Well let me start by saying that I’d LOVE to hear what is on YOUR wish-list for Christmas. Maybe I can add it to mine. I’m having a hard time finding something AWESOME.
I think I have everything I could possibly want (GASP!!!!). So I need to think hard about what I want to get.
Since I get ALOT of emails asking my opinions on products and where to buy I am making a mini list of must have’s.
These are the top 5 things, in my personal opinion, that I think every paper crafter SHOULD own! If you don’ t, then you may consider adding it to your cart 😀
1) Scotch ATG 714 Gun www.framingsupplies.com
2) Scor-Pal- www.scor-pal.com
3) Copic Markers https://www.allthatscraps.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=388
Also see Atyou Glitter markers in category
4) Nestabilities- https://www.allthatscraps.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=551
5) Cuttlebug- https://www.allthatscraps.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=6&zenid=a31a55f975babb85388fc3a92554cdb4
Now I have reviewed some of the items, or other crafter’s before me have, and did a fabulous job, that I don’t feel the need to repeat it.
I would however like to tell you WHY you need the Scotch ATG 714 gun by 3M.
I want to say that I’m not affiliated with them, nor am I getting compensated for this “plug” if you will.
I’m just a happy paper crafter who loves a great quality product, that is affordable, saves me money, and best of all, makes my projects easier to complete.
You may be asking what the heck you are looking at! Well, if you are familar with mono-adhesive dispenser’s, then you are looking at the MACK Daddy of all dispensers! Its the Scotch ATG 714 Adhesive Gun!
You can not only see the various options, but now they have a video about how to use it, and load it! So check it out.
It retails for $36.62 —–> HERE
If you own one-please chime in with your opinions 😀 Good or bad. This is what its all about-sharing an HONEST view. I welcome all of your opinions and experiences.
The thing with this tape dispenser is, it was originally used for framing. So the adhesive is really sticky!!! Unlike mono-adhesive your project wont pull apart or fall apart. We all know how frustrating that can be.
Each roll of adhesive( I get the GOLD due to its photo safe acid free) is 36 yards for ONLY $2.89!
Mono-adhesive is only 13 yards for $3.99 each! As seen —-> HERE
So, you are getting double the adhesive for a fraction of the cost-plus it holds better!!
I bought a 12 pack over a year ago and I still have 2 rolls, PLUS a fresh one in my gun!! I stamp just about daily, and really use my adhesive! That is phenomenal!!! I also love that I get great tape coverage-no flimsy trail of adhesive, like the mono adhesive.
They have a wide variety of tapes to choose from also.
I had heard the buzz over these ATG Guns about 2 years ago on SCS. I (like always) broke down and bought one. I tell you that place has cost me more money………………………..
Now, let me also tell you, it was to date, one of the BEST thing’s I have ever bought. I like this particular style because it is the 1/4 inch tape dispenser. There are many other options, and my opinion is to get what is right for you. I liked the size of the row of adhesive I would get from my mono-adhesive, so that was why I made that particular choice.
I also need to STRESS, that the gun is pretty large in size. People discussed that fact when they first got theirs, so I thought I prepared myself. BUT, when I unwrapped it I was still pretty shocked.
Now that I have been using it for 2 years I am SO use to the size and feel of the gun. I love it, and perfer it! I never use my mono adhesive anymore. Plus it doesn’t get lost 😀
So I hope you found this to be helpful and informative.
I’d love to hear your questions, opinions or comments!

Stacy asked
Lauren, When you say that the gun is big just exactly how big are we talking about. Is it comparable to a staple gun or smaller than that? Thanx. Stacy
I measured it-
The top cartridge is 7 1/2 long 4 1/2 tall.
The handle is 4 1/2 inches as well.
Its only like 1 1/2 inches wide. Didnt measure that part! LOL! Just thought about including it as I type.
Seriously not bad. Just bigger than I had expected. I do LOVE it.

Lauren, When you say that the gun is big just exactly how big are we talking about. Is it comparable to a staple gun or smaller than that? You are the second person who has recommended this gun and quite frankly I am ready to throw my snail adhesive out the window. Everything is falling apart. What exactly am I paying for, frustration? I don’t really need anymore of that I already have three children, a wonderful husband, two dogs and one cat. So anyhow I am done rambling. Please let me know about the size before I jump in with both feet. Thanx. Stacy
It is probably the single best tool I have ever purchased. It has saved me SO much money over the other inferior adhesives I was using. This thing is a dream. Takes a bit to get the hang of loading it and a bit of practice using it, and yes, I wish it were smaller, BUT—it is amazing!
Cool you are talking about adhesive… I have been wondering what you were using. I use a glue stick for layering but sometimes things get unglued over time… and I save my little adhesive dispenser for things like ribbons because the refills are just so expensive and don’t last long!!….
I don’t know how precise I would be with this big engine though!!?… 😛
As for my list, well I just got the Cuttlebug (LOVE it!) as an early present and have my eyes on the new embossing folders supposed to come out any time…. (the swiss dots, the paisley, the floral fantasy…), next on my list are some Nestabilities (probably rectangular and rectangular scalloped…) and then of course I want to buy a few Copics, especially the flesh color one for example…
I know you rave about the Score-pal but I pretty much never measure anything, I hate that, so I’m not sure it would be useful….
All that stuff takes so much room also!! No stamping room for me here… :-S
Thanks for sharing, I like knowing what you are using! 🙂
Thanks for the tips Lauren!! I SOOO need that adhesive gun . . . and I never knew it! 🙂 I’ll be putting that order in right away – don’t know how I’ve missed it all this time! 🙂 I so agree with you about the other products – I don’t have that many Copics yet but I LOVE my Nestabilities – they are so fabulous!!
I have that ATG gun and don’t know how I managed before! The adhesive is awesome (the Tombow stuff came unstuck sometimes) and it is so inexpensive. I use it to stick ribbon down, too – I love it!
I had the ATG gun for a couple weeks and really made a good effort to use it and love it, but I found it really awkward/cumbersome to work with and not at all convenient/handy. So I sold it on ebay for a little less than I paid for it and went back to using my all time favorite adhesive… double sided tape (Terrific Tape). You can get this tape from scor-pal. I *LOVE* it and have used it for years!
I have this and I love it, now I must be a really messy crafter cause I have LOST mine on my table while in a frenzy of creating. But, it always shows up just in the nick of time. It has saved me alot of money on adhesive, but you do need to be sure that is where you want to stick whatever cause there isn’t any removing or sliding it once you put it on.
I have been debating getting an ATG gun for some time. I agree with the fact that it is large and I’m not sure how I will handle that in my small space. It probably won’t even fit on my table. However, I do use monoadhesive and I’m forever searching for less expensive places to buy it. It does sound like the ATG is well worth the money if you can get used to the size. But I also didn’t think it was that inexpensive to buy one. I thought they were like $60 but that might have been at my local stamp or scrapbook store.
Is the Cuttlebug really worth it? Do you use it alot? I have a Sizzix sidekick and never use it. Is the cuttlebug a million times better?
Scorpal does look like a great tool to have on hand and I am thinking of adding that to my list as well. I might hold off on the copic markers right now, but i’ll see 🙂
I also am adding a bunch of Bellas to my must have list.
Thanks for the information and all of the comments. I go through lots of double-stick tape and Scotch adhesive-runners from Sam’s, but I’ve been considering one of these for some time. This is what it took to push me to purchase … can’t wait to give it a try.
I have had mine for over 6 months and it is GREAT!!! No more running to the store finding they are out of adhesive. Also, it’s really not heavy or awkward to handle. I purchased the 1/4 inch – if I need a fatter strip I just go over twice cause most things I do I need the smallest width. And BOY does the adhesive stick!! You definitely won’t be able to reposition this! This is also the cheapest place to get it. Once you use it you won’t go back!
the scor-pal was already on my wish list but this ATC gun intrigues me. I sort of glossed over those posts on SCS about that topic – maybe I should have paid more attention. Can you buy this thing at a regular store (if I didn’t want to shop online)? I just thought it would be easier to get refills that way.
I have the rectangle nestabilities and cuttlebug – awesome products – I love them. I want the circle nesties next.
thanks for the recommendations!
Hi Lauren: Just want to “chime” in on the atc gun. Your recommmendation was dead on! If you could only have one stamping tool THIS little baby would have to be the one. I can honestly say, I would probably no longer be making cards if i was still using the mono multi glue– Too messy, too expensive, too time conuming. The cost effectiveness and ease of use make the ATC gun a crafters delight. Anyone on the fence about this item needs to run not walk and but not. Now in the case of full disclosure, I have to say sometimes mine can be a bit tempermental when loading the tape and if you do it incorrectly it slides off the mechanism and that can be annoying, but even with that minor inconvenience, I can still agree this is the #1 must have! Thanks for the post! Stephanie
I’ve had my 700 (pre-714) for a couple years now and LOVE it! I have the adapter for it that converts it to using the 1/4″ tape. I don’t know what I did before I purchased the ATG (well…yes…I spent a fortune on Tombow!) I highly recommend buying the ATG if you are a serious card maker. It does take some getting used to the size…it is lightweight but a little awkward at first. I found if I bring my project towards me and the edge of the table, then use the ATG so the handle falls below the edge of the table (and remains upright), then I use less wrist motion and it works great! Plus I love that I never lose the thing on my messy stamping desk!
THANK YOU for this review! I’ve been waiting for someone to tell me more about this product!
Do you know where I can read the other reviews you have mentioned?
Thank you!!!
I agree 100% about the ATG adhesive gun! I’ve had mine for over a year now and couldn’t live without it!
I love my ATG and can’t live without it. The refill tapes in BC Canada are a bit difficult to find and are quite a bit more expensive than 2.89. I think I paid about $6.00 for the last roll of tape I purchased, but it is definitely worth it! I find that the tape sticks far better than the Tombow Mono adhesive. Another thing that I love about this tape dispenser is that the tape runner doesn’t rip and make a mess, like my Tombow always did! This is the best thing for card makers!
Oh, I should have mentioned in the above note that I have the 700 model and didn’t realize that you can buy an adapter to use the 1/4 inch tape. I’ll have to look into getting the adapter and the tape now!
Thanks!
Great list! I have all but the ATG and now I might have to think about adding it to my *must haves*. Thanks for all you do Lauren!
Totally agree here. I own the 1/2″ model and will be ADDING ANOTHER soon — have been thinking about it for a while, and will jump after the new year for the 1/4″ one, too. I like them THAT much. I have found that the 1/2″ model is wonderful when I want more coverage… and if I am wanting to “save” money I can even use *GASP* non-archival tape for projects that I know are more toss-able…
AND — I think that there are 60 yd. rolls of ATG tape available, too. Imagine how rarely we would have to change tape!
Oh, I should add: if you use the cheap, non-archival tape — you will find yourself using it to make envelopes, wrap packages, work on kid art projects, wrap the dog… ;^)* You know what I mean.
I always say, “You will have to pry my ATG gun from my cold, dead hands!” (grin)
Well, so far none of these are on my wish list yet; mostly because I just don’t have the room so far. So far my wish list has the smaller basics: stamps, more pallet noir type pads since I just discovered them, and more stamps. 😉
AMEN SISTAH!!! I actually have 2 of them, the yellow one for 1/2″ tape, and the red one for 1/4″ acid free tape. Now I’m not a “real” scrapper, but thought I’d better have it just in case! LOL I LOVE MY ATG GUNS!!! They are awesome…and sooooo economical. I was tired of cards falling apart after all that work…with ATG tape that will NOT happen! (just don’t goof and get it in the wrong spot, ’cause you WON’T be moving it!!Haha) So I vote with Lauren, get an ATG gun for Christmas, if you don’t have one! They are GREAT!!!
Funny…I was up one night last week because I could not sleep and so I got on line and I bought this gun. I cannot wait to play with it since I have read your review. What a wonderful thing for you to do…share with others what you know works! Thanks bunches !!!
Oh, Lauren — I totally, completely, 100% agree with you about the ATG gun! Couldn’t live w/o it now. There are a few things I still use my Mono Multi for, and for ribbon I can’t live w/o Fabri-tac, but 95% of my adhering is done with my beloved ATG. And for those of you who are worried about the size, don’t be. Yes, it’s big, but I promise you’ll get used to it in an instant. I loved mine so much, I had to buy one for a friend for her b-day because I knew she’d never buy one for herself. She squealed and jumped up and down, and loves it every bit as much as I do mine. : )
I hope it is ok to mention this – someone commented on measuring…this is the beauty of Scor-Pal you don’t have to measure, it is all done for you. If it says to score at 4″ you just look for the number 4 and there is the groove you need. Quick and easy and a perfect score.

Lauren, I love my ATG! It did take me a while to get used to it because I’m a lefty & I can’t see exactly where I’m putting the adhesive because the gun’s in the way, if that makes sense. Now that I’m used to it, don’t know how I lived without it! I am one of those though who explodes when she creates so I have “lost” it more than once.
I love my ATG, too! I ran out of my first roll today and thought well I just have a bit more to do, I’ll use one of the little dispensers and fill this one later. I got up after just a couple swipes with the other adhesive and filled my ATG — which only took a minute BTW. When I first saw these I questioned how you would ever control little pieces of adhesive with that great big ole thing. And I must say it is the easiest most controllable adhesive applier that I have used. It is fast to use too. So if you have a lot of stuff to do, it is the only way to go. If you don’t have one, you really, really need one!
Well I have 4 out of the 5. I will have to try and locate the tape and see how I like it.
Have a great day.
Snowy here.
Janine
love mine! Don’t know how I lived without it. It’s easy, cheap, really quick and not messy! It does take a little getting used to and especially the re-loading of it. I would highly recommend it to anyone.
I LOVE mine too, and you just reminded me that I need to order more tape. Thanks! 😉
I was gone all of last week with no internet access (the horror!!–but it I was at Disney so I manged!!) so I have a lot to catch up on but I just wanted to chime in and say the ATG *is* a must have!! It’s my most cherished stamp necessity…after my stamps, of course!! LOVE this tool!!!
This is an absolute MUST HAVE!!!!!!! Can’t stress this enough!!!!!!! {See…lot’s of exclamation points means you really, really must have this!}
I absolutely love love love my ATG gun. I use about a roll of adhesive each month. It is definitely a must have.
After using mono and snail, I wrote this poem (with apologies to Dr. Seuss) and sent it to Demo Support in September of 2006. Obviously it didn’t help, but it sure made me feel better.
I do not like adhesive snail
I do not like it in the mail
It cannot/will not stick my card
I only want to see it charred!
All my cards do fall apart
Samples fall off of my chart
Pictures come off of my page
I use it, then go into rage!
I do not like adhesive snail.
I will not use it in the mail.
I will not use it on a card
It makes my demos oh so hard!
Please find us something else to stick
Our card, our pages, or a brick!
We need another adhesive here
Something that will make us cheer!
[…] I adhered this stuff using myATG Gun. […]
Ok, got mine in the mail today…And boy is it BIG!!! I know you all said that, but I just wasn’t prepared. I just started laughing. My oldest son said what the heck is that??? (he’s 16). I can’t wait to use it tonight!!!! I am going to just start and see what I come up with! Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience. You truly inspire me on a daily basis!
Thanks
Stacie
What kind of tape do you use in the ATG gun? Is the gold transfer tape double sided? I am anxious to order the gun, but was confused with the tape.
Thanks so much!
