Where would we be without friends?
I’ll get to that in just a minute.
Today is going to be wonderful! I have a scheduled full body massage at 1pm! Oh how nice that is going to be. I am going to feel so awesome tomorrow, but Sunday my body will HURT! Ever have a massage? Anyway-Im excited.
In the meantime, I hope YOU get time to stamp and try my Saturday Sketch.
I couldn’t resist getting this set by Gel-A-Tins, called BEST FRIENDS. Its seriously cute. I bought like almost every one they sell, and had yet to use them :C So I decided NOW is the time.
When I stamped her I just happened to have the paper from SEI (called Penelope’s Potpourri) sitting next to me after another project was completed. I always think black and red polka-dot dress when I see Mary Jane type of images. I don’t know, she’s just so cute. Anyway-I like that the paper was a slight shade of red lighter, with a red outline/polkadot pattern.
So I layered it then pierced around the layer. I tied some red Martha Stewart ribbon around the black layer, and added to card with dimensionals.
I am seriously on a scalloped punch kick. I cant stop using them. So for this I stamped and colored the girl (with my Copic Markers ) then punched out with my rectangle punch.
Once she was added “something” was missing”. I then thought about this sentiment from Sassy Sayings, and it was PERFECT!
HINT-if you want to add “something” to your card but are unsure HOW it will look or if will it fit, I like to stamp it on my Stamp-a-ma-jig acetate sheet BEFORE putting it on my card! What this does, is allows you to stamp the image on a “practice” sheet. You then place it where you “think” you will like it, to have a quick LOOK at what may be the finished product. If you dont like it, then you know NOT to stamp it on your card and it wont ruin your hard work! If you do then go forth and ink it up. When done wipe it off your “practice” sheet. This will save you tons of time and ruined creations.
That is exactly what I did with my sentiment. And-obviously I liked it. Now to mail it to a friend.
That brings me back to my original question “Where would we be without friends?”
Friends are an important part of life. I cherish all my friends-weather they have been a friend since a childhood, an adult, or even an internet friend. Each one is special to me. I also enjoy YOU. All my regular visitors and readers! Its hard to believe people actually care to check in on my ramblings of blah, blah blah! LOL! I LOVE getting your feedback, emails and questions as well. So thanks
Along with todays sketch I invite you to share with me a cool, interesting, or funny way you have met one of your friends. Whatever Friend story you care to share would be great.
I have met so many of my cyber friends though the Internet! SCS has been quite the meeting place of amazing people.
As far as a funny, or interesting way, I met a friend-
I went with a friend to my first Pampered Chef Party. The consultant was very nice and funny. It was her first party! She was really nervous.
Anway I agreed to host one for her. She would “touch base” about my upcoming party details and then we’d chat on the phone for hours! Long story short, when my party was done, she said “Oh my gosh! What am I going to do? I have no reason to call you anymore.” I then replied “Well we have become friends, just cause my party is over doesn’t mean we can’t talk anymore!” and that was over 3 years ago.
Funny huh?
Your Turn to share.
Also I’d love to see what you do if you try the sketch, so be sure to link it here so I can see it.

WOW – I’m first! That puts the pressure on. I am so loving your organization stuff, it is putting a fire under me! Well, pretty much the only friend I still have since high school came about in a strange way. We were sort of acquaintances per se (hung around with the same group) in our junior and senior years in H.S. But we really became “friends” at our senior prom when her dress ripped (in a not so inconspicuous place) and we spent a good 45 minutes in the bathroom together trying to fix it. Needless to say, I was the only one who stuck around while everyone else went to party, and I searched high and low for a pin, some thread, whatever I could to help her not miss the rest of our prom. She still remembers that to this day, and we have now been good friends for almost 18 years. Even though we are almost 300 miles apart, we talk at least every two weeks, and I am her son’s Godmother. Gotta love friends!
Incredibly cute Lauren! and I LOVE the sketch, hoping I’ll get to try it out later…I’m going to be uploading last week’s sketch today (FINALLY)
A friend story??? This one is kind of tough. I don’t know that I have any unique ‘be-friendments’ except for you and Paulette
All of the ohters kind of occurred in a ‘natural chain of events’ type of way…I lead a pretty boring life
Well…alright it’s a friend story – but a little different…I have a friend who was a few years younger than me, I kind of felt like her big sister, since the one she has isn’t always so helpful. So, one day, she pulls up with this guy that I knew from High School (he’s a year older than me), and let’s just say, in High School, I didn’t think he was the most upstanding guy…I kept asking her “Are you sure you know what you’re getting into?? I knew this guy in HS…I don’t know if it’s such a good idea…blah, blah, blah”….well, you know what? yes, in HS, he wasn’t necessarily the greatest, but there were reasons for it…and they’ve been ‘taken care of’ so to speak…do you know he is one of our BEST friends??? Talk about good guy, willing to give you the shirt off of his back, down to earth, maybe not so good with organization-time wise but overall good guy…I felt like SUCH a jerk for trying to talk her out of dating him. They’re now married and have a sweet little girl, and they remain some of our very best friends, though we all don’t get together as much these days.
So, there’s my friend story, you should always be willing to give someone a second chance!!
Hi Lauren, Your card is very cute. Do these cute little gel stamps come in an actual tin? Like you, I love my scallop punches and use them…………some times too much.
Love your new stamping room/studio. Your husband did a beautiful job making it for you.
I met my friend Anne through my blog. She sent me am e-mail after reading my blog to tell me that she also frequents the same store that I do. Stamping Memories in Laconia, NH. The rest as they say is history. We went to the Scrapbooking convention in Manchester this year, to AC Moore, Sraw Cellar, A Paper crafting store in Center Harbor, Michaels and we chat on the phone weekly and for hours. Did you notice that we like to shop together?
Another wonderf friend hat I met through my blog is Erika. We were suppose to meet last Febraury, I think. I got sick and had to canel. We hope to meet in person as soon as it is a good time for the both of us. She lives in Vermont so it is not that far from me. I have been very blessed to meet lots of new friends through my blog and in many other places. I thought I would just share a couple of stories with you. Have a wonderful weekend.
Mary
Adorable card, great helpful hint, terrific friend story!!
Here’s my friend story: At the beginning of my senior year of college, I was moving into the women’s honors house on campus. There were only five girls living there. I went up to my room and found that my roommate had already made a definite division in the middle of the room and had turned all her furniture away from my side. You see, she did not want a roommate and definitely did not want ME for a roommate. The year before, I was on the student activities council and she was in the art club that made posters for our events. She remembered an incident where we had a slight “disagreement” about the deadline of the poster she was doing for me. I honestly had forgotten about it! Anyway, she was not happy that we were assigned to be roommates. Let me just say, after our first week together we became inseparable!! That year was one of the best ever! To this day she is one of my dearest friends, and she was my maid of honor 17 years ago! She still loves to tell the story of our first day as roommates!
What a cute card Lauren! You’re so very right, where would we be without friends. Honestly, I haven’t got any cute friend stories. I’m actually a very shy and introverted person. But through the power of SCS and the internet, I now have a wonderful group of friends. It’s cool that I’ve been travelling for work and have gotten to meet a few of them in person! I must say, it’s pretty cool to be friends with famous people whose work is in magazines like you, Staci, and Bonnie (to name a few from the Rubber Stamper).
I am glad I found your blog. I consider you a cyber friend!!
Okay, my story started the summer before my Junior year of high school. We lived outside of Houston and my dad was transferred to England, so we moved there the summer before my Junior year. Coincidentally I met a girl in England that went to my school ,Tracy, and she had lived only 15 minutes from me in Houston, but we had went to different schools. Tracy and I continued to be friends in England and then both our families were transferred back to Houston the summer before our Senior year. We were excited that we would be so close to each other and be able to still see each other. After both our families were back in Texas, she soon introduced me to her friend Heather. Heather and I really had a lot in common and we became really good friends. To this day, I consider her my closest and dearest friend.
If I had not moved half way across the world and met Tracy, I would have never met Heather.
Sadly, neither one of us kept in touch with Tracy
Lauren, I am a big fan of yours! I love your artistry! I made a card using your sketch. I turned it on it’s side and went from there. It is on my blog at http://kathleenh-myhappyplace.blogspot.com/
I don’t really have an interesting friend story. I have met lots of friends through stamping! One group of ladies I met planning a Minnesota SCS get together. Paris Otremba decided she would plan the first one and asked if anyone wanted to help. I volunteered to help plan it along with, Terri, Cindy, and Dotty. We all got along really well and had a great time planning the event. We have since planned two more. We went out to dinner after our first event and we took great pleasure in telling our waitress that we met on the internet!!!
Cute Cute card!! I *so* hope to do your sketch this week…I’ve missed for a couple I think.
My friend story is you! Several years (??) ago I was looking for how to make a waterfall card and you were looking for how to make a shaker and somehow, through SCS, we found each other! Swapping those cards was, I think, the beginning of a cyber friendship! Then there were the penguin images (*love* that DD card this month!) and the tooth fairy tin… From the beginning I knew you were talented and I always said one day I’d be able to say “I knew you when…”… LOL! Although we’ve never met I feel like I know you and you are always a source of inspiration to me…both in your stamping and in the way you handle the challenges you face daily. So thanks, my friend!
On the not-so-happy side, although friends are a wonderful, they can also break your heart. My 17yo DD’s best friend is having some issues right now and instead of turning to my daughter she’s pushing her away…it’s breaking her heart and mine too…
I LOVE the LO of this card! What a great color scheme too.
My friend story is this: In my first few weeks of freshman year at college, I kept getting phone calls for some girl named Elizabeth. I lived alone in an upperclassman dorm and didn’t know anyone named Elizabeth. The caller was always very apologetic, but then a few days later, it would happen again! Finally, the caller explained. Elizabeth had lived in THAT room the previous year and the caller kept dialing her “regular” number, forgetting that she had moved.
Well, I fianlly met this elusive Elizabeth because the caller told me she lived down the hall and to go knock on her door. I did, we met, became inseperable bosom buddies, and true kindered spirits. We’ve lived together, taken road trips together, become friends with each other’s families, etc. Although we live far apart now, whenever we get together or talk, it’s like we never left each other’s side. Our friendship is just as strong now as when we met in 1996.
Here’s my take on your sketch!
