I am exhausted! Who would think having 5 kids at the Farm would be so tiring. I had my three and watched 2 others. I have to say they behaved so well.
I had a couple of teary moments. Just thankful for my kids and all I have. Sometimes little things they do get me all choked up. Like the unsolicited I love yous or a kiss. Sometimes just a look. I see them, and know this time will pass so fast. It has already. I want to LIVE in each moment, each day and absorb these faces, hugs, kisses and memories forever. Memories are made of the moments we live today.
I figured you may like to see it. It was VERY windy and cold. I thought it was going to rain but it held off.
I am happy to report Alexa cleaned out last night, and it was ALL brown! YEAH! She had a fabulous day and looks great! It was a huge deal that she was able to walk through the entire park! In know that is normal to so many of you, but for us, Alexa normally can’t walk that much. We are a week past chemo and I did see a big difference in her endurance and energy levels. Plus for her to not complain of pain is a big deal too. Her chemo made her bones just ache. I never realized how much she complained/ached till it stopped. She was running and just so happy. I got my “normal” family day afterall!! Thankfully we don’t get many “pity” looks anymore since she walks better and her hair is getting fuller. Let me just tell you if you see a kid with cancer or any other problem, PLEASE don’t give that LOOK or STARE!! We see it, we just usually try to ignore it, and we know what you are thinking. I’m not saying that to be rude, just be aware if you do it. No one wants the “LOOK”. You may only get what I mean if YOU have gotten the “LOOK”. Just look at us, or them like anyone else. I hope that makes sense.
We came home and everyone took a nap-for about 3 hours!! All except Alexa, who stayed up to play Groovy Girls!
Thank you so very much for the prayers and support! I so believe it worked! I did use lot’s of bribery to get her to drink that stuff, and tomorrow I need to go buy the doll she saw in the store that talks and moves.
I do have creations to share but as you know I am drained! LOL! They have not been photographed at all. Hopefully tomorrow. Rest is necessary first! My hubby pointed out my spelling in my Alexa post for “Houston” we have take off, was spelled Huston. OH well! Im sorry but I was too stressed to be doing a great spell check!
Jason has tomorrow & Monday off! Vanilla Bean Chiller (with TGIFridays Mudslide mixer) here I come! Its well deserved this week!
Again thank you! If I could reach through the screen and give you all a BIG HUG, I so would.
Enjoy the night!

Girl you had me tearing up over here! I AM SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HAPPY for you (((HUGS)) OH MY GOODNESS I can not tell you.. Praise God and bless your family.. and I got teary eyed today at the supermarket w/my kids! lol as my oldest who is 9 was my little man reading from the list HE helped make for me to get food for the house and how he is so grown and I think.. wow.. to think just yesterday I was holding him in my arms…
Yes our babies are the most precious gift we could ever recieve! 🙂
Hey friend!
We have been praying up a storm here for you guys and so happy to see that you had a fun day! How nice that Jason will be home tomorrow- maybe you can sneak in a nap!
Big hugs!
Jenn
Lauren,
So glad to hear the Alexa is better and that is was nothing too serious. After everything you guys have been through I am so glad for you that is was not a big issue (I know it was a big issue but not nearly as bad as I’m sure you were worried it might be). I will keep praying the Alexa will stay healthy and contiue to grow stronger now that her chemo is done.
God bless.
Melissa
Breathing a huge sigh of relief here that nothing more was wrong. Go Alexa! Glad you got a HUGE nap…emotionally you were probably exhausted. And…what is a Vanilla Bean Chiller? BC that sounds really yummy!
Awesome Smilebox! Loved seeing the kids so happy! I know what you mean about “the looks”. The day my brother came home from the rehab place in his wheelchair there was a guy in the airport that kept staring and givng the look. I know it would have killed Tim if he had seen it. I know he is not a child or anything and that it won’t be the last time but it broke my heart non-the-less.
Have a great long weekend with your family! -Molly B
Great big bear hugs to all of you. I am so glad today worked out so wonderfully. I can see how much fun Alexa had–what a joy to the heart to see that. I will continue to keep you in my prayers.
Cheryl
So Happy you got your day at the farm ( I live on a dairy farm)! Continued prayers for many more normal days!
I’m so happy for you all and don’t worry about a misspelled word. We all understand and read beyond to the content/meaning.
Hugs and love to you all!
I so believe in the power of prayer! And it is something we can all do…praying for many many more normal family days!
So glad to read that things are going in the right direction!! Yay!!!!!
Amber cracked me up with her big rings and nail polish and bling in her hair, she is her Momma’s daughter for sure, she won’t be going out without make-up! LOL! 😉
She looks so much like you also, more and more as she grows up!
I remember the very first time I fell onto your blog, there were those pictures of Amber where she really looked like a cherub!….♥
So glad that Alexa is feeling better. When our kids feel good it makes us feel good as parents too. I love what you say about “THE LOOK”. Ethan still doesn’t have all of his hair back and this past weekend my husband’s brother got married and the kids were the ring bearer and flower girl. The priest at the rehearsal dinner asked Ethan why he shaved his head??? Sometimes you are just better off not asking what you are thinking! Later in the evening the priest did come back over and appologize and said he had forgotten about our son having cancer. Other people comment on his mask that he has to wear…..I’m with you. Just look at people like they are normal…..what’s normal anyway?!?
Glad you had a nice day.
I am so glad to hear that Alexa is doing so much better, to hear what she was going thru the last couple of days & than to see all your pics…oh my. Amazing…awesome.
Get some sleep Lauren.
Hugz
So glad to hear that Alexa is doing better!!!! You rest up and take care of yourself. We can all handle not seeing crafty posts from you while you rest. Have a great night!
I am so happy about Alexa. You are an amazing person!!! You are so strong!!! My daughter had a trip to the hospital a couple of weeks ago and ended up in major surgery, 9 days later returning home. The family’s that are in and out of the hospital my heart goes out to all of you!!!! It is not an easy thing to see your child go through something like that. I totally agree with you about the look!!! I also understand what you mean by you wanting to go through the problem instead of your child!!!
I am so happy you had a normal family outing!!!!! You are in my thoughts for more to come!!!!!
I wanted to thank you for being strong for your family!!! I know it is hard sometimes, it sounds like you are a wonderful mother. Keep up the great job!!!!!!!!
PTL!! We are so happy you had your normal family day for a change Lauren! Make that a double vanilla bean chiller, you really deserve it.
I’m so happy for you and Alexa for that brown poop. I’m glad that everyone had a good day at the farm. You deserve to have happy moments and today was one of them. I’m so happy that you see Alexa having more energy. Sometimes you have to bribe to get through the tough times. She deserves it! Hope you have a wonderful weekend. 🙂
SOOOOO very happy for your very happy day. So glad Alexa is fine and was able to enjoy, and that you probably can take your very weary self to bed and get a great night’s sleep! Thanks for sharing the great pictures!

Awesome news Lauren…God is SO good!
As a RN mostly stay at home mommy and addicted stamper, I understand the poop thing. Did you ever find the Poop Report.com? I ended up finding that site when my 9 month old went 13 days no Poop. We were out of town for the last part as my Grandma was nearing the end of her life, and when the Pediatrition tells you to give your child an enema while on the road you go what???????……
We ended up in the ER in my home town 8 hours away and he finally pooped up a storm for 3 days. I feel the pain you were going thru! Glad you got your day at the Farm. My Husband grew up on a farm and we will be there for the long weekend my kids love it there!
Heather from Kansas
So glad that you all had a good day.Enjoy your weekend.
Praise the Lord, he is in control……..he wanted everyone to have a good day on the farm…enjoyed the smilebox….maybe you should learn shorthand and it would take less time…keeping in my thoughts and prayers…….huggies to all..
So glad you had a great day. The kids look like they had a blast. I commend you for being able to handle the 5 kids. I can barely handle the two I got sometimes. Lovely pictures. Thanks for sharing.
YEEHAW, I am so happy to hear good news!!! It’s great you got the brown poop, and also great that you got to go to the farm. HURRAY!! I’m so happy for you, and VERY happy about the good poop outcome. Whew, that really had me worried…
Have a WONDERFUL weekend with your hubby and kids! You deserve a super fantastic holiday! I’ll keep praying, and you always have hugs from me! 😀
Praise the Lord! This is such happy news – I’ve got goosebumples!
I’m so happy that you all were able to still have your family day!
You’re smilebox is just precious and I enjoyed seeing your fun day!
You must be exhausted. Get some rest, then have fun. You deserve it!
We’ll chat soon.
Love, Renee
Lauren,
What wonderful news about Alexa! I’m so glad she’s doing better. Prayer is a powerful thing. You are an amazing, strong woman. Enjoy your weekend with your family.
SOOO GLAD you had a normal, happy, day! Thank goodness! I do believe in the power of prayer…just ask.
The “look” I know can feel like the “look”, but do remember that people see and think and feel and most often it is a look of disbelief that something so terrible can be happening to a child and the thoughts that go through the mind are ones of sorrow for you and your family and the trial you are facing; thankfulness that they are not facing that trial; remorse for even thinking that; awe of the strength you must possess to go through the mess of it all; questioning their faith and beliefs because children should not have to suffer; so ask yourself why? I’m sure the “looks” you have had are looks of wonder, amazement, support, and love…although they look like the “look”! And you know what….who cares…at the end of the day if you can hug your kids, I say, “i’m so lucky!” and my thoughts are really the only thoughts that matter to me and my family!
(Sorry for the soapbox!) But know, you are loved.
I couldn’t get the smilebox to play…I’ll check again in the a.m. I can’t wait to see the cuties! Hugs!
I can tell your heart is so full of joy it’s bursting at the seams! Praises to God for such a blessed day!!!
Whew..thank God that is over, huh? The trip looked like a lot of fun. They are so cute. I miss my kids being little like that!
Missed your Blog for a couple of days while I was away and I came back to find the Poop Saga! So glad that the problem is over now. You must have a really strong heart to deal with all of this. Mine was pounding as I read through the posts. Poor Alexa (and you of course), but that beautiful girl is just so strong she keeps on going through whatever life throws at her.
The farm outing looked like great fun and it’s wonderful that you all managed to end the week on a high note. Hope you have a very quiet, boring long weekend with no dramas!
The pictures look fab Lauren..you all looked like you had such a good time…especially Alexa. I’ll have whatever you’re having at TGI Fridays to toast you!!! mwah
Oh yay!! So glad it all worked out and Alexa is still doing good!!! Get some rest, girlfriend!! Have a wonderful holiday weekend! Hugs…
What a SWEET slide show! Thanks for sharing! Have a WONDERFUL weekend!
It’s wonderful news about Alexa and you all looked like you enjoyed a really fun day at the farm, God Bless!
Oh, I’m so happy that you had a wonderful “family” day!!! You and the kids sooo deserve it!!! Glad Alexa is doing alot better!!!
I know what you mean about the “stare”. When my dad lost 1/2 his tongue and his lower left jaw bone to cancer – he had a huge bar/brace screwed into his face to hold his jar in place until he could have a bone transplant. The stares he/we received when we’d go out anywhere were horrible. Even after he had the transplant, his jaw was very contourted and he still go those looks. I try hard to drill into my kids not to do this – how would they feel? It is so hard to ignore all the time though!!! BIG HUGS to you and Alexa!!!
I am so glad that yall had fun and yes 5 kids will tire you out. you know that look you get from people well I get that to especially when Damian has a meltdown in the store because he dosn’t understand (remember he is autistic ) and sees everything differnet than what we see and can’t have something and people stare he’s a cusser at me I just smile and go on because i don’t want to go through explaning it’s just eaier to smile and go on. I have prayeed for you allday yesterday god does answer prayers. So enjoy your Memorial day with your family. Hugs susan
I am so happy for all of you!! So happy to hear Alexa is doing so well!! Have a wonderful weekend! {{HUGS}}
I’m so glad you had a great normal family day and that Alexa is feeling better. Prayers and love do help. Hope the weekend is great as well. Now go get some rest!
I’m so happy for all of you! What a great smilebox presentation. They all looked like they had a blast! Good thing you didn’t go to the farm before you had to bribe Alexa to drink the mag. citrate or I think you’d be having a pet goat! LOL!
I’m SO glad to hear taht the meds worked and Alexa is doing much better! Sounds like it came just in time for everyone to enjoy the field trip to The Farm, and not be worrying about how Alexa was doing. You are SO right to be wanting to enjoy these moments! They pass all too quickly!
WAHOOO – I’m so thrilled to hear that Alexa *DIT IT* – LOL!!! Way to go little girl!!!
Have a wonderful and relaxing weekend!!! Still keeping you in my prayers…..
What great news about Alexa!! That’s awesome that you had a fun day at the farm 🙂 I really enjoyed the photos. I’m like Alexa, I just love goats!! Can’t explain it. I even search out petting farms just so I can see the goats, lol!
Have a great day and I hope you can squeeze in some rest. (((Big Hugs)))
“If I could reach through the screen and give you all a BIG HUG, I so would.”
Ditto, Lauren!
REALLY glad to hear that everything turned out ok, and you got your family day. I really laughed . . resorted to bribery . . well, I’ve been known to do that, but then when I read about the doll, I roared!! That lucky girl! But what’s wrong with bribery really . . everyone wins!! Hope you have a great weekend, and treat yourself!
Great news, Lauren! I’m so happy for y’all. 🙂
Well, good news all around for you and your family! Yeah! The pictures are wonderful. May your kids never tire of having you take their pictures! God Bless!
Yea for brown poop! Enjoy your happy hour tonight and relax. Alexa definitely deserve the doll and a lot more!!! Happy Memorial Day weekend.
Thank Goodness, Lauren. We are all very relieved. Blessing on all of you — get that needed rest — and when you are ready, we love to see your creations! {{{{hugs}}}} Julie
Why am I not suprised that you teared up?? How proud you must be of that gorgeous family.. The day at the Farm slide show was awesome, I may just have to add it to my special favorite s so I can look back on it every once in a while. Looking forward to some postings, but take your time we are all here for you. MaryAnn
Hugs right back at ya! I am sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo glad to read you had such a great day with your family, and they are just the cutest. And of course that you got the long awaited poop!

the pics are great! I am so glad you got the family day you all so badly needed and Alexa looks fantastic!!!! I also loved the bling bling on Amber’s fingers, too cute!
Hi Lauren, thank you for sharing. My dad passed away a few years ago due to liver complications and so I know how important poop and it’s color is! My mom’s usual question to me is ALWAYS “how is your poo & pee?” I’m very glad everything is ok! Have a great weekend!
Here’s a big cheer for a normal (wonderful) day, and a wish for many more.
Wendy
Looks like a fun day at the farm.
Praise the Lord! I’m truly impressed that you choose to focus on the Lord’s blessings instead of the trials. You have an victorious testimony that God is using to encourage others. Thank you for that!!

Great news and great slide show – thanks for sharing – I was out of town for a few days and just getting to visit – I’m glad everything is turning out ok for you. Hope you had a terrific holiday weekend with your family. Marta
I know that “look” and it bothers me to no end. I’ve started scrapbooking again and realized what a difference there is with hair vs without and I understand why people stare. It’s a lot of the unknown and the hurt they feel to see a child going through treament. I recently got asked if Emily was a boy or girl (mind you she had her TUTU on for dance pictures and a BIG green BOW on the top of her head (compliments of MUSTACHE wax!). And this little girl asked “Is that a boy or a girl.” to which I proceeded to tell her a girl and she asked “Why doesn’t she have long hair.” I know Emily heard all of this (hence the asking Mommy, when will my hair grow back.) so I tried to explain to the little girl that not all girls have to have long hair. Of course I also looked for her mom (NO WHERE TO BE FOUND!). It is heartbreaking to us but majority of the time our children really are oblivious. 🙂 It’s a good thing.
thank you for your
