Oh what a day!
I edited the top of this before I printed it because I realized most of this, OK all of this is just BLAH- BLAH -BLAH about my last few days-feel free to skip it :C I go into quite the rant. Sorry to be a downer.
I so appreciate the concern from many of you, with me being absent today. Long story-short, today the kids had no school due to more snow :C I think they will be in school through the summer if this keeps up-and I spent about 4 hours at the orthopedist with Alexa-who is now no longer going to be caring for MY daughter-ever again!
Yes I said a total of 4 hours!! With 3 kids! MISERY!!!!!!!!
He didn’t listen to me when I took her for her compalints of joint pain 2 years ago-which as you know turned out to be Leukemia, he said she was just complaining for nothing-despite my persisitence she NEVER complains, and something had to be wrong. Anyway today I realized my distaste for him wasn’t unjustified! He proved to be the same arrogant, and RUDE person I remembered.
I wont go any further, trust me.
Well I want to end today by saying thank you for all the concern and well wishes re: my headache’s. Each one hasn’t been a migraine, but pretty bad, for the most part.
Many mentioned caffeine-and cutting back. THIS IS KILLING ME.
You know what is funny (since that is typically true) I have cut down to ONE cup of coffee a day and increased my water intake. Im talking like 12 cups of h2o, in the bathroom every half hour. I am exhausted, and definitely withdrawing from it! LOL!
Im so exhausted.I have been exercising everyday as well. I am determined that by May 3rd-I will look and FEEL great. I have a goal and I know I can do it. I lost weight after Alexa, and Noah, and even Amber. So it will be WORK-saying NO to bad stuff, or just treating myself to a LITTLE bit, in place of a lot . Deprivation is NEVER a good idea, cause you eat EVERYTHING else to avoid that one little piece of whatever-only to then end up eatting that thing anyway!
Jason always say’s I’m perfect (as he should! LOL! ) but “I” want to be in SHAPE for ME! Plus I have more than a few pounds that crept up on me over the last few months that I want GONE. I only started Monday and already lost enough to NOT have to do a funny “squeeze into my jeans dance, because Ill be darned if Im going UP a size”! Today they went right on, no muffin top! LOL!
Its amazing what cutting back on sugar and soda will do-actually eatting breakfast, nothing past 7pm and and exercising can do!! I have a 20 min boxing video I love called Turbo Jam. You can lose 10 lbs and 10 inches in 10 days-seriously it works! BUT you will hurt in places you didn’t know you had!
As for the play place-it was AWESOME!! The kids I had in my group were great, and all of them were well behaved. It was actually fun. Now I want to take my own kids there. I told the teacher’s I want the same group, every field trip! LOL! It did totally wear me out and I attempted a nap after.
OK that was WAY long winded. Sorry!
I haven’t had much ambition to stamp due to my head aches, so tonight is SIMPLE!! A warm up card, since my mojo decided to go on vacation, without notifying me! So I apologize I got nothing earth shattering-till tomorrow.
I got inspired by a $1 gift bag from taget, and made this in like 5 minutes. Took longer to photograph.
The set is by Inkadinkadoo, and the celebrate you is from Simple Wishes by Papertrey Ink.
I do have a couple cards I made using suggestions for color combo’s from all of you!! YOU ALL ROCK! I printed all the comments so when I need a masculine combo!
So tomorrow-mid morning-Ill have my sketch posted, using a soon to be released set 😀
Stay tuned-and thanks for listening to my rant-
Lauren

You would have to mention losing weight as I sit here after having sushi and eating jelly beans. (It was my birthday today – but honestly, that would be a good excuse for every other day!) Okay – so I’ll give it a try. I have more than just a few pounds that I would like off. I did switch to Coke Zero – no calories or sugar! I honestly can’t tell a difference. I should start eating breakfast too. And exercising – I have some Billy’s Bootcamp dvds that I should pull out.
If I start, will you be my check-in buddy? I need somebody to keep me in line!
So – here goes nothin!

SO sorry about the crummy Dr., I’m sure there’s a better one out there; you will find him/her. It’s so frustrating when they are arrogant and uncooperative…not to mention WRONG!!! I feel for you…
I hope your headaches will cease, that has to be unpleasant. But if they don’t, YOU need to go to the Dr….you can’t be too careful.
Your card is beautiful, as is everything you create!
Have a good weekend, and I hope the weather warms up…we are waiting for warmth here in NE, too…ugh. At least my daffodils are popped thru the ground now~~YAY!! I can’t wait until they bloom….
Take care! 😀
Hi Lauren! I swear reading your blog today, I felt like I was reading about myself. I am a soda addict and have been trying to quit, but I get the worst migraines when I get off of caffeine (and become a major grump, according to the fam). I’m also trying to lose 10 lbs before our Disney trip in May and my mojo for exercise has taken a vacay too! LOL I’m going to look into your turbo jam–sounds like a winner. Thanks for keeping it real & relating!

Lauren,
What a beautiful card – this one made me catch my breath. It is gorgeous and one I’ll be inspired by.
I hope your weekend gets better the rough day you had today. I, too, am a fellow migraine sufferer and can only imagine the frustration and pain you feel. Here’s wishing you a migraine free weekend!
Glad to hear your day was long and tiring but other ok with the kiddos! Great card too, love it!! Can’t wait for tomorrow sneek peak!!
Kelly
Ok that doesn’t really sound great “glad to ehar your day was long and tiring..” I guess I meant I’m glad it was ok, albeit long and tiring:-) Sorry…guess I should proof read comments before posting them!!
Kelly
I’m glad to hear you survived the kid’s trip and even enjoyed yourself ~~ it always works that way doesn’t it? When you are dreading some outing/gathering, and fear you’ll be miserable the entire time, then WOW something happens and you enjoy your time. Don’t worry, I think everyone is the same.
And I had to think of you last Tuesday Lauren ~ I was in our local grocery store and was looking for some refills for my coffee maker (Tasimo packs) and there, right infront of me, was your favorite Dunken Donuts’ brand of coffee 🙂 I think there are a couple of the actual stores still left in Toronto, but very few, so when I saw their coffee in the store my mind went immediately to you my dear.
Glad you are feeling better and stop trying to be Super Woman ~ you already have her beat on any given day 😀
THIS is what you do when your mojo is gone?!? Beautiful! When I hopped over to your blog I saw this card and said, “Wow, that’s gorgeous.” And then I read the part where you said it was a quick warm-up to get your mojo back and I was amazed! You really are so very talented and I wanna grow up to be like Lauren! (said in a little girl voice) LOL! I hope you can find a new ortho doctor. It’s so not worth going to doctor’s that you aren’t comfortable with, let alone not even liking them. I’m taking my baby girl to the ortho for her first “real” therapy session next week and I’m kinda nervous. She’s been briefly checked before (during other appointments and while in the NICU) but this is the first real one. Thanks for the wonderful blog, Lauren. It really makes my day to see your beautiful work!
Hi Lauren, I too suffer from migraines and finally cut back on the Diet Coke a number of years back so I completely understand about the withdrawals. It does get better – just with time. And a big hooray for fitting into the jeans! I’m excited for you. I have been on a major sugar extravaganza lately so after reading your post today, I realize that I just have to say NO…and I CAN say no.
The card is awesome – so striking. I hope you have a nice weekend. Heather
Lauren,
Your card is so elegant and beautiful, it is absolutly stunning.
I love your mention of “snow” I remember being sent home from school because of snow but that is a long time ago when I lived in England.
For the past 35 years I’ve lived in Qld Australia, so snow is just a memory.
All the best,
Val
I know..you need another suggestion!?!?! Anyhow, I would get headaches/migraines the entire week prior to my period. I know this is rather personal, and I don’t know you, ( I am a nurse also) but, I tracked them and they progressively got worse so that they were the whole week. I don’t know if this can help you, but women can get migraines with estrogen withdrawl as their period gets closer, and I take a low dose pill all year, no headaches, no period (except 4 times a year). And I drink coffee ALL day!!!!!!! Very happy customer. Sorry to be personal, but if this helps even one person it is worth it. I feel so much better now and there may be hope for someone suffering with this. Thanks for all you do.
Lauren, glad to hear that you’re doing okay. I was worried when you didn’t post anything and was hoping it wasn’t more headaches.
I had to laugh at your deprivation theory because it is SO TRUE! I am so like that. I have to let myself have a little of what I’m craving or the craving takes over!
Congratulations on your success so far! Hey, did you ever make one of those tea bag butterflies?
Hey girl….glad to hear you are feeling better! I was thinking it was a day that you maybe just needed to rest up and get rid of the headaches. Sorry that the kids had no school again. Sure wish we had snow days here….no such luck though, it’s against school board policies to close. Glad you have decided to not see that doctor EVER again too!
I had to cut back on Pepsi…while cutting back I did encounter headaches from that though. I’m trying to eat better and exercise each day. I saw an ad on tv for that turbo jam the other day….was thinking I should order it! LOL!
The girls at work said there was some dude on Oprah a little while ago about saying you eat what you want, when you want…in MODERATION. Always eat breakfast and eat often. Put your fork down after taking each bite. Something about keeping a fork in your hand makes your brain think you are still hungry. I may have gotten some of this wrong as I am trying to recall it from a couple weeks ago….lol
Anyway….it’s now Saturday….I’m looking forward to a new sketch sometime today! Yah!!
Hope you have a fab weekend!
I hate ARROGANT people, especially when I KNOW that I KNOW what I am talking about!!!! Seriously though, why do people ever doubt a mother’s instincts. Men just don’t seem to understand that we truly know when something is wrong with our kids. Good luck with the everything. I get migraines too but haven’t for awhile with kids. Love all the cards and beautiful inspiration.
Man, you’ve had a rough couple of weeks now (maybe last week was just busy), but I don’t think I would have the energy to continue! You’re a trooper to keep going with your kiddos even through headaches. I know they can just knock you out.
I LOVE your card today, so I had to leave a comment since you didn’t think it’s that great. I think it’s amazing! So simple and clean, and I just love the colors. Great job!
Thanks so much for the card. I saw it and wondered if I have a similar stamp to use. I have so many thank you cards I so need to get done and in the mail it isn’t even funny.
I have a problem with headaches as well. Mind, I finally realized, are triggered by caffeine. I was addicted to the stuff and finally started cutting down and drinking water but mine is the flavored, sugared, carbonated water. I can’t drink tap water. It helps a lot. But I still have to make sure I get plenty of sleep and DRINK the water everyday or I end up with a headache like today. Also, something I find that helps. Bath and Body works, they should pay me for all the times I suggest this :D, they have headache stuff or a aromatherapy relax lotions, creams, body wash, etc. It has a euacalyptus smell to it. I just rubbond on som cream to my temples and them put some lotion on my hands and arms, so I can smell it really well. It works like a charm for me. But I also take excedrin and drink some caffeinated soda. I know, I just said I don’t drink caffeine because I am addicted. If I don’t have a headache then I can’t drink caffeine, if I have a headache I did a 20 oz. bottle of soda and it is gone. Crazy, i know but it works for me.
Anyway, sorry so long. Thanks again for the great card and inspiration for another thank you card I need. Sorry to hear about the stupid doctors, I know how those can be.
I just realized my comment and a TON of errors, sorry. Trying to rush getting it typed with interruptions.
Absolutely beautiful! I’m glad you were inspired…you inspire me with your head strong attitude towards goal setting. I’ll be here cheering you on, and I’ll eat the chocolate you pass up!
The card is beautiful. I’m so sorry to hear about the problems with the orothopedist again. Definitely, there is a better one out there for the whole family to go to, especially Alexa. Hope you have a headache free day today.
I hope you voiced your concerns to that Dr. and told him you were done. I think too many of them get away with ‘attitudes’ and incorrect diagnoses. I’ve had to terminate relationships with a couple dr’s taking care of my kids. You could go further if you are so inclined and report him to the college of physicians and surgeons . . or whatever your regulating body is there. Hope you get through the ‘caffeine’ thing and it helps get rid of the headaches.
Oh Lauren, doctors can be the worst sometimes. I’ve stopped going to mine because she was completely arrogant and didn’t listen to my concerns, either. I need to find a new one soon.
I’ve been suffering from headaches and migraines quite a bit lately. I’ve always been prone to headaches. But recently it’s grown to about three a week, so much so that I’m losing mobility because I just lie in bed with my head under the pillow.
I feel your pain! I hope yours get better soon.
Thinking of you……
very pretty card! Water is amazing, glad to hear you’re drinking lots!
Eating good is really important….some dark, dark chocolate helps now and then too! hehe
Love, love, LOVE this card! I’m so sorry you are suffering from headaches – I get migraines, and lately I have been getting one every day – blech! It’s worse to know that my 8 year old gets that kind of pain – I can deal with it better than he can – it’s not fair for little ones to hurt.
So sorry to hear the doctor had to be such a big pain in the butt, wow still getting snow, this has been a long winter for alot of areas. We haven’t gotten snow since Easter but it has been below normal temps.
Very pretty card, love the colors, they just pop! you cracked me up when you said it took longer to photograph then to make!
Sorry to hear about the doctor woos. Good job on the eating better and exercising. But the no drinking coffee I hear ya sister that is HARD! I love me some coffee! I do have to admit I try and buy the 1/2 caffeine ones. But sometimes I just pick up the big one at BJ’s because it tends to be cheaper. BJ’s used to have MY coffee but they don’t anymore, how dare they! I hope the headaches are getting better.
This card is fantastic (as usual)! Funny were the inspiration comes from. Just the other day I picked up a small notepad one that can literally fit in my back pocket. I am going to carry it around with me to jot things down. I can’t tell you how many times I was out and saw something that sparked an idea but had nothing to write one. Of course my mind is useless to remember that stuff so i forget! LOLOL. I think the kids take away my brain capacity!
BTW, you are allowed to be “absent” once in a while! Thanks for returning.
Maria L
Beautiful, elegant card.
Be careful with the artifical sweetners. They give me bad migraines and hurt my stomach. Many people are affected with migraines from the sweetners.
So sorry to hear you are having doctor problems and continued migraines. I have fired several doctors and left feeling good about the decision. You’ll love this story, especially after Alexa’s doctor. My girlfriend had a doctor that pulled something out of his nose, looked at it with a scope and then went right to her kid and was insulted and indignant she asked him to wash his hands before he touched her child, even after she pointed out what he had just done. Too funny!
Migraines can also be food allergies, chocolate can be a big cause of headaches for some and the headache can be as many as up to four days after you eat the offending item. Your hormones can also be to blame and you may find that you get them certain days of your cycle every month or a combination of both. I hope you find the cause and get relief. Topomax works well for me.
So glad that you had a fun time.
Gorgeous Card!!
Great stamp..Beautiful colors!!

On the same wavelength as the Yes, I survived the preschool fieldtrip – My Time, My Creations, My Stampendence, issue, What about the “Real World”, is the question usually asked of parents who are looking to home school there children. How will they know how to accept and get along with a racial and ethnic divergent society? After all in public education they are (rightly so) tossed together for the public good. I don’t believe race or ethnicity should ever be a barrier to living. But, I do believe that misbehaved, unbehaved, need some parental counseling and the public school system will not allow this.
