Day Dreamin-Unity Peek

Jun 25, 2008 Author: mytime | Filed under: Cards

Wednesday! 1/2 way through the week!!

Well I did go back to the town pool yesterday. That guy was gone (I think he was part of the crabby party). We were there for 2 hours!  It began to thunder so they had everyone leave. The kids were sad-but the 2 hours was plenty long for me. It was great. I may just end up living there this summer since it is like 1 minute from my house. I have lived here 6 years and never went! I was bored out of my mind though! LOL!

Its not a “pool” but more like a lake/pond sort of thing. Its just called a pool. Its nice and small and I can see the 4 kids NO PROBLEM! There are bathrooms right there, and they have a bin of water/sand toys.

So a good thing to do with the kids that doesn’t take a lot of gas $$!!!

Tomorrow we are going with my friend and her daughter to the Disovery Place in Londonderry. Amber had a field trip there months ago and it was great!

Now onto the details of today-

Now normally Unity only provides you TINY peeks, until the party-but because Angela is sponsoring this blog candy we want you to see what you are commenting for! I have been able to provide full on views 😀

OK we have the LAST day of peeks for Unity today! Check out ALL the DT blogs-WOW! The release party is tonight 😀

I hope to see you—->HERE<— later-8p-10p CST (9p-11p EST)

Discounts, Prizes, and 11 NEW RELEASES!!

If you haven’t already, enter to win one of 2 Unity Sets HERE! I will be giving away Eco Chic and Tiny Trinity!!! Also Jimmi and Patter have a give away too.

Be sure to check the BLOG too.

Now for my card 😀

unity-tree.jpg ECO CHIC SAMPLE

This card uses a tree/branch image from the new Eco Chic. The sentiment is from Gratitude = Joy. Yes I am on a button kick these days! I have no idea WHY I just am! I got the ribbon at Michaels dollar spot-and just love the pink in it-that pops out. That is what I based my tree on. I added the little black dots with my sakura black gel pen.

Too fun.

Well that is it FOR NOW!!

I will return later for the Papertrey Blog Hop 😀 Details–>Here

The challenge uses acetate-one of my favorite things IN THE WORLD!!! I am having a Clearly Creative class this weekend at The Paper Tree using techniques with just acetate! FUN STUFF!!!

So I am doing a tutorial on the Art Glitter here!! YEAH! I know so many asked about it, and we aren’t using it in my class. (SHOCKING I KNOW! My 2 faves glitter and acetate! LOL!) So check back 5pm EST!

Then I hope to see you at the Unity party.

Lets not forget ONE MORE place for blog candy-

Thanks for checking in here!!

Unity Peek #2 and a home made baby gift!

Jun 24, 2008 Author: mytime | Filed under: Cards, Home decor/3-D items

How is your week going so far?

I am late in posting because I gathered up the kids (and the neighbors daughter) to go to the town pool to start the day. They are already getting antsy being home . You know how hard it is to round up 4 kids-sunscreen-drinks-fruit-snacks-towels-change of clothes-first aid kit and sand toys-just to be out of the house by 10am?

Well I did it. We are due for big thunderstorm this afternoon, and I wanted to let the kids ahve fun before that. Well, I get there and the guy at the gate says its being reserved till 12:30 for the senior citizens and they don’t want a bunch of crazy kids splashing all over them, so come back later.

I then pleaded with him to let us at least use the playground, and it was going to rain all afternoon. He said “Too bad sweetheart I’m not the weather man. I don’t care if it rains all day. Not my problem. Come back later.”

NICE!!! My blood was boiling because I didn’t warrant this attitude. He’s lucky I had  little ears with me! LOL!

Anyway……now for some more eye candy for the 2 Unity set giveaways!!

ENTER UNITY GIVEAWAY HERE!!

The Unity Release Party is tomorrow night!! Wednesday June 25th at 8 pm CST (9pm EST). Check out the party forum here.

Check Angela’s blog , for a special DT member feature on Natalie.

Now 2 more new peek samples 😀 using my 2 give away sets

ECO CHIC

choice-unity-sunflower.jpg

Now I took the same funky set, and used an image, and made it look a little more elegant 😀 Gotta love versatility!!! The Chatterbox paper really helped me achieve that look, as did the scalloped square.

Tiny Trinity

tiny-trinity-tree.jpg

This card also used a sentiment from the Thanks to you set.

I just stamped this tree onto patterned paper-colored in the trunk, then cut out. Its a cute and easy image to do this with.

I made it an “apple” tree by using the clear Bella Dots, and coloring them with a Sharpie marker, and adhered with mono-multi glue (in love with that stuff).

My creative memories wavy cutter made my hills.

Now I am so bouncing up & down over this next project!!

Jasons BEST friend just had his very first baby yesterday! A little girl. When I got the call she was in labor I began frantically thinking of what would we would present the baby with at the hospital.

I have an idea for a gift but am saving that one for her home coming party in a month. Its a bit more involved.

I was going to buy a frame and have it engraved with her info. Well wouldn’t you know I could not find one for the life of me that I liked! Then while at Target I found a 3D frame for $6!!! It had an Angel clip and some script on the back. I took it aprat and created my own frame!

When thinking about the design I took into account that the mother is very earthy. She loved pink & brown (yeah!!!) and she originally registered for THIS set Crib set, and all the accessories that looked like THIS. She then said I think gender neutral is best, so she switched what she registered for,  since they hope to have more babies in the future.

SO that was my jumping point. I KNEW she loved that style.

Sweet Blush is the PERFECT soft pink!!!

Here is the Once Upon A Time frame

bliss-frame-front.jpg

This frame uses-The June Kit of the Month-Bliss & a Birdie (bird , once upon a time sentiment, and bliss sentiment),Beautiful Morning, Circle of Thanks.

I LOVE how the sentiment wraps around the corner of the photo. The photo supplied in there is actually my daughter Amber, right after she was born-when she grabbed Jason’s thumb, under the warmer. It is one of my most cherished photos.

I didn’t want to leave the frame plain so I put that in there. I used the Sepia choice for a brown tone when printing. I wanted Jenny to have an idea of what she could put in the frame, and have a template to cut from. The photo is barely stuck in there.

I stamped the branches, and colored them. I then added white liquid pearls, and punched vellum flowers (colored insides-added liquid pearls).

I stamped the Bliss sentiment onto the glass of the frame in white Stazon.

bliss-frame.jpg

I blurred out the baby name-but the baby name and info was printed off on my computer, then die cut out onto the tag. Around the tag is the circle image-hard to see in the photo.

The bird is stamped on the glass as well, in brown stazon. He looks just like he is itting on the branch!

bliss-frame-2.jpg

I did put the finished page into the frame before stamping my Bliss & Birdie onto the glass. I also kept StazOn remover close by! Luckily I got it perfect the first try.

I also added a fabric tag, and large button for some balance. Just fun little girly things.

I use SU! Wide chocolate satin ribbon to tie around the outside of the frame-for more of a nice boutique feel.

I hope she likes it. I put a lot of time and thought inot what looks like a very simple design. It is so important to have balance.

Then came the card. I had no idea what I was going to do-but then said Why re-invent the wheel? I already created a great template for the Onesie card!! So I made another.

This one a did a little different, by adding a skirt!

welcome-summer.jpg

The skirt is floated off the base a little at the bottom. I made the curvy trim with my Creative Memories wavy cutter.

I think its just adorable!

The dots are done using Polka Dot Basics

Thanks for looking. I’ll be back tomorrow with more to report. I hope this inspires you to create your own frame for your next baby gift! Get inspired from their registry!!

Here is a little inside info (hehehehe), she has created some of the sets to gear towards card-makers :D. Many of Angela’s sets are larger than the norm (which I love too), but this time she figured she may scale it down a bit……………SSSSSSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! That’s it! My lips are sealed. Here is Eco Chic sample #1

love-the-earth-unity.jpg

Not sure if you can see it-but the Earth had a large Making Memories page pebble on it. I had to go with the FLOWER CHILD funky feel for this. I have many “earthy” friends who this set reminds me of.

The large flower was done with a Giga Marvy punch that Lisa Johnson MADE me buy after seeing all her fab. stuff with it. It was perfect for this card.

Wait till you see some of the other peeks I have with this set-if I do say myself-they ROCK! LOL!

Now we have TINY TRINITY

retro-tree-unity.jpg

I am officially saying that this color combo ROCKS!!! Oh and you know me and my circles! I LOVE them.

I also love Unity 😀 Angela’s stiff is just so fresh and funky. I love that it gets me out of that box.

AND that this tree is AWESOME! I am so in love with trees and birds and butterflies, and all that kind of stuff these days. This set is so adorable-more peeks to follow.

Sometimes its the “Simple Things”

Jun 22, 2008 Author: mytime | Filed under: Cards

Texted Boxed Gift Wrap Set

 texted-boxed-set.jpg

I really believe that the simplest gifts, are the most amazing, elegant and beautiful. They also aren’t the easiest to achieve. I am all about the SIMPLE-WOW! You don’t need a bazillion layers to get a gorgeous gift. Now that is just my opinion. I love clean and simple.

When I create something I like to place it on my shelf, step back,  and ask myself “Would I buy you if I saw you in the store?” “Would this pop out at me?”.

Well with this set I made, I would have to say DEFINITELY!!! Mission accomplished.

Today I needed to create a simple gift for a Auction. My time is tight, and I wanted to create several various gifts for this and needed the cards to be clean, elegant, and simple. BUT not look like I threw it all together-KWIM? I also wanted them to appeal to be given to male or female recipients.

I was really inspired by my choice of Evening Terrace paper  by Martha Stewart, since it is just so elegant. It covers the bottom portion of my simple card wrap.

I decided to turn to a “nature” feel for the set. What better base to use than Kraft cardstock, with a touch of Vintage Cream. I then felt that the “oldie but goodie” set Texted Boxed would be perfect.

You can see that you really could take ANY one of the four cards, and create a fast and simple, but gorgeous gift for anyone. I am kicking myself for not having this planned for Teacher gifts!! GRRR!!! I wanted to use a variety.

This entire set (design time included since I had NO idea what I was doing ) was 25 minutes!! Now having already designed the sets, if I wanted to quickly make several it would be mush faster. These are just simple, single layers.

Simple Card Stationary Wrap

simple-card-wrap.jpg

This is the card wrap I created, to hold all 4 cards, and envelopes.

The “Thank You” sentiment is from Women of Life.

I love taking the rectangle leaf box image, and punching a portion of the leaf out with my 1 1/4 circle punch, then layering onto kraft or vanilla.

Little Leaf

little-leaf-text-boxed.jpg

For this card I combined Polka Dot Basics, with the label image from Limitless Labels.

You may not be able to see from the photo, but I used my Scor-Pal to score the lines in between the 2 borders. A nice and simple touch.

Simple Circles

simple-circles.jpg

I love the clean and simple look this has. Using the Borders & Corners Circle set really accentuates the circles here.

Thank You Leaf

thank-you-leaf.jpg

This is the simplest one and I just LOVE it. The little knot just adds so much to this clean card. This card was designed after the card under it.

I believe in you

texted-boxes-i-believe-in-you.jpg

This sentiment is from Mailbox Greetings. That set has the BEST group of sentiments! I just adore it.

So there you have it. Clean and simple.

Hope it inspired you to try a clean and simple gift set. Who can’t use card sets? Really anyone. Its the go-to gift idea when you have no idea what to get. It is also good to keep on hand for the times when you realize “Aunt Annie” is over and her birthday was last week, and you forgot. So you grab your little set and act like it was just waiting for her! LOL!

Well I gotta run. Its a beautiful day here, and the kids want to go to the park.

Have a super day. I have a Unity Peek for you later, with a giveaway!! Don’t miss that.

EDITING TO ADD: I used CTMH (Close to my heart) White Craft ink. I have to say it is the BEST I have ever used! And I have owned a LOT of white ink pads in my day.

magnolia-look-up-to-you.jpg Look up to you

How adorable is she? I love her. I stamped her first, then masked her and stamped the stairs. LOVE IT! I just sponged on some color. I have to say I love the colors this one has!

Colored with Copic’s of course 😀 I also colored the bridal confetti shimmery flowers. I loved using so many fun buttons on the bottom.

The sentiment is from Father Knows Best. I thought it was perfect for her.

Changes

Jun 19, 2008 Author: mytime | Filed under: About Me

You may have already seen Nichole’s post about the changes taking place at Papertrey Ink.

If you have not I suggest you read it, to be informed 😀

Changes are coming.

Many roles are changing. Lynn has been given a new duty within Papertrey, as has Jennifer. Details on Nichole’s blog.

We are welcoming 3 new, and amazing designers! Dawn McVey, Michelle Wooderson and Niki Estes. BIG WELCOME to them. They are perfect additions.

Taylor is saying goodbye. With that change I have been promoted to a Senior Designer! I am so excited about this new venture. This position offer’s possibilities that I have worked so hard for !! There is just SO MUCH talent out there, I am in awe to be where I am today. So grateful for every opportunity I have been graced with.

I cannot wait to start this new venture.

This is however bittersweet. I have to bid farewell to many of my design teams I am currently on, in order to fulfill my obligations. I guess we can’t really do it all. In the end I had to do what I needed to so I can fulfill my dreams.

I have notified those I have to say goodbye to. It was not easy, as I have had the privilege of working for the best of the best! Each and every company was full of the most wonderful and amazing people. I will miss being on their “team”, but it is not goodbye to their products!! We all know how much I love my stamps, and new goodies!!!

I want to thank each and every person I have worked for & with! I have learned and grown so much. I also want to thank Nichole, Jane, Julie & Rick- for believing in me :D, and my fellow PTI DT members who are truly so supportive.

I want to thank all of you who come and visit me here!! For the kind words and support. Now don’t worry! I am not dropping everything! LOL! You will still be able to come and see fresh new eye candy, and ideas galore 😀 All the same sort of things you have in the past-I just won’t be as crazy around release times.

I may even have more TIME! You know what that means…………….more stamping 😀

Change is so hard sometimes-but you can’t not go forward because you are afraid of what you can’t see, or don’t know. How can you grow and learn if you stay in one place? In what is familiar? What is worse than change, is regret. Regret that your didn’t do something. I know I don’t want to regret anything in life 😀 So I embrace these amazing changes and look forward to the road ahead.

Thank you again.

UNITY-a Challenge for you!!

Jun 19, 2008 Author: mytime | Filed under: Cards

Well it is Thursday. Only one more day of sanity till summer vacation! LOL!

Don’t get me wrong-I LOVE my children. But put all three in a house, 24/7, in the heat like caged animals and there will be CRAZINESS! I also have practically adopted a neighborhood girl, who is Alexa’s friend. So I actually have 4 kids. Now those of you who have 4 kids that are yours are saying “Well welcome to my life”. Trust me I know. Or should I say I can only imagine. Three is more than enough for me. If you have 3 or more than that you are a QUEEN of mother’s in my book. This girl is the last of 8 siblings, so lets just say I dont think her mom even notices she is gone all day/weekend. She basically cares for herself. She is the sweetest little thing ever too.

I try to go out and do stuff with them as much as possible in the summer, but it takes me forever to get out the door-especially if we go to the lake.

Alexa is going to Summer School, which is great. I never get out of the house before 10am anyway (OK so I really can but not in a good mood) anyway, so I should be ready to go when she gets in the door.

Now onto the fun stuff- I SO LOVE flowers, and flower sets. Funky and fun. You most likely already know that.

bloomin-love-unity.jpg Love in Bloom

I think of this as like the couple, whose love is blooming-and growing. Im lame. I know.

This paper by Scenic Route was a PERFECT match for my flower.

Part of the Random Special 3 (<—-click there for details) is the Best Friends set by Unity. I really LOVE this set, and the larger images. I love Unity because, to me, they are very different. They are also HOT & Trendy. I love that. Unity really gets me thinking outside my comfort zone. I really love a challenge, and pushing past my “comfort” zone. It is how I can grow as a crafter.

Once of my favorite things to do-if you can’t tell my some past stuff, is only stamp a portion of an image as my main focus. I have done this numerous times. I just LOVE the look it lends. WHY do wee need to have the entire thing so perfect in the middle all the time?

We dont! There are NO RULES! Only the one’s you put on yourself!

CHALLENGE:

So “I” am issuing a challenge for you today! Stamp only a PORTION of an image, and create something with it. Send us a link here so we can see what you come with.

Now also used in this card (lovey couple) is another set I really want to use more! I have a special thank you to get out to my friend (it is of course WAY late) and I NEED to use this set!! It is Fun Night Out. I just love it. I love the people images too.

Now the close up

100_7947.jpg EEK! Sorry for the BLUR!

I have been itching to use my Bella Dots EmBELLAshments! How can you not love them? I have some big plans for these yummies!! Again they were just perfect for my flower. I made a flower center, then used Mono-multi as my glue to stick them on. Clear glue dots would be perfect too.

Just so cute.

OK So get your buns out of that chair and get inking! I want to see your challenge cards!

I have some last minute stuff to finish up here and am STALKING my mailman for my new release goodies!

Tomorrow I have a peek at Storage Ink & More-and a giveaway! You will HAVE to come by for that!

If you haven’t entered their MOTHERLOAD of GIVEAWAYS! RUN!!!

Later-

Magnolia is HERE! And a reflection on life

Jun 18, 2008 Author: mytime | Filed under: Cards

Well I am SO late in posting. Sorry. I got some new stamps, and got caught up in creating yesterday. Totally NOT a bad thing!

Alexa had her Post-Cancer follow up today. That is why I am late. WOW! We were in & out of there in 15 minutes! It took longer to drive. It is becoming more & more real that this chapter is “over”. I get scared just saying it outloud. I have to have FAITH. That can be a hard thing to have sometimes. Especially when things aren’t going your way. Granted things are going so well, but  I have to continue to remind myself have faith that she will remain Cancer Free! I can’t tell you how extremely blessed I feel about that. I remember the day she got diagnosed like it was yesterday. It is as memorable as her birth. That day will never leave me. Nor will the last day of treatment.

I feel like a tornado just ripped through my house, and we are all still standing there in the middle, unharmed and in one piece. I know that may not make sense, but it is the ONLY way I can describe this feeling. Being at her first Post Cancer follow up really impacted me today. So much has happened since then. While we aren’t “un-touched” by the tornado, we are left standing, in one place, as thankful and stronger than ever. Forever changed by the experience, forever grateful we made it through the storm.

If we don’t weather the storm sometimes, how can we ever appreciate the rainbow?

I am reminded to be thankful for what I have, everyday. To go forward, and when things change, step forward in faith.

You may not believe this but I never intended on most of my “deep” reflective posts to ever go there. I often think of deleting them, but then say “No this is what I was/am thinking” so I leave it be.

Now the reason  came to post! LOL!

I am sure MOST of you out there have heard of Magnolia Stamps before-right?

Well if you haven’t then hold onto your wallets! Im about to share some news!

These are just the CUTEST images ever. If you LOVE to color, you will be in heaven. Since getting all the Copic Markers I LOVE coloring 😀 so these are just perfect.

The FIRST time I ever saw Magnolia stamps was onKimmie’s Blog. I love her work, and it is her stuff that made me fall in LOVE with them. I would always DROOL over her creations, but never ordered since they are a Sweden based company (and I am impatient).

If you are over 30, then you may know what I am talking about when I say these images remind me of Holly Hobby!!! I loved her, and seeing these takes me back to those happy childhood memories.

Well many of you know that I work with Scor-Pal. Diana asked me what I thought about her carrying Magnolia images. Well, I flipped! I told her when she got them in I wanted to order every single one! And I did!

many-magnolia.jpg All my new Magnolia stamps!

This should show you just how many images Diana is going to be carrying. I put them all on my mini Clip it up!PS I don’t know who else has one. I have heard some negative things about it, but I dont know why! Im in LOVE with mine! I got the mini and its really big! You can bet your bottom dollar that I ma so getting the larger one!!! If you have a lot of UN stamps this ROCKS!!!!

So here are the details from Diana

The MAGNOLIA-licious web site will not be online for several weeks but
we have inventory and are sending out product now. People can contact me
at
[email protected]. I will send them a catalog persay of all the
images we have. They copy and paste into a new document what stamps they
would like and send this to me. I then call them and we complete their
order. The Tilda and Edwin images are $12.00 and the others range from
$9.00 to $14.50 for the very large stamps like the “swing”. The stamps
are mailed from Blaine, WA for US customers and Surrey, Canada for
Canadian Customers. The prices are at par.”

Note: PLEASE dont ask me to help you decide on any! As you can see I had NO will power to decide for myself, and got them all! LOL!

Now I will give you what you really came here for! (I think! LOL!)

magnolia-making-me-smile.jpg Thanks for making me smile

This is my favorite of the trio. Maybe because its SIMPLE?

I so LOVED this little girl. She was the first one I inked up. I thought she was just the cutest thing. I had some paper, that reminded me of her skirt pattern, so the colors in that inspired her skirt.

This is a clean and simple layout. A great start for me, who is sometimes intimidated by others ROCKIN coloring abilities.

The focus stays on the girl, and the little details don’t take away from her. The sentiment is by Stampin Up!

How adorable is she? Oh and the BIRDS!! Love them!!!!

I wanted to use her, and I fell in LOVE with the fence image (no they are ot one stamp!). So I stamped the girl, then masked her, and stamped the fence. I am no “scene” maker but was quite proud of this one.

I cut her out with my nestabilties, and like always use the metal frame as a “mask” to sponge on my color. Too bad you cant see her glittery angel wings.

I swear I could live by this sentiment alone. This is from the revised Out On a Limb Sentiments

Now when coloring images, I like to choose my paper first. This is an older collection from Chatterbox. It is easier for me to color to match a paper, than to match a paper to my coloring. All my images are colored with my Copic markers.

Now this is a SIMPLE one

Magnolia has a plethora of non people images. I figured it would be fun to use JUST them.

I fell in love with the Tulips! They are my favorite flower. Then again, the birds. Kept it simple. Sentiment was PERFECT!! It is from the Birds of a Feather set.

I do have another CUTE card, but it will wait for my Saturday Sketch!!!

Come back tomorrow-I have more to share. Can you say Unity? YEAH!!!

Then I will have to show my All about the Bling class samples sometime this weekend. Blog candy here Friday!!

See you later! And thanks for always checking in. I appreciate those who have and haven’t been getting email updates for the heads up!!

I am emotionally drained and need to go chill out.
