OH my word is this ever LATE! We are a month and a half past this party, and I am just now posting this! AND Im only posting it since I want to post Noah’s birthday Smilebox, and I will feel extremely guilty if I do that one before this one! YIKES! Oh motherhood. Gotta love the daily dose of guilt. Weather its because you yelled at them for the 60th time to not yell at their sibling (I know it makes no sense but I know “I” do it! Not good), or had to take something they love away because they didn’t listen, then YOU feel bad………ugh! This is the stuff they don’t put in books, and most of the books that are written for parenting, I believe is by the CHILDLESS! Its so much easier to say WHAT you should and shouldn’t do when you don’t have them! LOL! Before I was a mom I always said ” I will never do X.” 9 Years and 3 kids later………..here I am, often doing X.
I am now going to run and edit the photos so Amber & Alexa can make their TY notes. See, really late on those too. I still have TY’s to get done from a gift Alexa got from my PSF’s in MAY! See people I really don’t get it all done! I do procrastinate :C Boy do we have a bunch of TO DO’s for afternoon craft time this week.
Now Im in utter panic! These are ALL so late :C
Not good. Why did I even begin this task today? I guess to get it done.
Anyway details of Amber’s 4th birthday party, if you weren’t around then.
We had her party at Empire Beauty School. Each girl got nails painted, hair & make-up done! They had a blast.
In the photos you will see Amber held up her nails ALL day, because they told her to make sure they didn’t get ruined while being wet. I don’t think she hardly put them down. As for the make-up she was like a PRO!
All I could think the ENTIRE party was looking back on this day, the day she gets married! Time will just fly by. That is what that whole thing felt like to me. How am I suppose to entrust MY BABY to some guy someday?! I know crazy. She may decide to NOT ever get married, but still we all think it. Then I think she better get married, I want grandchildren! What if she doesn’t want children?! What then?! Crazy. I often get ahead of myself.
I just told myself-enjoy this time while she is little because before you know it she will be in the world, all grown up. I get weepy just THINKING about it. I know it sounds CRAZY since she is ONLY 4 but seeing my oldest- Alexa be 9 is a killer! Where has the time gone? Seems like just yesterday SHE was 4. You have no idea how fast it goes past us. I realized how quickly during Alexa’s 2 1/2 years of chemo, thankfully it went by in a flash.
I think because Amber is my “baby” and like my little sidekick, its a real killer for me to see her grow so fast. Being the 3rd child she seems to advance so much quicker. Much more independent and “old” for her age. Im sure our life circumstances only pushed that even more so.
I dont say that because I love her more or less than the other 2. I think anyone who has more than 1 child knows you develop different relationships with each child. You love them the same, but each one has that special something that the others don’t. Thats what makes THAT person as special as they are. OK I hope that makes sense to you like it does to me, and if it doesn’t thats OK. Im just blabbering on about my thoughts
Time to get going on those TY’s.
I have Noah’s Smilebox and stuff to do, as well as LOTS of eye candy. Having said that, I have 500 photos to go through and edit to get to that point so stay tuned.
OH gosh, now I really wish I didn’t think about it all.

What a fun party! OMW - they look so grown up and so pretty.
OMG! Amber and Alexa’s hair looks sooooo goood!!! I really love the the purple/red in Alexa’s hair!! YOu have the two most beautiful daughters!!
I have 4 kids-20,18,15 and 13. You put it so well when you said that we have different relationships and each child has that special something. The 20 years flew for me and I do wish I could go back for a little while to when they were little. We usually spend that time she getting by and wishing it away. You are so smart to be relishing it NOW. I love your blog for its creativity but also for your heart to hearts! Thank you!
OMW - I want a party like that! That is one GORGEOUS group of girls. Amber is such a little princess. I would just love to play dress up with her all day! Alexa has the cutest expressions. I think she and I would be great friends! You are an amazing mom to your kids and WOW, great b-day parties!!! Will you plan my next b-day party? hehe
That looks like a fun party. Amber’s so pretty as the queen of the party and Alexa’s highlights are rockin!
Good luck getting it all done. If the stuff doesn’t get done, remind yourself it’s just ’stuff’
Hello Lauren,
As I sit here with tears rolling down my cheeks, I feel compelled to send you a note.
I have 3 grown children 29,34&38. Yes the time does go by so quickly. That’s why I always tell new parents to enjoy every moment. Tracy Atkins has a new song that touches my heart so about a daughter that is always wanting to be in the next step of her life and he keeps telling her “someday you will miss this”.
I have one granddaughter and I love her more than I thought anyone could love another person. I can think of her and tears come to my eyes because when I am not with her, a part of my heart is gone.
Thank you for the wonderful blog entry today. Don’t feel guilty, just do want you can and know that is enough.
I suggest everyone to read this entry outloud to themselves.
Tears are still coming down.
Hugs from a Grandma Mary
Your pictures are adorable. It looks like the little ladies had a great time.
Thanks for sharing pictures of Amber’s girly girly party. They are all so cute! I marvel at all you are able to accomplish. Do you ever sleep?!?
Amber looks ready for a beauty pageant!

And I can’t wait for Alexa to ask you to make her pink highlights for real!
One word: BREATHTAKING! Thanks for sharing.
Lauren, that was totally awesome. Those girls are all so darn cute. That party is going to be tough to ever top, lol. They are going to remember that day forever and always look back with a happy memory. I was so emotional just watching it. Wow, what a wonderful job you are doing and great subjects to do it with. Can you tell I just want to keep gushing.
Awe!!! Lauren - I absolutely adore the pictures of Alexa and Amber together…esp the one of Amber looking up at Alexa…their hair came out so cute - lovin’ the pink streaks…did she want to keep them??
Looks like a fun time was had by all - enjoy those beautiful girls…
I get ahead of myself too - and think those same thoughts…and I hope that they won’t move too far away, either…

You are BLESSED!
Beautiful girls. Love the pinkish stuff in their hair. Hope Amber doesn’t expect you to braid like that every morning..So girly!! They all look like they had a blast!!
They look like little divas…so cute!! Looks like a lot of fun!!
It looks like she had a wonderful birthday, just loved the way they did her hair that is just too cute! I was blessed with just one child, so I don’t know what it is like bringing up more than that, but I did watch my mother have a different relationship with each of us kids, and she had 6!
Oh Lauren how fun!!!! Your girls look gorgeous and what great memories for them to look back on. What a fun party all the girls look like they enjoyed it. You are doing an awesome job capturing their lifes greates moments now matter how long you think it takes. Keep up the great job and TFS your most precious gifts… your children.

awe! Those pictures are great!! Looks like so much fun! I think I will look into that for my daughters birthday one year. TFS! ~Heidi
That looks like a ultra fun party. Great idea!
Have you ever read the book “I Was A Good Mom Before I Had Kids”? It’ a great book! It totally helped me let go of a lot of my mommy guilt. It is written by two moms who got tired of feeling guilty because of not living up to the myth that so many think motherhood is.
Lauren the girls look they all had a wonderful time and you can tell all that attention made them all feel so very special. I laughed when I saw Amber with her hands in the air and fingers spread so as not to damage her nail polish. Amber is all girly girl and so like her mom. Alexa’s hair is growing I cried when I saw the picture of her hair before the chemo, but I guess hair loss is a small price to pay to be well. You are so lucky to have girls to share with. Ann Lind
I totally know what you mean about loving all your kids the same, yet different. I have 3 kiddos too. I love my kids, but the relationships I have with each of them is so different. I was just realizing this morning how much they are all growing up! I’m in the middle of it all, but I feel like I’m missing it sometimes. I just gotta not take anything for granted, right? Good luck with getting your to do list done. I have a long one myself and should be exercising instead of blog surfing!
Such great photos. I love the whole idea of it. I don’t have a girl (yet anyway, still crossing my fingers). But I know I would probably want to do something like this. I would be thinking the same thing as you. My oldest just turned 5 yesterday and I was thinking the same thing. He is so grown up to me now. And he better find a girl that I like hehehe and he better have kids because I want lots of grandchildren. We do go ahead of ourselves but then wish the days would slow down.
Also, I completely understand the whole not favoring but more “compatible” with one child. I have two boys and I see that I can handle my oldest better than the younger. Maybe because he is favored by others so I try to make up for it with my oldest, who knows. Parenthood is so hard. I wish I knew more before I had them, but who thinks they knew everything they need to before having kids?
Thanks for sharing, Lauren. Your girls are adorable!
what a great idea 4 a girl party i luv it ! how did you come up w/this?
What a beautiful up-do for a beautiful little girl (who looks just like her Daddy)! Loved the red highlights in Alexa’s hair too. All the girls looked like they had a great time. I’m so glad I have boys.
What an amazing birthday party that must of been. The girls all looked like they were having a blast! Your daughters are beautiful. What a great memory.
Yyou always have the best parties! I’ll bet everyone always wants to go to them too! All the girls were so cute, and some of those pictures were just hilarious - Amber holding her hands up - and the best ones were the ones where the girls were all done and had big smiles on their faces! What a great party!! Your kids will always remember times like those.
What sweet pictures and sentiments. It looks like it was a great party! All the girls look like little princesses and so proud of their new hairdos.
Now that my two oldest are ’spreading their wings’ - I’m finding it real hard to ‘let go’ at times. I know that this is how it’s suppose to be but it’s still pulls at the heartstrings, ya know? It’s all good though - just another chapter.
Thanks for sharing these adorable pictures!
hugs!
What a cute idea and such a nice thing for you to do for your kids. I wanted to let you know how much I enjoy your blog, I’m new to your blog but I can’t help but admire how creative you are. In fact, I nominated you for the Kreativ Blogger Award. Please don’t feel like you have to play along. When choosing my nominees, I felt I had to focus on the word Creative, and your work is some of the most creative I have ever seen. You can read more about it on my blog http://amyscreativepursuits.blogspot.com/ if your interested.
