This term applies to more than one area today. I am SAD SAD DAS-even happy mail (aka stamp deliveries) could not turn my frown up side down.
My Mom called and had to cancel the babysitting for Jason’s 30th Birthday party/getaway because she has the flu.
Im so bummed! I have been trying to organize this for months. I know she needs to rest, and definitely dont want my kids getting sick it’s just been a sucky day! And that is awful news-both cause I dont want my mom to get REALLY sick, cause she never lets herself fully recover, and because we NEVER get alone time. When you have a child in this situation its very important to keep “watering the garden” in other words-maintain your marriage.
ANOTHER HUGE disappointment-
If you didnt know The Rubber Stamper, and Paper Made Easy magazines are combining into one great magazine called Crafts n Things.
Now this is cool-but they are basically having to take THREE magazine worth of accpeted stamping/paper crafting projects, and combine them into ONE issue for months worth of acceptances. A very difficutl task Im sure.
SO heres the bad part-
I had this super cute project accepted MONTHS ago-but due to the merger it has NO ROOM in issue’s! A few others that were due to be published in Novemeber/Decemeber got moved to February-thats OK! But to get accepted then rejected really is a bummer.
I’ll hear back later on some others.
Im just really sad-ESPECIALLY since I LOVED my project!
So thanks for reading. I know the blah, blah, blah can be ANNOYING. So Ill get to it!
Here is the REJECT!
Is this NOT cute? SERIOUSLY (channeling the cast of Grey’s Anatomy here)
I made the gingerbread man cardholder template MYSELF! I was inspired by my paper-by DCWV (holiday stack from 2 years ago??)
His little hands hold the “gift card”, and he fits into the door knob hanger holder! OR a gift could go in there too.
See the gingerbread couple on the plate? I loved that. And the wrapped peppermint candy! (That is a sizzix die cut I made)
The stamps are by Lizzie Anne -Celebrations II (two gingerbread couple), Designer Dots (for the plate), Simply Sentiments (for the gift card).
Well thanks for looking.
Sorry-this is just depressing!
Till tomorrow………………………………..

So sorry to hear that! If I was close, I would definitely keep your kids for you while you got away!
And yes…that project is just adorable and I don’t know what they were thinking!
That really sucks! Why don’t you try and submit it into other magazines if they are still looking for the winter months? They are very cute and looks like you put alot of work into the project!
oh honey, what a bummer. I do feel for you.
I’m not in your position regarding Alexia, but I have two boys and trying to find ‘us’ time is a nightmare, and very very rare!
I love your gingerbread project, and they are certainly missing out on not printing that, but I’m mega glad you shared it with us x big hug for your down day x
Oh man! I feel your pain! We hardly ever get to spend time ALONE together without the kids! That really stinks! I’ve found that the few (and I MEAN FEW) times we’ve had ‘dates’, it’s really made a huge difference in our marriage.
And the project! Uh! I’ve never been published… but I can’t IMAGINE being accepted only to be told later that they can’t use it! Double Uh!
Well… try to hang in there! It’s got to get better!
Oh that is SERIOUSLY cute! I was majorly bummed about the merger, too. No way that Craft N Things will compare with a total rubber stamp magazine like The Rubber Stamper.
Sorry to hear about your cancelled “date”, too. Hopefully you can reschedule again very soon.
Connie
Sorry to hear about your mom and plans not panning out for you and your DH. The whole merger stuff does suck… but you know what, they’re uber cute, I *heart* them!
I’m sorry you had such a bad day Lauren! I hope your mom has a speedy recovery. Can you reschedule your getaway weekend?
Your gingerbread project is super cute! It’s definitely their loss that they ran out of room!
[…] Check it out! While looking through the blogosphere we stumbled on an interesting post today. Here’s a quick excerptSee the gingerbread couple on the plate? I loved that. And the wrapped peppermint candy! (That is a sizzix die cut I made). The stamps are by Lizzie Anne -Celebrations II (two gingerbread couple), Designer Dots (for the plate), … […]
I am soooo sorry about this unexpected rejection Lauren! I think they must have been really silly to not accept this, this is one of the CUTEST things I have ever seen. There should be more magazines, not less. We need more inspiration and more variety.
And sorry to hear about your cancled date……I know the feeling.
How cute is that? I hope your weekend gets beter.
Oh darn, you day sounds as depressing as mine. Such bad timing with your Mom being sick, I’m so sorry to hear that 🙁 I hope you’ll be able to reschedule you get-away very soon but I understand how dissapointed you must be.
Now the rejected project, this is really stupid! I obviously haven’t seen the other submissions but this little gingerbread man is so awesome and so original, I don’t get how they could turn that down! *shakes head*
I hope you get get back on your feet by having a great week-end with the kids before Winter is here, maybe pick your halloween pumpkin already and drink fresh cider? And also I hope you’ll get plenty of stamping time to distract you! 🙂 and maybe try those new stamps from the happy mail?… :-p
BTW, don’t ever feel sorry about complaining! First of all it is YOUR blog, LOL! Second I am pretty sure we can all relate to having disappointing days like that, or understand your blue feelings, and sometimes it really helps to just get things off your chest!
Have a great week-end ♥
I’m sorry to hear about your disappointment… That does suck! Can you go another weekend?
If it makes you feel any better, your gingerbread man gift set ROCKS! I LOVE it! I hope you have a good weekend anyway Lauren…..
Take care!
~Lynda
super cute gingerbread man – that couple on a plate is adorable! hope your mom recovers soon so you can have some fun time with hubby. 🙂
Now that is sooooooo depressing especially since this gingerbread man is so dang cute! I sure hope your mom gets well fast so you and Jason can get some “our time” together soon.
I cannot believe they passed on the gingerman? I love the idea that he hold the gift certificate too. Their loss, I suppose. Try not to be too bummed about the rejection. We still love you to pieces!!
Sorry about your date night. That is a bummers. Hopefully you can just juggle a few things and do it next weekend, hopefully, maybe??? I hope you’re mom feels better soon too.
Hugs,
Renee
Super cute project! Wish I was close enought o sit for you. Hope mom feels better soon. ((hugs))
:o( special birthday, special get-away. I hope your mom gets better quickly and hope someone else (or severals someone elses, LOL, we can’t all be mom and grandma!! but a many can sometimes suffice!!) step up to bat so you don’t actually have to cancel. The dissappointment of that along with the acceptance/rejection means you REALLY need some chocolate!! Prayers I will send!
hugs,
Holly
Sorry your plans had to cancel. . .big bummer! And that project IS SUPER cute! Sorry they had to bump it. . . it’s adorable!
I’m am so sorry to hear you couldn’t go away, hopefully you can reschedule. Your gingerbread man project is fantastic, they are fools to bump it out!
sooo sorry Lauren! With 3 kids I know how hard it is to come by a night alone w/hubby! Why is it so much easier for people to take 2 kids than 3??!!!?? Our prob is we always have to take one to this grandparents house, the other to that grandparents house so we spend more time driving around splitting up the kids than anything so its just easier to stay home!LOL! Hopefully you and Jason will get your night soon!
Love the gingerbread giftset sooo adorable!
Oh…what a big huge bummer!! I’m so sorry, Lauren! This is so darling too!
Lauren, so sorry for your “un-acceptance”! It hurts to lose crafting magazines in general! Crafts n’ Things had BETTER be one kick-butt mag – cuz they weren’t in the past, IMO. Yeah, you should try being on the Rubber Stamper Design Team and NEVER getting one thing published – even though you worked on 5 design calls since last May and spent HOURS of your own time and TONS of your own supplies and MAILED at your own expense and now….nothing to come of it! Absolutely no guarantee that those projects will ever see the light of day. I guess we’re kind of in the same boat here – do you have a paddle?
sorry for your weekend. If we lived closer, I would help you out girl!! Love the gingerbread set!! SERIOUSLY!! I love grey’s..Not sure about the spin off yet..I loved Addison, but not sure about the flow of this show yet. Hugs, Chris
