Happy Friday!!! Dont’ miss your chance at MYTIME MAIL!!! Click ——->HERE
I have tona to babble about, as I feel like Im on the phone sharing with a girlfriend. If you aren’t into the BLAH BLAH BLAH-scroll down to the cool Lauren’s Loot Bag.
I JUST got back from the dentist. I havent been in 10 years! HATE that place and would rather give birth again than go to the dentist-seriously! Id even take a PAP Smear over it.
After x-rays and whatnot I now remember WHY I hate the dentist-I have 11 cavities! HOLY CRAP! How many teeth are in our head? 32-and 11 of mine of ruined! After being told I have that many cavities I was then complimented that I have beautiful teeth, lots of protective enamel blah blah blah then told had I actually had my twice yearly cleaning Id be fabulous. Slapped on the wrist told to fix my cavities and keep up with cleaning and I will keep the pearly coffee yellows my whole life! LOL!
I was also asked how on earth I am even eatting due to one major cavity on my left side. Guess when you have given birth to 3 children and your daughter has Cancer some things just take a back seat and pain has a whole new meaning! OK sorry I have to make light that this 10 year avoidance is going to cost me over $2,000, as I also learned our dental cover more than ___________(insert whatever word you wish).
Let me say that I have enjoyed reading all your comments. Looks like alot of you NEED more stamp time
AND you all need to post your creations MORE, and dont be afraid to participate in challenges. Its alot of fun and helps you grow as a stamper!
I am also happy to read I’m not the only hoarder of my stamped little treasures of art. I did feel more alone in the fact that Im not a good person and sends lots of RAK’s and just because cards. Its not that I dont have “peep’s” who would love it! I just never do it.
Upon reading the comments I found the site Cards For Cancer. I decided to take my Hoarded treasures and help a cause! I am sending them there! I have to go through my box- (make sure they are appropriate ones) but will post the photo of all the goodies I send there this weekend orsometime next week. We will see what our family Labor Day weekend has planned as to my free MYTIME.
Have any of you considered doing that?
Let me clarify that my intent for the questions was not to guilt you into purging. I just love hearing about my readers, and then this link popped up and there I was PMing someone about what they do!
Obviously I love to help in whatever avenue my stamping can make a difference-donating cards for cause, Alexa’s stamp set, Make A Wish set, YOU NAME IT. Last Christmas I donated a bunch of cards (over 1,000) to Davids House for families of sick children. Anyway-wanted to share that with you.
NOW BACK TO THE GOODS
Well I thought it would be fun to share this idea I had while attempting a card that went WRONG! Its cool how a bad thing can be turned so good.
I decided it would be come a bag holder, due to the flap style. Since the idea was for Halloween treat bags I like to call it Lauren’s Loot
With the help of my Scor-Pal, it was really easy to whip up. Love the crisp and profession score I get.
These came out cute, and were really fast and easy to make. I’m thinking this is the Halloween Lott bags my kids classes are going to receive.
This is the front view. The Ghost image by C.C. Designs (Halloween set releasing tomorrow) was actually stamped on white glitter paper by DCWV. The “moon” is a piece of banana cardstock punched with a 1 1/4 circle, and does have a Sakura glitter pen run along the edges. Sorry for the blurry photo.
The stars paper was a perfect cover for my bag front. Its the Rock Star stack also by DCWV.
Click the thumbnails to view images larger.
View from side so you can see its a bag cover
Other side, flap open. The image is adhered to the flap portion so it open. THe image on the flap weighs it down so it stays closed.
DIRECTIONS
1)Take a white lunch sack or other bag, can cut down top to size.
In this case my bag is 3 1/2 wide by 4 inches high.
2) Cut base from cardstock or patterned cardstock. It should be a bit wider all around the bag.
My example measures 4 1/4 x 6 1/2.
3) Score at 1 1/2 inches for the flap.
4) Use redline tape and adhere bag to base. Cover front of bag with piece of coordinating cardstock
DONE!!
Here is a supah cute sample for a shower Lauren’s Loot bag. This could be baby or bridal shower. Endless possibilities!
This one is cool cause the flap slided under the ribbon-so you can fit ALOT of goodies in there!

other side view bag full

Well I hope you liked this idea, and if you attempt it please share a link to it for us! Very easy to do, especially for mass producing.
I’d love to hear what you think of my samples.
TOMORROW I announce the MYTIME MAIL winner, and have my Sketch Challenge. So for those who haven’t done any now is a great time to start!

Thanks for the “advertisement” for Cards for Cancer. I put on you on my website too.
I love the bag idea. I’ll use it at my next school party. Thanks!
These Loot Bags are super cute! Where did you find the bags? I may borrow this idea for my club this month. Thanks for sharing!
This year I am donating cards made at workshops and extra’s that I have to the Boston Ronald McDonald House. So far, my customers and I have made and donated 50+ cards - and I have about another 20 to send. For the National Card Making Day I am hoping to get 10 people to help me make 100 cards on that day to donate to the house.
Ouch for the cavaties! I hope that all sorts itself out quickly and painlessly.
Those loot bags are absolutely adorable.
These are super adorable loot bags!
Well, as a dental professional (I’m a registered and certified dental assistant), I commend you for taking that step and going to your dentist. Your mouth will be happier for it. I hope you get great care, ’cause that will really make a difference!
Your loot bags are totally awesome!! I love them! Thanks so much for the directions!
Lovin’ those loot bags, Lauren! Too cute!
This is a fabulous idea! Thank you so much for sharing it!! I have had trouble finding white lunch bags but will keep looking! Won’t give up now that I have found this great tutorial!
those loot bags are adorable…perfect for little fingers to work on too!
I know how ya feel about the dentist! I didn’t wait 10 years but awhile. Due to no insurance….being depressed and not caring….then the embarrasment of not going …I went back after cracking a molar! Now I have had a root canal and a major filling in another tooth. I need two crowns now …can we say “cha ching$$” Anyway I won’t be missing my dentist appts. again! Bravo for going back. Love your stamping too!
Your samples ROCK!! Oh and I hate the dentist too. Maybe its all the drilling sounds and the pain that really get to me.
Lauren! 10 years???? My goodness…you need to go every 6 months for a good cleaning…it will make you MUCH happier…(and cost a lot less in the long-run)…(okay…off my soapbox now.)
I think your little gift bag is so cute! What a great idea…you always have something new to show me and inspire me with…thanks.
Oh Lauren…you’re a girl after my own heart! I haven’t been to the dentist in quite a while and I fear I may have some cavities, too. Actually, I *know* that’s what they are, but going to the dentist is the one place I could never go without some sort of crying fit. Hmm..now that you have gone, maybe I should make an appt to go. You’ll be my inspiration. Now, if it ends up that I have to have a root canal or some nonsense, I WILL be blaming you for it.
I also do have tons of cards that are sitting and doing no one any good..think i’ll find a place for those, too!
I hate the dentist too, but I don’t have very good teeth so I go every six months and still have cavities! Hate to think where I’d be if Ididn’t go for ten years.
I love the loot bags! I am particularly fond of how you used the decorative paper for the umbrella and the girl’s shirt. Really cute!
Your loot bag is fabulous - will give it a try. I go to the dentist every six months for a cleaning but I still have cavities but I’d like to still have my teeth in my 70’s.
Lauren - these little bags are ADORABLE! Love them…what a fabulous idea! And really, like I need any MORE enabling????
The deintist?? I share your same mentality on that one…and I had the same exact thing happen to me…I hadn’t been there in 11 years, and I had 11 cavities! Now I’m on a 2 year streak of being cavity free!! I go for my 6 month cleanings, no matter how much I despise it, but I ‘put on my big girl panties and deal with it’! Now to bring Shannon…hmmmmmmm….that will be interesting.
I saw Keva’s post, and I had to have a root canal, by another dentist, mine doesn’t do them, and I cried when I saw the instrument tray, especially after having to sign that informed consent…poor guy didn’t know WHAT to do. but that worked out ok too…
Happy Saturday to you!
Lauren, I love these bags! Way too cute. Sorry about your teeth, YIKES! I better give the dentist a ring. See you not only enable, you also promote good dental hygeine. Have a great weekend.
Gorgeous. Sorry about your teeth too Lauren. I have a phobia of dentists anyways, so I refuse to go, but the rest of the family does.
Love the loot bags; just darling as usual.
I avoided the dentist for many years & like you had several fillings that had leaked and needed crowns; I avoided it at all costs. Then one day had a tooth ache so bad I had to call someone and LUCKILY found a great dentist, she’s actually made the whole experience pleasant. So, now thousands of $$$ later due to my neglecting my teeth, they are nice again and I hope to keep them that way because I truly don’t want dentures!!
Thanks for the info on cards for cancer, I’ll have to check my cards.
If you were one of patients, I would be getting on to you too, gotta keep those teeth, I am a RDH and we have patients like this sometime.. Please go every 6 months, you have to keep them for a long time….cute little bags. great work.
Oh I love those little bags, they’re just adorable! …
That’s such a cool idea, I’ll try to remember how to make them and give it a try!
The Halloween ones are especially cute, I cannot imagine a kid that wouldn’t love those!
Cute bags. The flap is a great idea.
Great project ideas — with wonderful timing… and I love that you can use reasonable amounts of paper (and coordinating ones) to such good effect! I love having the double sided cardstock show — otherwise I have to choose which side to waste ;^)*
I will definitely be making some of these!
I totally understand about the dental thing — but do go! I waited a long time and needed a lot of work. Mom’s soooooo often put themselves last, huh? Big warm hug from a near stranger (me) though — I hope you are feeling more confident that you are now taking care of you, too.
These bags ROCK!! I absolutely love them:)!! I don’t want to talk about the dentist though….oh, I hate the dentist:(
I’m shuttering at the thought, lol!
Hey Lauren,
Love the loot bags!! Was just curious as to where you found the white lunch bags to use??
Thanks,
Jen
The loot bag cards are awesome!! such a great idea! Thanks for the ideas!
Your loot bags are too cute!
Cute, cute bags! I love the ideas.
I went to the dentist about 2 years ago for the first time since I was a child (I was 37 at the time.) I had broken a tooth, had to have it pulled. Found out I had 5 cavities and several more on the way. I go regularly now and my teeth are in much better shape, thank goodness!! I know how scary it is for some of us, but it’s definitely worth it to go see your dentist!! Good for you!
