Happy Valentine’s Day!
WOW! I am BUSY BUSY BUSY! Like you have NO idea how crazy-but here I am.
I also hope you get to do something special with the one’s you love.
This is such a Hallmark Holiday, and I really think you shouldn’t need ONE day to show people you love them. It really needs to a year long effort.
Jason and I work hard at that. Be it a little message on the phone, an email, a card in the car-left for them to find as they head off to the next journey. Same with the kids.
My mom would sometimes write little notes on the napkins of our lunches! I always loved it, and do the same for my kids. Or I draw a cute little picture for them. Pop up with random surprises. That’s the fun stuff.
It really is the little things.
Jason and I have a date Saturday! YEAH!!! It is SO needed. So we will really be sure to enjoy it.
OK Now I am off and running and I promised to share some good stuff-
First is my card to my AWESOME, loving BEST friend and husband-Jay
He is my rock. Anything you could want rolled up in ONE person-that is Jason, to me.
I am SO very blessed that he felt I was worthy enough to be his wife, and mother of his children ๐
My love, Forever & ever.
The heart IS the “card”. It opens on the left side. The photo turn holds it closed.
EDITED TO ADD THE HEART CARD IS THE LARGE HEART NESTABILITY!
The rest is just to add to the overall design.
I used this bird image from Inkadinkadoo. It reminds me of “love birds” and just growing old together, sitting somewhere, looking at the stars.
The birds are flocked. The moon sparkles.
This sentiment by PTI- Out on a Limbย is my most favorite-EVER!
The flowers are one of my favorite SU! sets-Stem Silhouettes. I added some punched vellum flowers to my branches for interest, and to continue the blossoms on the branches below.
I LOVE these colors together! Ruby Red, Cameo Coral and Black! I had to spritz some black to complete the look.
Jason LOVES when I make him cards. The more involved the better! LOL! Now THAT is pressure. You have to out-do the last one, all the time. He saves everything I make him-so there is definitely PROOF of improvement ๐
OK now for my Papertrey Ink tip
You saw she is coming out with 2 new colors! Aqua Mist and Spring Moss!!!
MY problem with ALL Palette Ink is that the COLOR on the COVER, does not come CLOSE to the color stamped. For me, this is personally frustrating.
Aqua Mist appears almost like a teal on the writing on the lid. You have no idea how truly gorgeous the color really is.
So I have a solution for ALL my Palette inks ๐
I stamp my labels (for this I used Limitless Labels), and stuck then to my lid. Now I get a very nice look at how the color is once it is stamped.
You could certainly print the names off, but for me having it listed on the bottom is just fine.
SO I hope that helps you, if this was an issue you had, like I did.
I also want to tell you that I store these inks in a white RIBBON holder (clear hinge top lid), from Michaels! It costs $10, and stores about 18 pads! On their sides though. But hey, for me a cheap space saver.
OK next up! How do YOU get more stamping time if you have children. Now I can’t help with ALL ages, but can tell you mine are 8, 5 and 3.
ITS CHEAP, FUN, and SURE TO PLEASE!
You are going to create a POST OFFICE within your home. Your kids will play this for HOURS on end. Writing letters, delivering them, picking them up. Its a totally awesome, and a creative game that keeps them busy, and happy. TRUST ME.
Target sells Re-usable shopping bags. They cost a $1!!! They are red, and are sold near the $1 section. They look like a zipped up wallet. Un zip, and you have a bag with handles! WAY cool, and you can bring the game to Grandma’s.
This becomes a MAIL CARRIER bag for your kids.
You all RAVE about those CHEAP $1 mailboxes at Target. I KNOW you have oodles that you are hoarding! So get them out.
I not only let my kids decorate them with stickers, papers, rub-ons and stamps, but they have about 15 they put throughout the house. THIS takes some time for THEM to do,ย so mean while YOU stamp!
I bought them some cheap stamps, washable ink, and markers. I get the ugliest notecards on CLEARANCE for like a $1. They can decorate them and the envy’s as they wish. You can even buy cheap $1 playing card for them to use.
I stamped the Limitless Labels on some Avery mailing labels, and thenย using a Martha Stewart POSTAGE shape punch, I make them their own stamps! Each had their own box of stamps, letters, and envy’s. They just peel and stick. And if they put them ALL over your GLASS table-they peel off, no problem ๐
My kids have a blast with all the different things they can do with this activity.
OK Im off to Alexa’s class party. I hope you all will have time to stop by at the PTI release. Its gonna be HUGE!!!
Tomorrow I will have a tutorial for one of my PTI projects. So hope you can check back then.

WOW…Awesome valentine for that awesome hubby. (I used that same sentiment for Nick’s…I love it, my favorite PTI set yet!) What an incredible job you did on that Lauren, he’ll love it.
mart too, about the Pallette inks ๐ That’s thinkin’ chickie! I of course, don’t have those beautimous colors just yet, but they will be mine…yes, they WILL be mine ๐
Hope you have a terrific day, and you and Jason enjoy your date Saturday!!
What a breathtaking beautiful card, Lauren. โฅ I’m so excited because I bought this stamp just last week at my LLS! Jason is going to love it!
Yup, I agree… it’s the little things all year round that matters. Chris and I do the same!
I do the same thing for the kids with the notes in thier lunches or day planners. Funny, I left a note for Garrett when he was in kindergarten. duh, he didn’t know how to read yet…. LOL!
I remember you telling about the post office play. Next time, I’m at Target…
Right now, I stamp the image, check on Joey, come back and color, go check on Joey, layer my card, check on Joey, add embellishments…. (you get the idea).
Great idea on the color system for your inks. Brilliant! ๐
I’ll check in later. Have a great one!
Hugs,
Renee
Beautiful card!
Thanks so much for the great postoffice idea! I know my girls will LOVE playing this! Can’t wait to put it all together!!
Lauren, your card is a true work of art! Jason is a VERY lucky guy. I just read about your scare…I am sooooo glad you are okay…and shame on you for not going in right away! (I know, I know…you know better..)
I am always so in awe of you and your work…thank you for sharing it with all of us.
hugs!
Wow, wonderful card for your wonderful hubby, and GREAT ideas for the kids! Thank goodness mine are grown, but I can just see yours having SO much fun playing post office! What a blessing you are to other Moms out there, with your fabulous suggestions!
I’m so glad you get to have a date this weekend, ENJOY every moment of it! I know it will truly be a special evening for you!
Happy Valentine’s Day to one great lady!!!

Beautiful card, Lauren! Love the tips for the palette inks, too. I bought some mail boxes for my kids, too, but I haven’t given them to them yet. I know they will love them, but I figure my 2 yr old when destroy hers. Heck, my 4 yr old probably will his, too! lol I know they will have a blast with them, though. Thanks for all the inspiration your give me! I awarded your blog an award of excellence on my blog:

Oh my. Jason’s card is gorgeous. I know he’ll love it. I hope you all have a great Valentine’s Day and a very fun date night on Saturday.
Love your Palette ink color idea! Brilliant!
What a gorgeous card for Jason!! I am sure he will love it..Have fun on your date,,and your right, it is the little things we do daily!! hugs, chris
The post office idea is fantastic. I bought Tyler a mailbox for Valentines day acutally. It is bigger than the $1 ones and has Elmo on it. Anyway, the card for your husband is beautiful. I hope he loves it. I got my Jason a 5 pound Whoopie Pie. It actually weighs 5 pounds. It is by Isamax and it is YUMMY. I will probably eat half of it during the PTI release tonight. See you then. -Molly B
What a beautiful card Lauren!
I do the same thing & write little notes on my daughter’s napkins on the fridge, etc especially when she needs that little pick me up.
What a beautiful card. I must confess, I didn’t make anyone a VDay card, how bad is that! My kids are too young anyhow, maybe next year. But I love your mailman game. Totally something I would have “played” when I was a kid. I remember having a “library” in the basement. I put books on a shelf, added pockets with cards for the date (the old kind, I can’t believe now they print me a receipt!). I have not found the mailboxes everyone is talking about at Target. That heart looks great, how do you get them cut out so nicely? Was this a template to run through the CB or hand cut?
Ooh! Great idea with the Palette ink pads! I also loved the card you made for your husband – I am going to use the same sentiment on the card I make for mine (thank goodness for PTI!)
AND I am going to try your Fettuccine recipe too! Thanks for sharing!
Lauren, what a beautiful card. I have that bird stamp, too, but it hasn’t seen ink yet, wasn’t sure what to do with it. As a teacher, I love your post office activity for the kids. Not only is it loads of fun, but anything that encourages art, writing, and reading is so wonderful. Thanks for sharing, and have a great Valentine’s Day and date this weekend.
My guys are 10, 8, and 5, and I think at least the younger two would love this game. Thanks for the great idea!
wow – what a card – just stunning. And, I love your mail game – so creative! Thanks for share so much with us. I love coming here daily. Have a great one! Heather
Lauren, your husband is just like mine. He saves all of my cards, too. It’s so sweet. But then when I look at the old ones I’m always like, “Wow, I can’t believe I made THAT. I can do so much better than that!”
The post office idea is adorable. I used to play something similar when I was young. It was fun. Plus it gives them a chance to practice their writing. Can’t wait to see your PTI stuff tomorrow!
I love your littel post office idea! That is great. It will work for my 5 and 3 year old (hopefully) now I just need a fix for my 14 month old TWINS! ๐
have a great night!
kerry
Gorgeous card, Lauren! I love every detail!!! ๐
Hey, I have some of these mailboxes and my grandkids 8, 5, 4 will be here tomorrow. I have a ton of stuff I let them use and even have some old notecards. I plan to borrow this wonderful idea. I think even the boys will play along with this. Thanks. BTW, great card for Jason!
You made an awesome card for Jason. Wow. Nothing like a lot of pressure from you own husband to make each card better than the one before; but you make it look like it’s no problem; even if it took you all day to make it. Have a great Valentine’s evening with the family and a wonderful date on Sat.
Smart stuff in this post, Girl! Happy Valentine’s Day. You think what DH thinks about V-day being a “Hallmark Holiday”…however, when you have been dreaming about having a boyfriend on V-day for most of your life and then when you have one, finally, and he says he “doesn’t believe in V-Day” – well, that just bites! It’s also kind of a slap in the face to say that you aren’t worth celebrating on THIS day -even IF everyone is also doing it. I’ll bet you wouldn’t like it if Jason didn’t get you anything for V-day, saying it was too commercial, right? Anyway, my feelings on the subject – sure, give them the love all year long, but don’t deny them the love on this day just to be a B&tthead.
My girls have had their Target mailboxes since last year. We used command velcro strips to put them on the walls outside their bedroom doors. They are used for delivering mail & also putting teeth in for the tooth fairy. She finds it very convenient to leave her $ in the mailbox.
Gorgeous card for Jason! Wow!
OMGosh! What a great idea Lauren!! My 4 year old LOVES writing and mailing letters so now we can PRETEND to do that!!
Beautiful card that you have made for Jason. What a lucky guy. My kids are 8, 5 & 2 so your tip was a great one. I know this because I was a preschool teacher and now I do daycare in my home. We do the “post office” theme in the dramatic play area every now and again. It really does keep them busy. Finding activites like that for them is exactly how I am am to stamp every day even if it’s just for a little while.
Beautiful Valentine Card…
nice stamp..beautiful colors
I love the heart..
I’m sure Jason will LOVE it!!!
Have a wonderful DATE on sat.
Hugssss…
Dee
Hi Lauren ~ HAPPY *Belated* VALENTINE’S DAY :0)
I adore your breath-taking card that you made for Jason~ I’m still keeping all fingers & toes crossed, that I’ll be able to order PT’s “Out On A Limb” set soon, as I love the cherry tree image and blooms, as well as all the quotes/sentiments.
I hope you were spoiled with loads of Valentines and chocolates by the kids, as well as Jason, especially after expressing your devoted *LOVE* for him ~~~~ geeesh, it made my heart go **Pitter-Patter** ๐ You’re a beautiful woman Lauren, both inside and out, and you can certainly tell by ALL your Blog Fans, just how beautiful we KNOW you are too. {*smile*}
Have a great Date Night on Saturday, and as my 80 year old Mom always says, “Don’t Do Anything That *I* Wouldn’t Do!” heheheheheeeee
Beautiful card, love the stamping and design!
hey- my kiddos are 8,5,and 3 too! i can really see your tip being put to use around here. they have a post office type thing set up at the childrens museum, and the 5yo was just there so it’s fresh in her mind. even to take it further, have the kids make a sign, turning each room into a store or location (drs office, grocery store, restaurant, hotel, etc) fun fun fun!
Wow….that card is gorgeous! That’s so nice that your husband really appreciates and loves your cards! Now, the post office thing is a good idea! I have two boys, 2 and 41/2 and they would love that…the older one has to make cards every time he see’s me sit at my desk. Thanks!!
This is soooo gorgeous!! Thanks for the ink tip too!
