Its Sunday. The end of the week. Sunday is always sad for me.
I thought I would share the altered frame I made last week with all of you.
My friend Erin is due to have her first baby-a little girl.
I altered her this frame for part of her gift. Its by Bare Elements.
The DIVINE paper from Rubber Soul matched her room colors, to a ‘T”. I also thought the senitment from the Baby Shower set by Green Grass was PERFECT for the focal point of this frame.
Another COOL detail……………the top right corner-has a $1 Key Tag! Remove the cover, and insert a photo, or bracelet, maybe a lock of hair! I tied on a flower and some ribbon-VIOLA!
The lower right corner has an acrylic frame by Making Memories, that I stamped a place for the stats of the birth !
Date
Time
Weight
Length
She can add some chipboard letters, in the empty space once the baby is named. They are thinking Avery, but are unsure-Im not putting anything in glitter and glue yet!
I know I changed Amber’s name from Rebecca (during pregnancy) to Amber once she was born. LONG STORY!
I also liked Brielle, or Lily. But she didnt “look” like those either. Amber was PERFECT.
So, what’s so great?
I came up with this FABULOUS gift idea! Alter a frame to match the room, and in the photo insert I will place a YEAR membership to our area photo place, along with enough money to purchase a photo package!
Our Sears has a photo place that now offers these new photography gift cards! I know as a new mom I got Alexa’s photos done religiously for the first few years of life! I would have loved to not have paid a membership fee and get discounts and gift certificates to the photo place! Lets not say how awful I am about professional photos now! YIKES!!! Hangin my head in shame.
Since she has had/is having like 5 different baby showers due to spread out family/friends I hope my gift will stand out and be original! And get used!
Best part-the shower is 2 weeks away and Im not scrambling for a gift! GO ME!!! Im usually a last minute stamper, but am attempting to change that.
Id love to hear any original baby gift idea YOU have or had 😀
Thanks for reading

Beautiful frame Lauren! Your friend is going to love it!!
Great picture frame! Who wouldn’t love it? I made a set of thank you cards and a Jacob’s Ladder (for pictures) for the last new mom that I know. I have another friend that just found out she is pregnant though so I must come up with something!
Lauren – WOW…This is amazing. Your friend will love it, and what a terrific idea about the pictures…I wasn’t even that religious about the first one, so poor Alexandra is gonna be in trouble 😉
Stunning!
Very cute and excellent gift! The mom will love it! Very creative!!
Adorable frame! That’s a perfect gift that will match her baby’s room, who wouldn’t love that! 🙂 …
I guess the most original thing I ever made was bath hooded towels & baby blankets for my twins nephew & niece. I am not much of a sewer but I did the hoods myself (bought Martha stewart matching towels and went from there) and decorated them as little animals face (a cat & a dog), and I also made little baby blankets by sandwiching fleece between two layers of coordinating fabric (I made one for each of my babies and my little Noah still loves to cuddle with it at night ;-))…
It was a awful lot of work and didn’t get used much I believe (It seems like Ralph Lauren was more favored than homemade gifts…) so I didn’t think I’d ever go through that trouble again…
But I did it again for my niece (other side of the family) she got a frog towel, and with the rest of her blanket’s fabric I made a bag for plastic bags (convenient to wrap stinky diapers…). This set got a lot more used 😉 so I was very happy 🙂
I’ll try to fish out the pictures now that I remember that!!! I don’t think I have the frog though, too bad, it was really cute!…
For my next baby (working on it, but no success ;-)) I would love to receive a coupon for a few hours of baby sitting as a gift!!! LOL 🙂
Nobody ever made something all by themselves for my babies so I’m sure I would be touched by anything with my baby’s name on it or a decorated picture frame made with us in mind. Those are the best gift because you know the person really put their heart in it! ♥
Quick question! : What kind of glue do you use for this kind of project? I’m looking for a strong glue that’s not gonna make the paper absorb it and wrinkle…
Thanks! 🙂
Lauren – This is beautiful, your friend will love it!!
Dang! Almost wish I wasn’t done having kids. What an awesome shower gift. I would definitely have used it.
I went and fished out my pics….

Thanks for the trip down memory lane!! 🙂
Gorgeous Lauren! And what a great gift. You know, anytime you want to schedule professional photographs on your schedule, I know a photographer who will travel! 😉 A little more expensive than Sears though, but worth every penny!
Congrats to you for getting it done way in advance. I’m sure it will stand out from all the other gifts and will be cherished forever.
That is just the neatest gift ever!! Your friend will surely be thrilled, especially with the gift of photography to go along with it! You did an amazing job, and thanks for sharing. . . and I love the skating penguin down below this post, too!!! 🙂
Your frame is lovely. Quite original that is for sure. 🙂 I love all of the little extras that you addedto it and I am very certain that your friend will love your gift! It will with out a doubt be the hit of the baby shower gifts. 🙂

great gift – she will love it plus the gift card to the photography place. that’s a gift that will last a lifetime!
Love your frame–so, so pretty! I went to a baby shower a few weeks ago and knew that I wanted to make something special for the baby. They decorated the baby’s room with the more modern Winnie the Pooh design–blues, greens, and tans–and they’re having a little girl, so I was alittle stumped, especially when I couldn’t find any WP designer paper. So I found some pretty papers in the colors of the room, and made a name frame for Alyssa. I used lots of ribbon, brads, beautiful vintage looking ceramic type hearts–they loved it. And if I might add–it truly did stand out among all the baby clothes that she received. I know that it’s something that they’ll be able to cherish for years to come.
I love your frame! I saw this really cool, yet useful baby shower gift here at Heather’s blog.
