Well it is no secret that I started my passion for “crafting” with quilting.
I loved purchasing and mixing the patterns of fabric so much more than the sewing part! LOL! That was my first sign that maybe being a quilter wasn’t for me. The second sign was me staying up ALL hours of the night trying to finish a quilt in a day! LOL!! I needed that instant gratification. I didn’t enjoy the quilting at all-just the end result. Boy am I thankful I found a craft I enjoy start to finish-with my instant joy attached.
Anyway-lots of people sew to some degree. When you are crafty you generally surround yourself with crafty people. Well I made this Sew n Go tote just for that crafty person in your life who loves to sew! It would be a fabulous gift for the beginner sewer in your life too!
Using Take Along Tote: Another My Timeless Template idea peek
Sew n Go! Patchwork of love
How cute is that?
I just think of how great this little package could be for a newbie sewer! I know I would have done a happy dance if this was given to me! Especially when I was a girl, and would sew during the summer at my grandmothers. To have my OWN supplies would have been over the top.
Now in the front pocket- I used a round nestability to cut out a portion of the pocket (prior to adhering it to the pattern base) to give you a different look, and more visibility at what is inside
I took a travel sewing kit I got at the Target $1 spot some time ago, and repackaged it in a gift card tin I got at Michaels. Also a $1. I used the plastic insert that would normally be for a gift card, and flipped it upside down to fit all my ribbon spools etc in, and encapsulated it in the tin.
Fits in the pocket perfectly.
I used quilters sampler/sent. for my design and sentiment. My colors were inspired by my fabric selection. I had fun coloring the quilt blocks to match 😀
Side view
I held this tote closed with large eyelets and some cranberry crisp ribbon.
Inside there are 4 yards of fabric!
Folded nicely, and secured in place with a stamped band.
Don’t you love the colors?
Wouldn’t this make a nice gift!! I love it.
Be back soon with more peeks

you are so clever!!
This is SEW cute! Sorry. I couldn’t resist. 🙂 I LOVE your ideas & both templates are fantastic!
This is so wonderful. I love it! And those are the same reasons I got into and out of Quilting. I would much rather papercraft!
How wonderful is this sweet tote! I just love all of your templates Lauren. They are so much fun to use.
This is WAY too cute! I love it! Your work is just beautiful! Thanks for the inspiration!
This Sewing Kit of yours is astonishing and so perfect!
Our 12 yr. old Godson asked me on Sunday, if I had any scrap material, a needle & thread, along with some scissors. I was confused by his request, but he quickly responded that he had Social Studies at school, and this Term everyone had to learn how to sew by hand =) How cool is that?!
Guess I’ll just have to add another Lauren Meader original to my **TO DO** List :o)
This is SEW Perfect!!! My Mom is a quilter also. I quite often give her the “Fat Quarters” (pre-cut fabric squares), as gifts. They always have them put together for you, as samples of a new “Line” of fabric that has come out. Anyway I usually just tie a beautiful ribbon around them. Now you’ve created the Perfect Package for me!!! Thanks so Much.
I have a quilting friend and I think she would adore this!!! Heck, even if she wasn’t thrilled with my selection (which she could make work anyways…’cause she’s that talented…kuddos to her), I am absolutely positive that she would LOVE this presentation!!! What another cute idea!
This is really SUPER CUTE!! I just bought a sewing machine and will be taking a sewing class soon and this might be the perfect teacher gift! Love it! All of your templates are wonderful. Thanks!
It just doesn’t stop with you, does it? The great ideas keep coming and coming!
Love it – absolutely love it! ♥
Hugs,
Renee
PS. Stay warm!
Hello Lauren, I am so talented in sewing like an elefant in ice skating, but this gift pocket is really great. For me personally I think it would not change my sewing capability at all *lol* but I know many people who would love to get this. Very very nice idea and well done – as always! 🙂
Regards
Corinna
What an absolutely fabulous idea. It makes a wonderful present to receive as well as the enjoyment you’d get making it as a gift. I’ll certainly be having a go at making something along these lines for a friend of mine who has just taken up knitting. Thank you for sharing the idea ( it’s spread all the way to the UK….lol)
Love n hugs

This is the perfect idea for my mother. She is a huge quilter and I am a stamper. I bought the set so I could make her christmas gift. I love it.

Oh is this ever the cutest! Great idea with the packaging, love the scissors as an embellishment!
OH MY GOSH!!! This is darling and so clever! My DD (8) would love something like this. She’s really into sewing right now. Great idea to turn that template inside out!
Holy Moly, Lauren! I am absolutely speechless!! I’ve just finished reading about all of your creations for this PTI release as well as the Pink Cat Studios release . . . girl, your brain must HURT!! Each and every design and creation is breath-taking and ingenious!! If I could have just a thimble full of the creativity that you have in your little pinkie, I’d be a very happy girl. Thank you so much for sharing all of these wonderful projects. I hope you get back what you give . . . it truly is immeasurable. Have a great day today, Lauren!!
This is fabulous! I love your gift ideas!
One of my all time favorites!!!! So clever! And I love fabric too…but I dont sew….thats a bigger dysfunction…LOL
So Darling! What a fun gift for a friend that sews!!! you are so inspirational! Thank you!!
This is fantastic Lauren. I know several quilters who would love this! I also remember learning to embroider from an aunt when I was about 9 years old and I loved it when I received my very own sewing basket to hold all my thread and needles. I still have it!
I am a blog “stalker” I love to look but never participate or leave comments, HOWEVER, I had to finally leave a comment for you because I think you are amazing. Every single thing you do is amazing. I always think there is no way you can top your last project and yet you always seem to do it. Thanks for the inspiration.
I too started out as a sewer(not a quilter). I always say “what a shame it is to spend so much time cutting up fabric just to sew it back together again”. I have an embroidery machine and do combine lots of stamping and sewing, this is a great project.
Now I know I have to get this template. I love this idea! You can do so much with this template. Thanks again for sharing your love of paper crafting with the world. You are an inspiration to us all.

One of the neatest ideas yet…thanks!
How cool! I just returned home from Idaho and I purchased the entire quilter set of stamps and am dying to have a play with them.
Love what you’ve done, ‘sew’ creative and has really inspired me to try making one myself.

This is precious, Lauren! What a wonderful gift! The colors are amazing…thanks for sharing the idea!
