In like a lion, out like a lamb. OK I know that saying is in regards to Spring, but I can make it work where I see fit can’t I?
I want to start the year off in high gear (hence the fierce lion), and always have it end on a sweet note-happy to start a new one (the sweet lamb part).
That being said-Happy 2008 everyone!
Hope you had a safe New Year.
I am so happy to be in a new year, despite how fast they pass.
A new year, new beginning
New goals. FRESH.
A great mark in time to see where you were, and where you are today, in the now.
How have you changed, and grown?
What has happened to shape these events?
Are you happy about these changes?
What can you do to get where you want/need to be?
A time of reflection. Some years will be better than others. Focus on the good things you have, and try not to dwell on what you don’t. Focus on moving forward. Become the best you can little by little each year.
Looking back, I have accomplished so much in the year past.
Things I never thought possible came ot be, and some that are to come to be. Its always a work in progress.
I have worked hard for them. Hard work pays off sometimes.
Sometimes it’s all about timing. IS IT YOUR TIME?
The saying goes “If you want something ask for it. Sometimes God’s answer is yes, other times its no, and sometimes its wait.” (not the perfect interpretation but you get the idea right?). So be patient. Its not always easy, but you have to know there is a plan for you. Sometimes we have to wait and see what it is. We may never get the WHY answered. I know I have many of those questions. But I have Faith.
One of my dreams was being part of the Dirty Dozen. It came to be,and I never REALLY expected that. It was really just the beginning.
Following that my blog . I never ever planned on doing one. Imagine that? Now look at me blabbering away to the whole world.
The many amazing design opportunities I have been given, where I continue to grow as an artist. I take NONE for granted, and love each company I represent whole heartedly. Never thought people would know who I even am. Or cared! I want to continue to grow and learn from each day.
I have been successful with publications. I had to put it out there to have it happen. That means rejection. Everyone gets rejected. Heck, some of the most amazing people (famous and otherwise) get turned down! So I sucked it up, and sometimes succeeded!
I am truly blessed. There is no “secret” I have. Many of you ask. I really don’t know the answer to most of it. Just confidence, faith, and hard work. I also truly LOVE what I do, and am true to myself. What you see is what you get-period. If I say I love it, you know I do.
I have also enjoyed developing relationships with people I never met. Touching lives, and making small differences in other people. Who said you have to dream BIG to make an impact right? One tiny step at a time.
The creation of Alexa’s Set was a huge accomplishment to me as well. Maybe even my number one! Using what I LOVE, to help make a difference. AMAZING!!!!
Its was one of the very first stamp sets created, in a trend, used to raise money and awareness for a cause. How can I not be proud of that idea? All proceeds from Alexa’s set benefit pediatric Leukemia and Lymphoma research! I am SO proud of that. I used what I had, to do what I could.
I think the thing I want, is to continue on the way I have-full steam ahead. Never losing site of my aspirations, hope’s and dreams. Always being aware and helping other’s as well.
THIS is what I LOVE to do. It makes me whole.
I love that I can be wife, mom, housekeeper, and many other things, and still fit in some of the “MY TIME”. I’m not ashamed to say I NEED it. We all do. Its all about balance. Find your balance and it will all just work.
Speaking of “work”………………………I am getting ready for Valentine’s Day. I love making items for this occasion-since most themes are cutesy and whimsical. That is so my style
This is my first post for the New Year!
So here is my “In like a lion” themed card. Not very fierce is it? But he is so cute just the same
Kept clean and simple. But I hope you like it just the same.
This is from one of the yet to be released sets by C.C. Designs . It will be available on-the 4th.
I just love this image. Colored it with Copic’s. The paper is by SEI-Ally’s Wonderland. The brads are a Target $1 find. The mane is liquid applique, sprinkled with pink glitter by Making Memories, then heat set.
So that is it for tonight.
Amber has pneumonia. She saw the doctor today. Fevers of up to 104.6!!! So I’m really on mommy duty.
The other 2 go back to school tomorrow-provided we have school. We got 8-10 inches of snow today. I have some cute photos of Christmas, and Daisy on TOP of a HUGE snow bank-which I hope to share soon.
I wish you all the BEST this new year.
Thank YOU for the love, comment’s, sharing and support. Its beyond appreciated
Till tomorrow.

So cute - adorable. I just love his pink mane!
Happy New Year. Very cute card. I think I may have to case the layout. My brain is in stampin’ high gear tonight and I think I need to run with that.
That’s great that you accomplished so much this past year - you certainly worked hard for it. Thanks for sharing so much of yourself and your art on your blog - your blog is definitely one of my favorites.
Happy New Year!!!
Happy New Year!
Your lion is so adorable, and some silly lady bought the last of those brads infront of me at Target tonight! I was soooo close!
Sorry Amber is sick, I’ll keep her in my thoughts and that her fever goes down soon.
First off, I hope that Amber is getting better and quickly! Fevers are one thing that FREAK me out in kids!
Second, Happy New Year to you all! I hope that 2008 brings GREAT things to your household!!!
Third, that card TOTALLY ROCKS! I giggled to myself when I scrolled down to see the card…hehe! LOVE that mane!!
Fourth, I hope that I can continue to improve my stamping skills and maybe someday get published too! haha…that made me giggle a little too…
Lauren, that card is adorable!!! I love the pink mane!!
Hope Amber will feel better very soon so you can get some rest.
Hi!
Thanks for the encouraging words. I am resolving to be published this year, hopefully I can figure it out! What are you published in, and how many publications did you try before you suceeded?
Also, I was looking through your recent entrys today and came across the little sewing machine. Of course, I rushed out to my local Rite-Aid and got it for only 5 dollars! Any tips or tricks to it? Did you use the adapter or batteries? Do you have to set anything up? And lastly, have you sewn through more than 2 thicknesses of paper? Please email me at cmjohnston@clearwire.net or pm me at SCS, my user name is thecardpixie.
Such a cute card! I have to get that set on the 4th! Happy New Year to you and your family!
Hi Lauren …. I hope Amber breaks the fever and starts to feel better really REALLY soon. But knowing you, you’ll have her back on her feet and running around, chasing Daisy and tracking in loads of dirt for you to mop up! *wink*
I love the new CC Design Lion and can’t wait to see what else is released this Friday
What makes me even MORE excited, is in my last order from ATS, I purchased the pink applique that you used in your sample
It just **makes** this entire card.
Ohhh could you do me a favor please Lauren~~~~ next time you go to Target to get some of your super-duper-AMAZING-CRAZY-Earth Shattering SALES —- could you please go and meet with Target’s Regional Manager and discuss when they are going to come to Canada and build a few stores for us less-fortunate stampers/scrappers here !!!!!!! hehehheheheheeeee I’m lucky if I can even find half decent brads at the area Michael’s Craft Store, as they are all independantly owned and managed here so the one closest to me (about 40 min away) is a disgrace and beyond unorganized. They use to be the highlight craft store for me, whenever I needed something or had an excuse to go there, I LOVED it, but now that has all changed and they don’t even keep up with any current trends or hot items
Again, this might just be the individual store management who doesn’t care, but it really puts a damper in my stamp shopping ~~~ thank goodness for online stores! WooHooo!!
And Lord help you if you need some assitance or information on an item at our Michaels Store. My poor DH went for a xmas gift for me, I had asked for a “silent setter” and put as a suggestion, the “Crop-A-Dile” ~~~ he went in asking about a silent setter and of course the deer in the headlight look was all he got in response to that. He then asked about the Crop-A-Dile and that was another lost look, as they didn’t have it in stock, and needed the Store Manager to figure out what DH was referring too. Finally my husband asked if he could order it, they said no, but their next shipment of paper craft items would be sometime in mid-January ! lol My husband said it was a total joke from start to finish, and he’s FINISHED with them (this isn’t the first instance where he’s had to explain something to them or show a photo of what I’m talking about) and told me to not expect him to go shopping there again ! haaa !
So now you see why I am literally DROOLING :)~~~ for a Target store to get here ~ PLEAZEEE!
Happy New Year Lauren and I can’t wait to hear about the new creations and goodies you’re teasing us with !
xo
I sure hope Amber recovers quickly! Your card is darling, and I love the mane!!
You have worked so hard for everything you’ve accomplished, and your recognition is so well deserved! You are an inspiration to so many of us, Lauren!
Happy New Year! I hope you reach all those goals you’ve set for 2008!!

Teresa
Oh how I dream to be you!!
This is about the most adorable card I’ve ever seen!
Big hugs to Amber that she gets better soon!!
You have accomplished alot and that is so fantastic. I love reading your blog and seeing all your wonderful creations. Keep up the great work and the positive attitude it’s wonderful.
My goals are to keep stamping! LOL. I want to submit a few more things for possible publication, try for some DTs as they come up, participate in challenges and update my blog…. but most of all have FUN!
I hope that Alexa is ok!
Holy crap, Batman! You have accomplished a ton this year! You have every right to be proud of yourself. My kids are grown and they turned out wonderful, so I feel like that is an accomplishment of mine, but in the last year I can’t say that I accomplished even a third of what you accomplished last year. I wasn’t aware of Alexa’s set until today; went to the website and ordered it right up! What a wonderful idea and cause. You have incredible gifts, Lauren, and clearly you are using the gifts that God gave you to touch others and be a light to the world. Now THAT’S an accomplishment. Happy New Year to you and your family!
YAHOOOOO Lauren! you have accomplished SO much, and it is all well deserved, you worked WAY HARD for it. Hoping that the success continues in the coming year, and that 2008 is a year full of blessings and happiness!
I hope Amber feels better soon…that pneumonia stuff is just plain awful, not like you don’t already know that
Hope Alexa and Noah stay healthy and start off the new year right!
I’m finally getting caught up on your blog. I was away from MY computer in FL for a week and only had time to catch up on the bare essentials when gone (no blogs). SO SORRY Alexa is sick! How’s she doing now? How is everyone else?
We’re all OK here, except for my Mom in FL, who has a bad case of Shingles.
Your projects are really, really lovely. I always enjoy the new & cool things that you manage to do with ribbon and I don’t know how you do it!
Big warm hugs to Amber!♥ I hope she’s better! At least she’s at home with you caring for her alone!! (and Daisy
) Some Mommy & Me time is a big part of the treatment…
