My Marvelous Poppin Acetate

Mar 21, 2007 Author: mytime | Filed under: Tutorials

Shimmery butterfly window

This butterfly is the Flowerfly image by Stampendous. Check out Eclectic Paperie-Oh My WORD!!! Thats all Im sayin! Anyway this is my technique on a window card. If it has a butterfly its mine! On the 2 cards I used the scraps from card 1 (above) to make card 2. Paper is from a gorgeous pack of Shangri-La Palette by DMD. Primas are from Jody’s daisy crazy Prima share. Gotta use my color spritzer on everything! LOL!

On card 2 I cuttlebugged it, to kind continue the circle theme. The butterfly is cut out. Happy sentiment on the circle is by CTMH Solo H set. They are the bomb!!! Love those sets. Polkadot ribbon is May arts of course.

OK so on to the HOW TO DO…..(me in my best commercial voice)

Don’t you wish you had StazOn in like every color? Well I do. While “playing” I found that by stamping white stazon, on a acetate sheet you can actually apply pastels while its still wet, kinda like poppin pastels, only they colors shows up on the acetate sheet. I LOVE pearlescent chalks for this technique cause they look so pretty from both sides. (pretty funny eh?)

Here is how I do it.

Supplies

Assemble your supplies, You will need to work fast, so have everything open and ready to go!

You need acetate sheet (make sure there are no finger prints),very moist white stazon, pearlescent pastels, sponge daubers, and an embossing buddy.

Step 1-rub embossing buddy over acetate sheet

Step 2- Stamp image in whate stazon

Step 3- Quickly dauber pearlescent pastels over image

Step 4- Remove excess powder using embossing buddy. Tap of excess powder from acetate sheet.

DONE!

Now you have a easy WOW!!!  So, are you gonna try it?

Box of Easter Chocolates

chocolate bunnies in a box

Well my friend AJ (aka willowsmama) sent me this sweet bunny from Impress Rubber Stamps (and some yummy prima’s)! Thanks AJ! How did you know I loved this bunny. Here is your cyber thank you-:D

Well my mom’s birthday is on Easter this year, so I figured since I am giving her gourmet chocolates in her own Easter basket as part of her gift, that this card would be perfect! Can you say yummy Lindt chocolate bunny? I hope it makes it to her.

This was going to be for the LSC on SCS then I realized it says no choc. or coffee themed items-oops!

I made my own “candy” box. Just cut, scored and folded using the same idea as Alexa’s purse template below! Only ALOT smaller! I used my square punch for the cover. Then adhered the acetate sheet underneath, just like a real candy box. The bunnies are stamped on cocoa cardstock, in choc. chip, the cut out. The box still opens too.

Needed to use my weave bkgd I just got from Cornish Heritage Farms. Isn’t it cool? The ribbon is from Jody’s ribbon share. Its my favorite of the Lollipop ribbon. Anyway, finished with my sweet shop stamp by A Muse. Sentiment is from a retired SU set called Oh So Sweet (i think). Paper is Au Chocolat by SU! If you don’t have it you need it!

Masculine my way

Masculine card

OK I’m sure I’m not the only one who finds guy cards difficult. But I have to say I liked this one alot. Will I give it to “my” dad, NO! LOL! But I still love it.

A girl on SCS and I switched images (sorry I forget who!) and she was sweet to send me several of this image in vanilla and white. Its Classic pick ups by Stampin up! You may not see that the image is filled in with pearlescent pastels. I like the rustic, vinatage-y (yeah I know its not a word but I like it) feel. I LOVE my Prism paper! Its got a soft textured side which was perfect for this card. Plus it matched my ribbon and PP. I love combining my goodies from different companies. What do you think? Should I buy this set?

Let me know what masculine sets you love, and feel free to enable me with a link. This is my toughest area of creativity!

Pretty as a Princess

Mar 20, 2007 Author: mytime | Filed under: Home decor/3-D items

I have been having fun challenging myself since starting with the Dirty girls on SCS. Secret is, I really stink at 3-D items. Well, Alexa wants her room re-done in a princess theme. Especially with Disney coming in a few weeks. So, I went to Michaels and got her this mirror for a whopping $3! I found the  Once Upon a Time patterned paper by DCWV, in this end cap of the store. I knew I could do “something” with it. So home I went.

I painted the mirror with White MM craft paint. I then took a sponge, and sponged craft pretty in pink, bashful blue, and almost amethyst to creat the look of the paper. So here is the framed mirror!

Alexa’s mirror

It really shimmer’s IRL! The letters are chipboard I already had on hand by Marcella by K. I got the prima flower from Jacksonbelle’s ebay store. Its from the baby girl line. I used my glue pen and went happy, then rolled it in some old SU! Glitter from back in the day! LOL! Matches perfectly.

Alexa’s princess dress is paper pieced. I made the crown myself. She LOVES her new mirror.

Thanks for looking.

Alexa’s Set

Alexa’s Purse & Wallet set

Well I have been getting overloaded with PM’s on Splitcoast asking me for instructions on how I made this  Purse & Wallet  gift set.

So I figured my new blog would be the perfect place for your step by step instructions! My very first tutorial! How exciting. I found it fun to use my daughter Alexa’s stamp set since I love it so much, and in hopes that those of you who dont have it, will want it! LOL!

I would also like to do a contest, so see next post!

You can make ANY holder, purse or gift box just by adjusting your measurements! The important thing to remember is make sure your front/back panels are the same, as well as your bottom and sides. If this explaination is unclear, think of the 2-4-6-8 box instructions. Because the box around is 2 inches, you score from the bottom 2 inches. This rule applies to the dimensions of any square item! Any size! Now for rectangle items like my purse, you can choose to make the opening as wide as you like! Just adjust the entire measurements! It really is easy once you get started.Clear as mudd?Well go grab your cutter, and scorer and follow along step by step! It should make sense once you are finished.

If you are confused, email me and I’ll be happy to help you out!

Instructions for purse

Finished size 5 1/2 x 4 with 1 inch opening/side panel.

Cut doublesided cardstock 7 1/2 x 11.

Along the 11 inches- score at 4, 5, 9, 10. This makes the front, bottom, back, and top closure flap.

Along the 7  inches- score at 1, then 10. This will make the side panels.

Now snip the bottom seam corners, and trim excess from top purse flap. (see photo)

Purse back

Ahere using redline tape.

For flap closure I used magnets by Basic Grey.

Handle- cut strip 1 x 12. Score an inch on both end. Fold , and adhere under purse top flap.

Decorate as desired!

Wallet

wallet complete

Cut doublesided cardstock 4 x 8 1/2.

Score at 4 and 4 1/2.

Cut 1 x 3 scrap piece. Score at 2 and 2 1/2.

Template wallet

Attach at the small scored end to wallet.

Punch a piece from the word window. Lay out where it best holds the strap in place.

One comfimed place to attach, use brads to hold in place.

Now your stap will easily slide in and out of wallet, and hold it closed.

Adhere plastic lugguage tag inside wallet using redline tape.

Place a piece of coordinating cardstock inside holder, and adhere inside. This is to cover the view of the redline tape.

Now you can put in a gift card, certificate or cash!

Wallet inside

Hello world!

Mar 15, 2007 Author: mytime | Filed under: Introduction

mytime-blog-photo.jpg

Hello World! Welcome to my blog!

Well, here I am. Can you believe “I” am blogging? I know I can’t. I am SO computer challenged, which is funny considering I’m married to a computer geek! LOL!

Emily (emilymomto3boys) and her sister Kimberly (mamakimberly) seriously helped me get this up and running, so a HUGE thanks to them!! I would still be staring at a screen of God knows what if it wasn’t for their help. Oh and my hubby Jason. He was seriously patient through this entire process!

Do you like my title? I feel this suites me most! I got my SCS name “mytime” cause thats what my stamping time for me is. A time when I can destress, be myself, and do something for “me”. Time away from all the many hats we as women wear. Not that I don’t enjoy all that I have in my life, its just a nice temporary retreat!  I’m a better person when I make time to step back and do something I enjoy.

Since this is the place where I will be sharing my creations, that was so sutiable for my title.

Now you may say “What is Stampendence?”. Well, I am doing this for myself . When I stamp, I have no responsibilities. I’m in my own world, so instead of independence I chose “stamp”endence! I feel free when I am creating. I love my word for it.

Anyway, its been an AMAZING month for me! I was invited to join the Dirty Dozen Design Team on Splitcoaststampers. That was a dream come true.

I was asked to also design for All That Scraps. Thanks to Amy R for pointing her to my gallery.

I had a 2 page layout/article,  for the promotion of my daughter Alexa’s stamp set, published in the March/April edition of The Rubber Stamper! All procedes from the sale of her set go to the Pediatric Leukemia and Lymphoma Society for research in treatment!

Check it out www.missybdesigns.com Its called Alexa’s set. Alexa got to pick what she wanted for a design, and one stamp is even Alexa’s actual signtaure! BIG thanks to Melissa for putting her dream into action! If you want to read the entire story of what was “suppose” to be printed in The Rubber Stamper go to my Pages section and click on Alexa’s Story!

There are also alot of cool things in between, but I don’t want to bore you from the word “hello”.

Now, I started a blog. I don’t know how interesting my life is to everyone but I plan on keeping this as fun and exciting as possible!

That being said I am always open to what YOU want to see on my blog. So feel free to make suggestions as I go.

I look forward to sharing this fun art with you, and all that I know!

I plan on persuing some goals I set this year, and hope you’ll have fun with me on my journey persuing them. I hope this place will help inspire you to find your own creative style and stampendence!
