughters are not mine. That is all the inspiration I need when sugar calls my name! Just wondering I looked at the skinny b video link and it seems like a good one but it doesn’t say have the long the workout lasts. If you could let me know I would appreciate. Thanks for all you do. Mary
Thanks for all the inspiration both in words and videos. I too lost over 50 lbs more than 5 years ago and have kept it off with working out daily at 6 am
I’m sitting here laughing at the memory of doing Denise Austin workouts as a teenager. gotta love that mute button, LOL!
Loved this weeks sketch! Thanks for the challenge!
If you think Denise Austen is old – I worked out to Jane Fonda’s video – complete with leotard, tights and legwarmers! I don’t have a weight problem (tgf good genes) but I do wish my body was as toned and tight as it was then. But now I’m wondering how much damage my joints suffered from all those high impact aerobics! Owch!
Chocolate – yummm! I love Take 5 candy bars too, and I LOVE dark chocolate anything. My DH gave me Russell Stover dark chocolate covered chocolate marshmallow snowmen at Christmas, then the same candy shaped like hearts for Valentines. I really hope I get bunnies for Easter!
They are absolutely sinful.
I’m feeling your pain regarding the hair chop. I had long red curls that reached a few inches below my shoulders. I got this wild idea to crop it off and flat iron it. Now it’s a little longer than chin length when it’s straight. I loved it for a while and everyone else still loves it. But now I’m missing my long curls and with the hot summer coming I really hate that I can’t just pull my hair back in a pony tail or twist it up off my neck. Oh well, after all it is just HAIR and it will grow back.
Love the card - as I do all of your creations - and I’m really excited to see your new templates.
Aw Lauren, you’re the best! And the card is BEE-YOU-TEA-FUL!
GIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIRL!!! I got Skinny B**** bootcamp and it’s AMAZING! I’ve done it for five weeks- and tho I haven’t dropped lbs as quickly as I’ve liked- I dropped two inches already- those girls are FUN! Anyways- good luck with it- it’s fun- and your card is amazing. But darling- TAKE A BREAK
lol- I love your stuff and can’t wait to see the templates, but don’t overdo it
Take care and have a great day! AND thanks for the info on the cause.

Hi Lauren! I am one of your lurkers!
I visit your blog daily but usually don’t have the time to comment but I did get to participate in your sketch this week and I’m so excited because this is my first one!! Thank you SO much for all the inspiration!
Congrats on the weight loss! I really like this week’s sketch. Here’s my version: http://inkingaloud.blogspot.com/2009/03/skys-limit.html
