What a bitter sweet day! THANK YOU for the well wishes, and prayers. God has worked hard for me today! (Tracey some of that was for you too girl).
This is one post the exclamation points can do no justice for. I was in tears over this.
I have some FABULOUS news! Alexa’s LAST day of chemo is around May 18th! See my 30’s are going to ROCK! With Alexa in remission and done chemo then, what more could anyone ever ask for?
WAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I thought it was to be in late August, so this is quite a nice surprise. We will still have monthly labs and a physical to make sure it stays in Remission, but who can complain about that?
So only ONE more spinal tap.
Fever’s will no longer be so scary (yeah right), and no daily meds. Long days at the hospital. And many more things that only someone who sits here can begin to understand.
I am sure it will be very weird getting over this whole thing. We still have the risk for return for the next 5 years, but I have FAITH!
I will aslo say Alexa seems to be feeling REALLY great after her Chemo today. Her counts are great, but still good enough.
Then came the BITTER.
Poor Daisy-she hasn’t been well the past few days. I have been freaking out over it, and today was the final straw.
After taking Alexa to the doctor I had to run and take her to the Vet. Long story short, and a couple hundred dollars later (really bitter part for Jason-but it could have been way worse)-she has a stomach bug.
My poor Daisy :C But at least its not a toy or other object stuck in her intestines (like what was thought)
Just a cracker or something else, that didn’t settle well with her. Can you say my poor baby has a “senstive stomach” LOL!
So that was the SWEET of that.
No more people Smackerals (think Winne the Pooh and his Honey-talk) for her! JEESH!!! Anyway-its been a long day and I am SO very thankful!
Now lets get DIRTY!
Our monthly Dirty Girl Challenge-
It was Give a Shout out!

Required Element: Spring Color Combo – whatever feels like Spring to you!
Restricted Element: NO CuttleBug/Big Shot/Wizard or similar diecut/embossing machines.
Keyword: DCS208 (for Dirty Challenge Shout February 08 )
So check out all the girls blogs/galleries. Mine will go in my SCS gallery tomorrow.
I was in SHOCK over the NO die cut/embossing stuff, but they dont call it a challenge for nothing.
Here is my creation using Melanie’s – Just so Hippy set
Sorry I’m so Behind (thats inside)
I just LOVE this set, and these colors are spring to me 😀 Anything PINK screams Spring! This is the SU! paper-Berry Bliss. It is SO yum.
Since I am ALWAYS “behind” on sending thank you’s this is perfect for “someone” who I haven’t thanked-YET!
I loved the layout. Very different for me. I like the layers, colors, and brass elements……it all just flowed. This was a 15 minute card. Not too shabby. My paper was the start point. I like using a color as my base right now. Notice I did the same on my Owl card??? Its just “different” for ME, cause I LOVE white! LOVE IT!
The flowers are felt and velvet. Just so darn CUTE.
I hope you likey :D. I have fun doing these monthly challenges.
I hope to work in some others over the next few months. So stay tuned.
Well all this happy dancin has got me WIPED out! Up since 5:30 am. 5 1/2 total hours of driving, 5 hours in the hospital, and then 2 hours at the vet-WOW! Its exhausting just revisiting the day.
I’m off to crash with some Girl Scout cookies. I am already out of the chocolate coconut carmel thingies. I knew I should have ordered more than I did! LOL! Any locals out there?
Till tomorrow-

Gosh, what a day!!! O_o No wonder you’re wiped out!
I’m glad daisy only has a stomach bug and nothing more serious requiring surgery!
The news for Alexa are FANTASTIC!!! I’m so happy for you! (and her ;-)) This is really great! 😀
I love your card, but how could you go wrong with pink+brown, right? 😀
Hope you get plenty of rest tonight! And that Alexa has a good restful night too.
((hugs and virtual chocolate))♥
SO GOOD to hear your news about Alexa!! hugs!! (sorry about Daisy 🙁
I am in pink HEAVEN over your card, thanks again for playing!! 😀
OH YEAH! What great news Lauren! I am truly so happy for your family! It amazes me how you’ve stayed so positive through it all and now finally there is an end in sight. Your love and joy for your family and life is infectious! I am so sure that had something to do with how Alexa has come through this. Keep it up because it infects all of us and we love it!
Yipee!!! I am so happy for you & Alexa! She has been through the ringer & has come out a Trooper! I admire her courage. Daisy will be feeling fine in a few days & glad its nothing serious.
I luv this card it’s so cute!
Lauren,
You have been on my mind all day. Glad that Alexa seems to be doing well. So sorry about Daisy, pets are so funny. My whole family has been ill and of course the new kitten had to get sick also. So off to the vets during an ice storm. Gotta love it! Please give yourself and Alexa a huge hug from all of us here and go get some rest!
So thrilled to hear all your news – great for Alexa and for you all. I hope she gets something more than McD after her last session!!! As for Daisy – try her on fish and rice – Meg is an old lady (14) and her stomach is easily upset these days but fish and rice normally sorts her out!
I’m so happy for you and Alexa. What wonderful news to hear that May is the last date and not August. She sure is a trooper and must be one special little girl. Wow what a beautiful card! I really enjoy your work and thanks for all the inspriation. I hope that things keep getting better and better for your family. 🙂
Oh I am soooo happy that you got that wonderful news! What a blessing!!!!
And your poor Daisy….you’ll have to watch her carefully now that you know she is so sensitive! Vet bill, ouch!
I absolutely LOVE the berry bliss DSP and this card is FABU!!!
I love the coconut caramel girl scout cookies, oh my! My favorite thing is to crumble them in some ice cream! Have a couple cookies for me!
HUGS!!!!!
I am so happy that you got such awesome news about Alexa!
LOVE your pink card! I always seem to go for pink when I am making a card.
I am about 20 minutes from you, but can always get you gs cookies if you need them… my girls are both in scouts 🙂
Well, I am certainly not much of a singer, but I am singing praises for your wonderful news! Praise God from whom all blessings flow………
I am so happy for Alexa and how wonderful that today wasn’t so rough on her. Did she get to go to McD’s? I sure hope so.
I’m glad your little Daisy is okay. You worry about them just as much as your kids.
I am sending the biggest, squishiest {{{hug}}} as possible from Ohio!!
I’m seriously choked up. PTL! I am so happy for *all* of you. OMgoodness…. I’m going to cry. I’m glad this chapter is almost over for you. Alexa – you’re my hero.
Another PTL that Daisy is okay too. I’m a worrier too. When you were talking about her not feeling well, I was thinking along the same lines – something stuck in her intestines. Thank goodness that isn’t the case.
Now on to your card – absolutely adorable. I like the colored cardstock base. Very nice change of pace.
Now go and enjoy those GS cookies. I like those caramel thingies too. So good…. You’ve had an emotional day…. go relax now.
Hugs and love,
Renee
How do you find time to stamp, girl?!
Seriously, you are an amazing woman, wife and mommy – Alexa’s good news is such a blessing for you and your family! Thanks for keeping us posted!
I have plenty of cookies. I’ll drop some off tomorrow. Let me know what you want for kinds. I drop off some Samoas to get you by.
What wonderful news! So glad there’s light at the end of the treatment tunnel for Alexa! How fantastic!!!
what amazing news!!!!! i am so glad for you…and alexa! what a weight to be lifted off! 🙂
Yippee!!! So glad the end is in sight!!!! You do have one brave little girl. I hope she doesn’t feel to icky after her treatment today.
Hope the doggie mends quickly. Isn’t it amazing how quickly vet bills add up. I spent $550 on our kitty a few weeks ago for a urinary tract infection. eek!
Love the card especially the way you used the felt flowers!
Lauren…What great news about Alexa. I am so happy for her and you and your family! I KNOW the trials and tribulations you have went through. I continue to think of Alexa and how brave and beautiful she is.
Don’t forget to give her that butterfly kiss from me.

YAY!!! for Alexa (and your family!). Poor sweet Daisy. White rice always helps our pooches when they have belly “issues.”
Cute stuff, too!
HURRAY on the chemo ending date!!! That is fantastic news…so happy for you all.
Bless little Daisy, so sorry she is sick; it’s so scary, just like when a baby is ill! Glad she is going to be ok. . . sure hope it’s SOON!

Glad to hear Alexa’s treatments are almost over! Praise God! I bet I’ll hear you celebrating that final day all the way in NE!! 🙂
I am so happy to hear the good news. You and your family deserve a time to heal. I’m sending up prayers of thanksgiving.

What a relief about Daisy too! Yippee!
You’ve certainly been through a rollercoaster of a day! God is good!
Lauren! I am so happy that Alexa is doing so well. I think about you guys on a daily basis and will continue to pray for you. I know it must be such a rollercoaster for you and I am in awe of your strength and courage. I just can’t believe how much you can get done on a daily basis! May God continue to give you all the strength you need and for your 30’s to be the best thing to look forward to EVER!
Becky
What wonderful news Lauren! I am so happy for your family and most of all for Alexa. What a strong girl, such a fighter!
Glad nothing major is wrong with Daisy – my sister’s puppy was feeling yuck for months and she just assumed the dog ate something bad and had a reaction (everytime) but it turned out she got giardia presumably from drinking some infected water. They got him on meds and he is so much better:)!
Love the card too, of course:)!
What great news!!! I have read your story awhile back and you have always been in my prayers! I just would like to tell you that you have been one of my favorites on SCS…your work is so beautiful and you are so inspiring! Thanks for sharing your wonderful talent!
~hugs~

Fantastic news, Lauren — I am sooooo happy for all of you!!!! Your card is adorable — love the colors and layout! 🙂
Oh, that is great news, Lauren! And I hope it’s all good news from here on.
What wonderful news for Alexa and for all of you. I have faith too and will keep her in my prayers for remission to remain.
Love to Alexa and bigs hugs as you see an end in sight.
YEAH! Give Alexa a (gentle) squeeze for me & let her know how HAPPY we all are that she is getting better so fast! That will be awesome to be done with the chemo. I have a friend/co-worker here who went through this when his DD was really young, too. I think his DD should be in High School about now and she’s been in remission since she was 6.
Glad Daisy will be OK.
Love your cards here, too!
Lauren,
What wonderful news for Alexa and your family, I’m happy for all of you! The power of prayer is a strong thing 🙂
Adorable card, love the color combo, flowers and how you attached the ribbon (so clever)!
I’m so happy for you and your GREAT news. Give your baby a hug for me! And this card is simply adorable!

Lovely card lauren and WOOHOO!!!!! on your wonderful news!!!! I’m so happy for all of you!!!
You are RIGHT Lauren, that is wonderful news!!! I am so happy for you, Alexa and your family!!! Have a great day!
~Lynda
Lauren, I have never written a comment to a blog before, but i agree that children are so brave with procedures and meds. My daughter has a seizure disorder, and has undergone painful and lengthy treatment that would put most adults ( me included!) out of commission for days. These kids are tough and I believe, given the strength they need form the One who created them. They are blessed, and a blessing, and so brave, Godspeed on your continuing journey with Lauren, and prayers for you and your family
YEA for Miss Alexa!!! I am so happy for her (and you) that the treatments are going to be over soon!!! She is one strong little girl and has been such a trooper through it all!!!! She is such an inspiration!!!
Glad Daisy is OK and just has a stomach bug. My sons one boxer ate parachute cord that got tangled into her intestines. Cost them over $3,000 to get her fixed up!!!
Great news all around Lauren. Awesome.
This is great news! Sorry to hear about Daisy. I am glad it was something that was easy to fix and was nothing to serious. I am sorry to hear it cost so much. Unfortunately I know how expensive it can be to take care of dogs when they get sick they are worth it though. I hope things continue to go well for Alexa.
Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful news for Alexa! And I’m glad the prognosis is good for Daisy also!
Can you hear me shouting “WOOOOOOO- HOOOOOOO” all the way from FL!
I’m so happy for you both! I have a daughter who has health issues – I know how difficult it all is. Just keep invisioning Alexa as cancer free, totally healthy! Focus on the positive – it makes a big difference! Celebrate!
Awwwww, poor Daisy. 🙁 Hope she’s feeling better soon. Our cats send get well wishes too. 🙂 Way too cute card Lauren. I’m off to check out that dirty challenge.
Yeah! I’m so happy for Alexa. Wishing her five years of cancer free days and wonderful counts!
Poor Daisy! Our boxer Keeper can’t have anything related to people food. I just keep a tub of non-allergen cookies on the counter that are low-cal, so if people feel the need to treat the dog, they can with “Keeper and vet approved cookies.”
