WOW! Times haved changed!

Mar 9, 2008 Author: mytime | Filed under: Cards

I think back to when I was a kid. Our school would have fundraiser’s every year.

Our “job” was to raise money by selling the generic chocolate candy bars with rice crispie’s in them. You would get like 20 bars a box, and if you were an over-achiever, you could get MORE boxes to sell, after those were sold.

DO YOU REMEMBER THOSE?

Back then kids going door to door selling stuff was considered SAFE. Our area is also “safe” and some kids to still practice this, but “I” am paranoid. No selling door to door for them.

Anyway-when I would go “sell” I’d end up eatting most of them anyway, and my mom or dad would end up buying me & my brother’s boxes! LOL!

Well nowadays things are VERY different!

We signed Noah up for T-Ball again this year (only this time I think he will actually WANT to go and play, not sit in the middle of the field and pout-EMBARRASSING!!!!). Upon signing up we had to pay like $30, and read we also had to sell a box of candy bars.

OK-Im thinking, like “back in the day”, we will get this box of 20 crispy generic candy bars.

NOPE! Look at what we get

candy-bar-heaven.jpg

YES! $52 worth of AMAZING candy bars! $52!!!! These aren’t your crispy bars from 1980’s! AND you have to sell 52! That is DOUBLE what we strived for as kids.

This is a diet nightmare sitting here! NIGHTMARE!!!!! I know “Lauren you can have will power! You can resist” But my friend Paulette said “Oh you HAVE to try the Take 5’s-they are amazing!”

 Um yeah!! They totally are!!

There is NO WAY-we will end up “selling” all this candy. I already ate $5 worth! LOL! Don’t act like you couldn’t either-when PMS hits, you would be sitting there with me.

Now Im also thinking that T-ball sign ups cost $82! Between the fee and buying, um I mean selling the candy…………………..

I just had to share my tortchure 😀

Now for the card-

This is going to be for Noah after his first game.

starting-tee-ball.jpg Swing batter!

This card uses my Sat. Sketch—–>HERE! I love this layout 😀 and it was perfect for this card!

I used the Bitzy Bugz-Play Ball and the sports sayings set byCHF ( I can’t find it there-maybe D/C’d?).

He is suppose to look like he just hit the ball.

The paper is by SU!

I used my Nestabilities to make my baseball.

I wanted to use my paper frills, to make a border, since layering would be a little difficult. I only had green-so I turned it over, and colored them with my Copic markers! Now it truly doesn’t matter WHAT color you get/have! Just flip and color.

I thought this came out really cute.

I can’t wait to share photos of Noah at Tee Ball this year. Should be a better one.

I do have a challenge to post for you all to try-so stay tuned. It may come later or tomorrow. I’m pretty busy and my poor finger is swollen :C

Till then!

Daisy before-and after

Mar 8, 2008 Author: mytime | Filed under: My family stuff, Uncategorized

As you all read, our dog Daisy was due for a grooming! Many of you asked to see Daisy after her make-over!

She has longer fur than most cockapoo’s (one of the reason’s I thought she was SO CUTE), and is buff colored, with copper ears.

Anyway from all the snow, and rain with mudd,  she was looking a little scraggley! I normally give her a bath, but since she needed a trim, figured Id get it done professionally!

I dont even think she could see anymore! LOL! Here is the photo the morning before her grooming

daisy-before.jpg Daisy & Alexa

See-where are her eyes? LOL!

Now we have the after

daisy-after-grooming.jpg Daisy & Noah

There is her face!

She looked SO different. I wasn’t use to her body hair being so short! They shaved her “under-carriage” as I call it, and her hiney-for sanitary reasons, but I didn’t expect the rest of her to be shorter.

She is SUPER soft, and smells great! She was FUR BALL when I picked her up! LOL!

She looks really cute though-well her face anyway. You can see her sweet eyes now! I just think I have to get used to it KWIM?

Put it this way-we brought Daisy to the groomer when Alexa was at school.

When she returned home, Daisy ran up to greet her and Alexa said “Oh boy! We got a new puppy!”

Um, no Alexa-THAT is our puppy!

You never know just how much- (Saturday Sketch)

Mar 8, 2008 Author: mytime | Filed under: Cards, Saturday Sketch

you use your INDEX finger, of your dominant hand-until you SMASH it, in between the door!

I cannot tell you how bad that HURT! I actually got nauseous! I huge chunk of my pretty little finger, came off :C UGH! Let me tell you typing-OUCH! Just a continuous THROB!

I don’t even want to think of how my injury will affect my STAMPING! Oh, the horror.

My make up-lets just say the eyeliner looks like I let Amber put it on, and my mascara-definitely in honor of the late Tammy Faye – Baker!!

My hair-well that was a sight-its pretty long, and Jason had to comb it-double ouch! I now think I have the beginnings of Dread Locks. My curly hair is so not happy right now.

AND I cant button my own pants-I know TOO MUCH INFO there!

You really don’t realize HOW much you use that ONE silly little finger till its out of commission. I type awful as it is. I am now hen pecking the right side of the keyboard with my middle finger. Given how “chatty” I am-that is quite the workout 😀 Spell check is going to be saying the same thing, as I get a MORON alert emailed to me after they review this post! LOL!

Today is the Saturday Sketch. I have been on a MOJO HIGH!! I’m so on a roll! Wait till you see the Papertrey Ink release!! WOW!!! That kicked my creativity into HIGH gear! I have a bunch of great stuff done for that-so you will obviously have to wait a little to view the fruits of my labor.

Anyway-this week I have some great projects to share. Love my colors and layouts this week! Plus new stuff I bought! Can you say Spender Bender? Um, YEAH!!! More on that this week.

I LOVE my sketch this week! I was driving home from getting Daisy from the groomer’s and saw a sign for a T-Shirt place. I drive by it SO much but for some reason this day I noticed that it just had this logo that caught my eye, and inspired my design!

—>HERE is the logo

Now here is the sketch!

Embrace Happiness!

   embrace-happiness-butterfly.jpg   sketch-38.JPG Click to enlarge

See-inspiration is EVERYWHERE! I know MY design is a little different than the logo, but it was my starting place!

I do have another great take to create with this sketch that JUST hit me! Maybe Ill do it today (finger problem deciding), and post it later!

I felt REALLY happy when creating this card, and I think my mood is reflected by my choices for it.

The sentiment from Mixed Messages-Embrace Happiness was exactly what I was feeling. I believe that happiness is something you need to accept, and search out! We make our own happiness possible. By the life we live, the choices we make, and the way we look at things.

This sketch takes your eye from the corner of the card, to the focal point.

I LOVE circles-and using them in my designs.

I also LOVE butterflies-as you all know! They make me SOOO happy!

So I used Butterfly Kisses for this (my very first PTI set). To get the well blended look-I always use glossy white card-stock, then blend my ink choices. It really makes the colors blend SO well together, EASILY!

I went to a local area Stamp store and got some DELICIOUS  Paper Salon paper-Sweet Shoppe (and a million other yummies!!!) I LOVE pink and chocolate combined-so this was PERFECT!!

I highlighted the circle focal point by using the dotted image from Borders and Corners circle set. It also continue’s the dots from my butterfly!

The large choc. circle is my nestibilities :D. I puncheda large flower- 2 x’s and layered it. I then added a Bazzill flower in the center. I put my butterfly smack in the center! Like it just landed there!

I LOVE the By Definition set by Stampin Up! I think it is a great purchase for a timeless set. I have already felt it to be worth every penny! If you are on the fence I say go for it!!! Dont I always though? LOL!

OK my finger is KILLING me, so I need to run!

I hope you get to try the sketch! Its a great one to flip on the side too. I kept it pretty clean so you can feel free to embellish as you wish without feeling restricted!

Send us a link here if you do try it out, so we can all see your take on it!

I also want to share my NEW SIGNATURE!!! See end of my post 😀

Thanks to Katie’s blog-Check it out –>HERE. She ROCKS!

OK Im off-

Till later-or tomorrow!

Amazing array of goodies! I make one wish daily, to figure out what career I can switch to that will fulfill me. Traveling is apparently not a career I can make any money at! LOL! Thanks for the opportunity! )

Mar 7, 2008 Author: mytime | Filed under: blogger challenge, Cards

This is my card to you blog reader’s! I have a message below-please read it if you have time!!

I will share the card first, as my thank you note to you all is lengthy!

If you visit me here often, then that won’t be shocking since you know I am LONG winded!

I have my blog challenge to post today! Please check out the other member’s on my sidebar-if you get the chance. It was a fun challenge this week.

I do have some MFT new release stuff to share, so I will try to make it back here later.

This week’s blogger’s challenge was to do a SHAPED card! I LOVE doing shaped cards so was very excited by this challenge. The goal was NO RECTANGLES!

I HOPE this qualifies-since its sort of a rectangle!

Ter.RUFF.ic

mytime-ter-ruff-ic-hydrant.jpg

What do you think of my fire hydrant? Isn’t it SOOOO cute?

This card uses one of my most favorite dog sets! Its called Puppy Love. I used ruby red card-stock.

I LOVED making it. It was super-duper easy too! Took like 7 minutes to make this!!! And that includes cutting out the dog 😀

I know you probably want to know HOW-so here you go!

DIRECTIONS

You have your rectangle card-fold at the top! A2 size card ( 4 1/4 x 5 1/2)

You will sponge ALL the edges of the pieces in this card!

1) Use the coluzzle oval (or other oval template), and cut a half oval for the top-

EDITED TO ADD: STAMP 3 ovals on that piece. I used the A Muse shadow oval

2) Cut a 1/2 inch band, a little longer than your card front, and round all the edges. Layer over edge where 1/2 oval is adhered to card.

3) Cut another piece, about the same size, and only round the top 2 corners. Adhere to bottom of card.

4) Use keytag punch and punch 3 pieces. Cut one in 1/2 for the end pieces. Adhere to card.

5) Punch a 3/4 circle and put it on the top of the hydrant.

6) Tie around choc. ribbon.

7) Now stamp sentiment, and stamp-color-cut dog, adhering with dimensionals!

DONE!!!

If you get a chance to make one-send us a link here so we can view it.

Today I am taking our dog Daisy to the groomer! She is almost 6 months old!!!! WOW!!

She weighs a little over 10lbs, and Im told by 8 months they are full grown.

She is the sweetest thing-ever. I am so happy we have her. I know I say that a lot, but its true. Getting a puppy was a huge step and responsibility. She was definitely a great fit.

She is quite furry! Her hair is on the longer side. She is buff, with copper ears! SO CUTE!!

Her eyes are covered by fur-and I dont know HOW she can see! I can’t wait to get some pictures of her all prettied up!

The only thing that isn’t so great about her is she eats ANY AND EVERYTHING! If she can get it in her mouth, she will eat it!

Oh yeah, and her “accidents” all like to take place on my living room carpet! Which despite using the carpet cleaner-still smells like PEE!

If you have ANY advice on what I can use to get that out, and STOP her from peeing in that corner-that would be GREAT!

Oh yeah-and I take her out like every 2 hours! So its not ME! I swear within a few minutes of coming in-she pee’s in her “spot”. NOT COOL!

I’d wish for Happiness and a Safe Place
Not for diamonds and pearls or lace.

I’d wish for Laughter and Light to shine
Not just for to day, but for all time.

A week LATE :C

Mar 6, 2008 Author: mytime | Filed under: Cards

OK its NOT what you think!

Talk about feeling out of the loop! I got an email from a reader, wanting to see my take on the sketch! I had no idea there was a sketch! LOL! But there is! —–>HERE

Goes to show how busy life can get. I hadn’t even “checked in” to my DT forum :C

Anyway-Kelsy just for YOU-I did two-because Im so late!

Now I have to say that large circle gave me a hard time! So that is why its a challenge right?

Sweet Bunch of thanks

gina-k-sweet-bouquet.jpg

Both cards showcased today use- How Sweet It Is

(How Sweet it is-is stamp set that benefits The American Diabetes Association and the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. $7.00 of every set sold is divided evenly between these two organizations)

So I flipped the sketch-and rather than matting the main layer, I used my rectangle nestability for a illusion of the layer!

I decided a CLEAR flower would be in place of the large circle.

The paper is a slab by Rob & Bob studio I got like 2 1/2 years ago! LOL! The “thank you” is a rub on, on a tag from the slab.

Next up is-Stork Brought Boy

gina-k-stork-brought-boy.jpg

On this one I made the circle smaller, and cut an image from the patterned paper I liked. It was the Little Boy Blue nursery rhyme paper by Autumn Leaves (also bought like 1 1/2 years ago).

I omitted the long layer-sorry! I just couldn’t make it work.

The bird is flocked. Makes it so sweet and soft. I LOVE this set. I also LOVE that stork image-just perfect.

The colors really do co-ordinate in person! Now someone needs to have a boy! I think my friend Geny is having one soon 😀 Maybe this will fly its way to her house! But first I have to make her a BOY themed onesie bouquet! I promised her I would, and she was told to remind me when it got “closer”.

SO that is it for today! Hope you dont miss the mytime mail!

YeeHaw!!! Its a MFTeaser!

Mar 5, 2008 Author: mytime | Filed under: Cards, Home decor/3-D items

I am very excited about this project today. A little MFTeaser for you all, using the New Release (tonight) called Ride Em’ Cowgirl.

I have to say when I saw this set, I thought it was just adorable. When I got to actually PLAY with it, I totally fell in love with it.

It was very QUICK and simple project. You know I’m all about that!

Better yet you probably already own what I used 😀 If not-it would be worth the purchase of this container (wink)!

I LOVE giving cards with matching gift containers. Sometimes IMO the container is so pretty, it may not meet the expectation of what is inside. Ever feel that way?

I often make my own container’s and bags, but sometimes the PERFECT- already made- container is waiting for you to use, and you just need to realize it.

mytime-trail-mix-cookie-container-top.jpg Happy Trails Cookie Container

Here is proof that nothing should be thrown away!

I was in my stamp room-munching away on Somoas Girl Scout cookies-and playing with this set. I went into my template drawer, where I keep all my own templates, as well as other “I can’t throw this packaging away, I may NEED it someday” item, and saw my empty Sprite’s Brown Dot Prima box.

I saved mine after seeing one altered in Paper Crafts Feb 2008 edition- page 56 Hearts Treat container by Nicole Keller. In case you want another idea, go check her’s out. It was pretty genius!

I was planning on making a Pillow Box-but this was even better.

 B-I-N-G-O!

This would be PERFECT to put those Somoas in 😀 So I did.

mytime-mft-trail-mix-cookies-container-side.jpg Here is a front view.

Since the cowgirl comes with a border, I just cut an even border around her, then colored it in. I had to distress the edges for that rustic look.

I LOVE Guava, and close to cocoa for this Cowgirl set! Its so pretty without being TOO girly. You know what mean-more rustic girly! LOL!

I loved how the tag is hanging like it was Lasso’ed.

Just untie the bow-and pop off the top! Now you can munch the cookies-without ruining the package.

Now for the card-

wild-west-girl-mft.jpg Happy Trails to you-until we meet again

My dad ALWAYS sang that song to us, when he would leave. Too funny. It was the first thing I thought when I saw this sentiment. Maybe I should send this to him. I have not seen him in over 2 years! HMMM!

Enough on that.

I loved using the Guava textured card-stock on this one. The Star punch by SU! ROCKS!!!! Perfect size.

I wanted to continue the “dots” theme. SO I used Berry Bliss paper by SU! Its a perfect combo with this set.

My ribbon is by Martha Stewart, and was PERFECT!

Now the DETAILS on the MFT party!

My Favorite Things (www.mftstamps.com) is having a New Release Cocktail Party on Wednesday, March 5 from 9-11 p.m (Eastern Time). Flock with Flair-and some reflection

Mar 4, 2008 Author: mytime | Filed under: Cards

OK now before I post today-I need your help! I KNOW all my rockin blog reader’s are a wealth of info to me-so please HELP!!

You have helped me so many times with mice, recipes, opinions, support well you name it!

I saw this FABULOUS set online by Inkadinkadoo-called Birds Galore <—-please click and look.

It is a MUST have-so if you have it, and want to sell it, or know where I can get one-PLEASE drop me a line 😀 I am in love 😀  L-O-V-E

EDITED TO ADD: I have found a set! YEAH! Paula emailed me a place that has it in STOCK! www.cherishedscrapsandcards.com Just in case you want one too!!! THANK YOU everyone!

You are going to fall over with today’s post because it is yet ANOTHER SU! sample! LOL!

flocked-bird-su-always.jpg Always my flocked friend

This uses the Always set. Its just so pretty. I know you have probably seen a bajillion cards with this set, but “I” have not! So bear with me.

I know-what is wrong with me. Well I love this set, and it needs to get its monies worth from me, to justify the sticker price. So Im getting some use from it.

I often “stamp out” a set. That means, get as much use as I ever want, then never touch it again. SOME sets are one’s I think I will keep forever, while others, like trends, come and go :C

I also was sending this to a special cyber friend, wholoves when I make SU! stuff. It should arrive today. So I hope it finds her mailbox, and makes her smile.

I also can’t get enough from these paper’s-Ginger Blossom. Just a jaw dropping combo.

So I stamped the bird with my ruby red ink.  Hard to see-but I colored in my flower flourish.

Now lets talk about Fun Flock-I love flock. LOVE it! You can see all the purty colors it comes in–>HERE

Despite its colors-Im pretty stuck on just white, brown and black. Oh yeah, and olive is good too.

Applied my 2 way glue pen, the added a LIGHT coating of white flock. It makes is somewhat transparent. It also adds a soft elegance, and texture that I like too.

Most people think flock = funky, but not me.

Gotta have texture sometimes. It adds the unexpected. It can also soften a look of an object.

Flock also reminds me of those cool stickers we would get as kids. I loved feeling them. So this takes me back.

Stamping is a great hobby, because its an adult way to being a kid again.

THINK-you get to pick your coloring page-you get to color-you get to add fun things to it, like in art class-such as GLITTER, Ribbons and all sorts of fun stuff. We then get to present it to who ever we want-Just like when we were kids, presenting our art to our parents, all proud!

I was reminded of this today when Noah came home all proud of his picture he drew/colored.

I was thinking-WOW! That is how I feel!

I want to say “OK Close your eyes! Now look!” LOL! I think we all love that feeling. Just like when people comment on our work. Its just so validating. I don’t know WHY we ALL need it, but in some way we just do. We want to be valued, and appreciated. Just like the excited response you hoped to get from mom, dad, grandma or whoever when we were little.

Too funny.

Well that is the thought for the day. I am off to Target! YEAH!!

I need some shopping to fill “my time”. Hopefully I find some yummies in the $1 spot!

I have so much to share this week- so check back.

Till tomorrow.

PS I think the mice are all dead! We got some poision and after catching 28 total-unless I missed one :C I think they are GONE! WAHOOOOO!!!!!

PPS Im STILL having a hard time sleeping and have a mouse dream NIGHTLY! Oh I can’t wait for peace. Its KILLING my mo-jo.

Pretty Patterned Paper(trey) in under 5

Mar 3, 2008 Author: mytime | Filed under: Uncategorized

Ah! Monday is here.

I normally dispise Monday’s, but today is different.

My kids return to school today after a week vacation. I think by “vacation” they mean a vacation for the teacher’s from our children! LOL! Definitely NOT the parents-:D

We did do some fun stuff this week-like went bowling, a Crafts Day at our Community center, Space Center, McDonald’s play area and a few other misc. places.

I honestly cannot complain, it was a decent week. But to get back to 6 hours, of uninterrupted “my time” a week, is PRICELESS to a mom of three.

I did get some 5 minute cards in! I know alot of us say “Oh I didn’t have time to MAKE a card” I know I have said that myself. And NO I have NEVER given a store bought card since I began stamping. I think with all I have invested in the obession, I better either make it-or not bother. Jason would have a STROKE if I went and bought a card. Also to then pick one out and drive-I may as well have made it by then.

Now REALLY! Do we not have 5 minutes? My problem is- I have cards on HAND but HAVE to make a new one, if Im giving it to someone. Next time I WILL give away my 5 minute wonder.

I also feel pressure to make sure everything I give away, is a MASTERPIECE-not something that may be just as pretty, but taken under 5 minute’s-KWIM? But I also think it is the THOUGHT that counts. Just knowing someone gave you a hand amde card is a gift in itself-even if it wasn’t tailored FOR YOU!

OK back to the post.

I will say, when patterned paper is your focus, its all a breeze. No brainer.

I decided for these 2 samples to use the PTI Everyday Blessing, and PTI Aqua Mist/White cardstock for my main focus on these. The colors are just plain’ole YUMMY!!!

To keep it quick, I used a sketch of mine from a few weeks ago, that I LOVED!!! You can see it —>HERE

If you already have a pre-done idea for a sketch-thats even faster.

pattern-papertrey-posie.jpg Pretty Paper Posie

I have to say that I LOVE Shapes by Design. Its one of those that you may look at, and wonder WHAT youy will do with it, but once you get going- its great. I do love shapes and retro stuff so that could be why I enjoyed it so much. Once I got going there was NO stopping! LOL!

For some reason with this circle image-I can’t NOT put it in the SU! Scallop punch! LOL! I think it makes the BEST flower center. Sorry, I just see it that way.

I also used Border’s and Corners Circle for the dotted circle-LOVE that set too! I dont have the hearts or the ovals, but think it may be time to add them to the collection. Especially since I just bought the nestablilites to match 😀 I easily earned that Anniversary set, let me tell you! LOL! Im sure we all did.

I can’t stop using the Twill ribbon either. I really LOVE it. In case you ahven’t noticed its on like everything it will match.

Anyway-this is a quick &  cute card, for any occassion card. SUPAH FAST.

Next up-

pretty-pattern-circles.jpg Pattern of Circles

It doesn’t get ANY quicker! Just use random various circle punches, adhere with dimensionals and DONE!

This can be kid, baby, masculine-you name it. Just change the paper and sentiment-then DONE!

Speaking of done-thats it for today! I want to take advantage of “my time” today, so Im off and running.

Hope you have a great week, and will pop by when you can. I have some cool stuff to share this week. The MFT release is coming, more Princess stuff and………. well, lets not give too much away. Just check back in.

Till tomorrow! Or later, you never really know with me. In the meantime, I hope you try an under 5 minute wonder!
